18 После сего Павел, оставив Афины, пришел в Коринф;
2 и, найдя некоторого Иудея, именем Акилу, родом Понтянина, недавно пришедшего из Италии, и Прискиллу, жену его, --потому что Клавдий повелел всем Иудеям удалиться из Рима, --пришел к ним;
3 и, по одинаковости ремесла, остался у них и работал; ибо ремеслом их было делание палаток.
4 Во всякую же субботу он говорил в синагоге и убеждал Иудеев и Еллинов.
5 А когда пришли из Македонии Сила и Тимофей, то Павел понуждаем был духом свидетельствовать Иудеям, что Иисус есть Христос.
6 Но как они противились и злословили, то он, отрясши одежды свои, сказал к ним: кровь ваша на главах ваших; я чист; отныне иду к язычникам.
7 И пошел оттуда, и пришел к некоторому чтущему Бога, именем Иусту, которого дом был подле синагоги.
8 Крисп же, начальник синагоги, уверовал в Господа со всем домом своим, и многие из Коринфян, слушая, уверовали и крестились.
9 Господь же в видении ночью сказал Павлу: не бойся, но говори и не умолкай,
10 ибо Я с тобою, и никто не сделает тебе зла, потому что у Меня много людей в этом городе.
11 И он оставался там год и шесть месяцев, поучая их слову Божию.
12 Между тем, во время проконсульства Галлиона в Ахаии, напали Иудеи единодушно на Павла и привели его пред судилище,
13 говоря, что он учит людей чтить Бога не по закону.
14 Когда же Павел хотел открыть уста, Галлион сказал Иудеям: Иудеи! если бы какая-нибудь была обида или злой умысел, то я имел бы причину выслушать вас,
15 но когда идет спор об учении и об именах и о законе вашем, то разбирайте сами; я не хочу быть судьею в этом.
16 И прогнал их от судилища.
17 А все Еллины, схватив Сосфена, начальника синагоги, били его перед судилищем; и Галлион нимало не беспокоился о том.
18 Павел, пробыв еще довольно дней, простился с братиями и отплыл в Сирию, --и с ним Акила и Прискилла, --остригши голову в Кенхреях, по обету.
19 Достигнув Ефеса, оставил их там, а сам вошел в синагогу и рассуждал с Иудеями.
20 Когда же они просили его побыть у них долее, он не согласился,
21 а простился с ними, сказав: мне нужно непременно провести приближающийся праздник в Иерусалиме; к вам же возвращусь опять, если будет угодно Богу. И отправился из Ефеса. (Акила же и Прискилла остались в Ефесе).
22 Побывав в Кесарии, он приходил [в Иерусалим], приветствовал церковь и отошел в Антиохию.
23 И, проведя [там] несколько времени, вышел, и проходил по порядку страну Галатийскую и Фригию, утверждая всех учеников.
24 Некто Иудей, именем Аполлос, родом из Александрии, муж красноречивый и сведущий в Писаниях, пришел в Ефес.
25 Он был наставлен в начатках пути Господня и, горя духом, говорил и учил о Господе правильно, зная только крещение Иоанново.
26 Он начал смело говорить в синагоге. Услышав его, Акила и Прискилла приняли его и точнее объяснили ему путь Господень.
27 А когда он вознамерился идти в Ахаию, то братия послали к [тамошним] ученикам, располагая их принять его; и он, прибыв туда, много содействовал уверовавшим благодатью,
28 ибо он сильно опровергал Иудеев всенародно, доказывая Писаниями, что Иисус есть Христос.

