⁷І Він знов учинив, що я бачив таке: Ось на мурі стрімкому стоїть Господь Бог, а в руці Його висок.

⁸І промовив до мене Господь: Що ти бачиш, Амосе? А я відказав: Виска. І промовив Господь: Ось Я цього виска покладу посеред народу Мого, Ізраїля, уже більше йому не прощу!

⁹І спустошіють жертовні підгірки Ісакові, і поруйновані будуть святині Ізраїлеві, і Я стану з мечем на дім Єровоамів.

The Vision of the Plumb Line

⁷This is what the Lord showed me: He stood by a wall with a plumb line^[a] in his hand. (The wall had been marked with a plumb line.) ⁸The Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”

I said, “A plumb line.”

Then the Lord said to me, “See, I will put a plumb line among my people Israel. I will not let their ‘crooked ways’ pass inspection anymore. ⁹Isaac’s high places will be destroyed. Israel’s holy places will be made into a pile of rocks. I will attack and kill Jeroboam’s^[b] family with swords.”

⁷Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

⁸And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

⁹And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

In the midst of My people Israel;
^(B)I will not pass by them anymore.
