²⁸ “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming^(A) when all who are in their graves will hear his voice ²⁹ and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.^(B)

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead^(A) is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies^(B) because of^[a] his Spirit who lives in you.

¹⁴ By his power God raised the Lord from the dead,^(A) and he will raise us also.^(B)

²⁰ But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead,^(A) the firstfruits^(B) of those who have fallen asleep.^{(C) 21} For since death came through a man,^(D) the resurrection of the dead^(E) comes also through a man.

Awaiting the New Body

5 For we know that if the earthly^(A) tent^(B) we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

¹⁰ I want to know^(A) Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings,^(B) becoming like him in his death,^{(C) 11} and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection^(D) from the dead.

²¹ who, by the power^(A) that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies^(B) so that they will be like his glorious body.^(C)

¹⁴ For we believe that Jesus died and rose again,^(A) and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.^{(B) 15} According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord,^(C) will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.^{(D) 16} For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,^(E) with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel^(F) and with the trumpet call of God,^(G) and the dead in Christ will rise first.^{(H) 17} After that, we who are still alive and are left^(I) will be caught up together with them in the clouds^(J) to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord^(K) forever.

⁴ I saw thrones^(A) on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.^(B) And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded^(C) because of their testimony about Jesus^(D) and because of the word of God.^(E) They^[a] had not worshiped the beast^(F) or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.^(G) They came to life and reigned^(H) with Christ a thousand years. ⁵ (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.^{(I) 6} Blessed^(J) and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death^(K) has no power over them, but they will be priests^(L) of God and of Christ and will reign with him^(M) for a thousand years.

The Judgment of Satan

⁷ When the thousand years are over,^(N) Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations^(O) in the four corners of the earth^(P)—Gog and Magog^(Q)—and to gather them for battle.^(R) In number they are like the sand on the seashore.^{(S) 9} They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded^(T) the camp of God’s people, the city he loves.^(U) But fire came down from heaven^(V) and devoured them. ¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them,^(W) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,^(X) where the beast^(Y) and the false prophet^(Z) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.^(AA)

The Judgment of the Dead

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne^(AB) and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence,^(AC) and there was no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, great and small,^(AD) standing before the throne, and books were opened.^(AE) Another book was opened, which is the book of life.^(AF) The dead were judged^(AG) according to what they had done^(AH) as recorded in the books. ¹³ The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades^(AI) gave up the dead^(AJ) that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.^{(AK) 14} Then death^(AL) and Hades^(AM) were thrown into the lake of fire.^(AN) The lake of fire is the second death.^{(AO) 15} Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life^(AP) was thrown into the lake of fire.