18 μετα ταυτα χωρισθεις εκ των αθηνων ηλθεν εις κορινθον
2 και ευρων τινα ιουδαιον ονοματι ακυλαν ποντικον τω γενει προσφατως εληλυθοτα απο της ιταλιας και πρισκιλλαν γυναικα αυτου δια το διατεταχεναι κλαυδιον χωριζεσθαι παντας τους ιουδαιους απο της ρωμης προσηλθεν αυτοις
3 και δια το ομοτεχνον ειναι εμενεν παρ αυτοις και ηργαζοντο ησαν γαρ σκηνοποιοι τη τεχνη
4 διελεγετο δε εν τη συναγωγη κατα παν σαββατον επειθεν τε ιουδαιους και ελληνας
5 ως δε κατηλθον απο της μακεδονιας ο τε σιλας και ο τιμοθεος συνειχετο τω λογω ο παυλος διαμαρτυρομενος τοις ιουδαιοις ειναι τον χριστον ιησουν
6 αντιτασσομενων δε αυτων και βλασφημουντων εκτιναξαμενος τα ιματια ειπεν προς αυτους το αιμα υμων επι την κεφαλην υμων καθαρος εγω απο του νυν εις τα εθνη πορευσομαι
7 και μεταβας εκειθεν ηλθεν εις οικιαν τινος ονοματι τιτιου ιουστου σεβομενου τον θεον ου η οικια ην συνομορουσα τη συναγωγη
8 κρισπος δε ο αρχισυναγωγος επιστευσεν τω κυριω συν ολω τω οικω αυτου και πολλοι των κορινθιων ακουοντες επιστευον και εβαπτιζοντο
9 ειπεν δε ο κυριος εν νυκτι δι οραματος τω παυλω μη φοβου αλλα λαλει και μη σιωπησης
10 διοτι εγω ειμι μετα σου και ουδεις επιθησεται σοι του κακωσαι σε διοτι λαος εστιν μοι πολυς εν τη πολει ταυτη
11 εκαθισεν δε ενιαυτον και μηνας εξ διδασκων εν αυτοις τον λογον του θεου
12 γαλλιωνος δε ανθυπατου οντος της αχαιας κατεπεστησαν οι ιουδαιοι ομοθυμαδον τω παυλω και ηγαγον αυτον επι το βημα
13 λεγοντες οτι παρα τον νομον αναπειθει ουτος τους ανθρωπους σεβεσθαι τον θεον
14 μελλοντος δε του παυλου ανοιγειν το στομα ειπεν ο γαλλιων προς τους ιουδαιους ει μεν ην αδικημα τι η ραδιουργημα πονηρον ω ιουδαιοι κατα λογον αν ανεσχομην υμων
15 ει δε ζητηματα εστιν περι λογου και ονοματων και νομου του καθ υμας οψεσθε αυτοι κριτης εγω τουτων ου βουλομαι ειναι
16 και απηλασεν αυτους απο του βηματος
17 επιλαβομενοι δε παντες σωσθενην τον αρχισυναγωγον ετυπτον εμπροσθεν του βηματος και ουδεν τουτων τω γαλλιωνι εμελεν
18 ο δε παυλος ετι προσμεινας ημερας ικανας τοις αδελφοις αποταξαμενος εξεπλει εις την συριαν και συν αυτω πρισκιλλα και ακυλας κειραμενος εν κεγχρεαις την κεφαλην ειχεν γαρ ευχην
19 κατηντησαν δε εις εφεσον κακεινους κατελιπεν αυτου αυτος δε εισελθων εις την συναγωγην διελεξατο τοις ιουδαιοις
20 ερωτωντων δε αυτων επι πλειονα χρονον μειναι ουκ επενευσεν
21 αλλα αποταξαμενος και ειπων παλιν ανακαμψω προς υμας του θεου θελοντος ανηχθη απο της εφεσου
22 και κατελθων εις καισαρειαν αναβας και ασπασαμενος την εκκλησιαν κατεβη εις αντιοχειαν
23 και ποιησας χρονον τινα εξηλθεν διερχομενος καθεξης την γαλατικην χωραν και φρυγιαν στηριζων παντας τους μαθητας
24 ιουδαιος δε τις απολλως ονοματι αλεξανδρευς τω γενει ανηρ λογιος κατηντησεν εις εφεσον δυνατος ων εν ταις γραφαις
25 ουτος ην κατηχημενος την οδον του κυριου και ζεων τω πνευματι ελαλει και εδιδασκεν ακριβως τα περι του ιησου επισταμενος μονον το βαπτισμα ιωαννου
26 ουτος τε ηρξατο παρρησιαζεσθαι εν τη συναγωγη ακουσαντες δε αυτου πρισκιλλα και ακυλας προσελαβοντο αυτον και ακριβεστερον αυτω εξεθεντο την οδον του θεου
27 βουλομενου δε αυτου διελθειν εις την αχαιαν προτρεψαμενοι οι αδελφοι εγραψαν τοις μαθηταις αποδεξασθαι αυτον ος παραγενομενος συνεβαλετο πολυ τοις πεπιστευκοσιν δια της χαριτος
28 ευτονως γαρ τοις ιουδαιοις διακατηλεγχετο δημοσια επιδεικνυς δια των γραφων ειναι τον χριστον ιησουν

18 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

In Corinth
18 After this, Paul left Athens(A) and went to Corinth.(B) 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla,(C) because Claudius(D) had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.(E) 4 Every Sabbath(F) he reasoned in the synagogue,(G) trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
5 When Silas(H) and Timothy(I) came from Macedonia,(J) Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.(K) 6 But when they opposed Paul and became abusive,(L) he shook out his clothes in protest(M) and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads!(N) I am innocent of it.(O) From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”(P)
7 Then Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titius Justus, a worshiper of God.(Q) 8 Crispus,(R) the synagogue leader,(S) and his entire household(T) believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:(U) “Do not be afraid;(V) keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you,(W) and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.(X)
12 While Gallio was proconsul(Y) of Achaia,(Z) the Jews of Corinth made a united attack on Paul and brought him to the place of judgment. 13 “This man,” they charged, “is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law.”
14 Just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio said to them, “If you Jews were making a complaint about some misdemeanor or serious crime, it would be reasonable for me to listen to you. 15 But since it involves questions about words and names and your own law(AA)—settle the matter yourselves. I will not be a judge of such things.” 16 So he drove them off. 17 Then the crowd there turned on Sosthenes(AB) the synagogue leader(AC) and beat him in front of the proconsul; and Gallio showed no concern whatever.
Priscilla, Aquila and Apollos
18 Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. Then he left the brothers and sisters(AD) and sailed for Syria,(AE) accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila.(AF) Before he sailed, he had his hair cut off at Cenchreae(AG) because of a vow he had taken.(AH) 19 They arrived at Ephesus,(AI) where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. 20 When they asked him to spend more time with them, he declined. 21 But as he left, he promised, “I will come back if it is God’s will.”(AJ) Then he set sail from Ephesus. 22 When he landed at Caesarea,(AK) he went up to Jerusalem and greeted the church and then went down to Antioch.(AL)
23 After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia(AM) and Phrygia,(AN) strengthening all the disciples.(AO)
24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos,(AP) a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus.(AQ) He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor[a](AR) and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.(AS) 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila(AT) heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia,(AU) the brothers and sisters(AV) encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures(AW) that Jesus was the Messiah.(AX)
