Peter Speaks in Solomon’s Portico
11 While he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s Portico, utterly astonished. 12 When Peter saw it, he addressed the people, “You Israelites,[a] why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our ancestors has glorified his servant[b] Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him. 14 But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you, 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16 And by faith in his name, his name itself has made this man strong, whom you see and know; and the faith that is through Jesus[c] has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you.

Perché fissate gli occhi su di noi, come se per la nostra propria potenza o pietà avessimo fatto camminare quest’uomo? 13 Il Dio di Abraamo, di Isacco e di Giacobbe[b], il Dio dei nostri padri, ha glorificato il suo servo Gesù, che voi consegnaste a Pilato e rinnegaste davanti a lui, mentre egli aveva giudicato di liberarlo. 14 Ma voi rinnegaste il Santo, il Giusto, e chiedeste che vi fosse concesso un omicida; 15 e uccideste il Principe della vita, che Dio ha risuscitato dai morti. Di questo noi siamo testimoni. 16 E, per la fede nel suo nome, il suo nome ha fortificato quest’uomo che vedete e conoscete; ed è la fede, che si ha per mezzo di lui, che gli ha dato questa perfetta guarigione in presenza di voi tutti.

12 Als Petrus das sah, wandte er sich an das Volk: Ihr Männer von Israel, weshalb verwundert ihr euch darüber, oder weshalb blickt ihr auf uns, als hätten wir durch eigene Kraft oder Frömmigkeit bewirkt, dass dieser umhergeht?
13 Der Gott Abrahams und Isaaks und Jakobs, der Gott unserer Väter, hat seinen Knecht[a] Jesus verherrlicht; ihn habt ihr ausgeliefert und habt ihn verleugnet vor Pilatus, als dieser ihn freisprechen wollte.
14 Ihr habt den Heiligen und Gerechten verleugnet und verlangt, dass euch ein Mörder geschenkt werde;
15 den Fürsten des Lebens aber habt ihr getötet! Ihn hat Gott aus den Toten auferweckt; dafür sind wir Zeugen.
16 Und auf den Glauben an seinen Namen hin hat sein Name diesen hier stark gemacht, den ihr seht und kennt; ja, der durch Ihn [gewirkte] Glaube hat ihm diese volle Gesundheit gegeben vor euch allen.

22 After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he spent some time there with them and baptized. 23 John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim because water was abundant there; and people kept coming and were being baptized 24 —John, of course, had not yet been thrown into prison.
25 Now a discussion about purification arose between John’s disciples and a Jew.[a] 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing, and all are going to him.” 27 John answered, “No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven. 28 You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah,[b] but I have been sent ahead of him.’ 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. For this reason my joy has been fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.”[c]
The One Who Comes from Heaven
31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony. 33 Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified[d] this, that God is true.

25 Nacque dunque una discussione sulla purificazione, tra i discepoli di Giovanni e un Giudeo. 26 E andarono da Giovanni e gli dissero: «Rabbì, colui che era con te di là dal Giordano, e al quale rendesti testimonianza, eccolo che battezza, e tutti vanno da lui». 27 Giovanni rispose: «L’uomo non può ricevere nulla se non gli è dato dal cielo. 28 Voi stessi mi siete testimoni che ho detto: “Io non sono il Cristo, ma sono stato mandato davanti a lui”. 29 Colui che ha la sposa è lo sposo, ma l’amico dello sposo, che è presente e lo ascolta, si rallegra vivamente alla voce dello sposo; questa gioia, che è la mia, è ora completa. 30 Bisogna che egli cresca e che io diminuisca. 31 Colui che viene dall’alto è sopra tutti; colui che viene dalla terra è della terra e parla come uno che è della terra; colui che viene dal cielo è sopra tutti[b]. 32 Egli rende testimonianza di quello che ha visto e udito, ma nessuno riceve la sua testimonianza. 33 Chi ha ricevuto la sua testimonianza ha confermato[c] che Dio è veritiero.

22 Danach kam Jesus mit seinen Jüngern in das Land Judäa, und dort hielt er sich mit ihnen auf und taufte.
23 Aber auch Johannes taufte in Änon, nahe bei Salim, weil viel Wasser dort war; und sie kamen dorthin und ließen sich taufen.
24 Denn Johannes war noch nicht ins Gefängnis geworfen worden.
25 Es erhob sich nun eine Streitfrage zwischen den Jüngern des Johannes und einigen Juden wegen der Reinigung.
26 Und sie kamen zu Johannes und sprachen zu ihm: Rabbi, der, welcher bei dir war jenseits des Jordan, für den du Zeugnis abgelegt hast, siehe, der tauft, und jedermann kommt zu ihm!
27 Johannes antwortete und sprach: Ein Mensch kann sich nichts nehmen[a], es sei denn, es ist ihm vom Himmel gegeben.
28 Ihr selbst bezeugt mir, dass ich gesagt habe: Nicht ich bin der Christus, sondern ich bin vor ihm her gesandt.
29 Wer die Braut hat, der ist der Bräutigam; der Freund des Bräutigams aber, der dasteht und ihn hört, ist hocherfreut über die Stimme des Bräutigams. Diese meine Freude ist nun erfüllt.
30 Er muss wachsen, ich aber muss abnehmen.[b]
31 Der von oben kommt, ist über allen. Wer von der Erde ist, der ist von der Erde und redet von der Erde; der aus dem Himmel kommt, ist über allen.
32 Und er bezeugt, was er gesehen und gehört hat, und sein Zeugnis nimmt niemand an.
33 Wer aber sein Zeugnis annimmt, der bestätigt, dass Gott wahrhaftig ist.

22 Jézus ezután elment tanítványaival együtt Júdea földjére, ott tartózkodott velük, és keresztelt.
23 János is keresztelt Ainonban, Szálim közelében, mert ott sok víz volt, és az emberek odamentek és megkeresztelkedtek.
24 János ugyanis még nem volt börtönbe vetve.
25 János tanítványai vitába szálltak a zsidókkal a megtisztulásról.
26 Odamentek Jánoshoz, és ezt mondták neki: "Mester, aki veled volt a Jordánon túl, akiről te bizonyságot tettél, íme, az keresztel, és mindenki őhozzá megy."
27 János így válaszolt: "Semmit sem szerezhet az ember, ha nem a mennyből adatott meg neki.
