サウルから逃げるダビデ
19 ついにサウル王は、側近や息子のヨナタンにまで、ダビデ殺害をそそのかすようになりました。しかしヨナタンは、ダビデと深い友情で結ばれていたので、 2 父のたくらみをダビデに知らせました。「明日の朝、野に隠れ場所を見つけて潜んでいてほしい。 3 父をそこまで連れ出すから。そこであなたのことについて話をする。何かわかったらすぐに知らせる。」
4 翌朝、ヨナタンは父と話し合い、ダビデの正しさを力説して、敵視しないでほしいと頼みました。「ダビデは一つも害をもたらしたりしていません。それどころか、いつも精一杯、助けてくれました。 5 彼が命がけでゴリヤテを倒した時のことを、お忘れになったのですか。その結果、主がイスラエルに大勝利をもたらしてくださったのではありませんか。あの時、父上はほんとうにお喜びになりました。それなのに、なぜ今になって罪もない者を殺害しようとなさるのです。そんなことをする理由など少しも見当たりません。」
6 サウル王はうなずき、「主が生きておられる限り、彼を殺すことはない」と誓いました。 7 あとでヨナタンはダビデを呼び、いきさつを話しました。そしてダビデを王のところへ連れて行き、すべてが元どおりに収まりました。
8 まもなくして戦いが始まりましたが、ダビデは兵を率いてペリシテ人と戦い、多数の敵兵を討ち取りました。ペリシテ軍は軍旗を巻いて遁走したのです。
9-10 ところが、ある日、サウル王は家で腰を下ろして、ダビデの奏でる竪琴に耳を傾けていました。とその時、急に、神からの災いの霊が王を襲い、あっという間もなく、王は手にしていた槍をダビデに投げつけ、刺し殺そうとしたのです。ダビデはとっさに身をかわして助かりましたが、夜になるのを待って逃げ出しました。槍は壁の横木に突き刺さったままでした。
11 その晩、王は兵をやってダビデの家を見張らせました。朝になって出て来るところをねらって、彼を殺そうとしたのです。ミカルは夫ダビデに危険を知らせました。「逃げるなら、今夜のうちですわ。朝になったら殺されてしまいます。」
12 ミカルはダビデを助けたい一心で、彼を窓からつり降ろして逃がしました。 13 そして、代わりに偶像を寝床に入れ、すっぽりと毛布をかけました。頭はやぎの毛で編んだものを枕にのせました。 14 そこへ、ダビデを捕らえて王のもとへ連行しようと、兵士たちが踏み込んで来ました。ミカルは、ダビデは病気でベッドから動かせないと告げたのですが、 15 王は、ベッドごとでも連れて来るように命じました。そのまま殺してしまうつもりだったのです。 16 しかし、運び出そうとした時、偶像であることがわかってしまいました。 17 サウルはミカルにただしました。「なぜ、私をだまして彼を逃がしたのか。」
「しかたがありません。そうしなければ殺すと、あの人に脅されたのです。」
18 ダビデはラマまで逃げ延び、サムエルに会って、サウル王の仕打ちを洗いざらい訴えました。サムエルはダビデを連れてナヨテに行き、そこでいっしょに住むことにしました。 19 ところが、ダビデがラマのナヨテにいるという報告を受けると、 20 王はダビデを捕らえようと兵を差し向けました。しかし、一行がナヨテに来て、預言をしていたサムエルはじめ預言者の一団を見た時、なんと神の霊がサウルの兵士たちにも下り、預言を始めたのです。 21 この知らせに、王はほかの兵を遣わしましたが、彼らもまた預言に加わったのです。同じことが三度も起こりました。 22 そこで、今度は王自身がラマへ出向き、セクにある大きな井戸まで来ると、「サムエルとダビデはどこにいるか」と尋ねました。尋ねられた人は、「ナヨテにいらっしゃるそうですよ」と答えました。 23 ところが、ナヨテへ向かう途中のこと、神の霊が下り、王も預言を始めました。 24 王は着物を脱ぎ、一昼夜、裸のまま地面に横たわって、サムエルの預言者たちとともに預言していました。家臣たちは、ただもう目をみはるばかりでした。思わず、「サウル王も預言者の一人なのか」と口走る者もいました。

Saul Tries to Kill David
19 Saul told his son Jonathan(A) and all the attendants to kill(B) David. But Jonathan had taken a great liking to David 2 and warned him, “My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding(C) and stay there. 3 I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. I’ll speak(D) to him about you and will tell you what I find out.”
4 Jonathan spoke(E) well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king do wrong(F) to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly. 5 He took his life(G) in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The Lord won a great victory(H) for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent(I) man like David by killing him for no reason?”
6 Saul listened to Jonathan and took this oath: “As surely as the Lord lives, David will not be put to death.”
7 So Jonathan called David and told him the whole conversation. He brought him to Saul, and David was with Saul as before.(J)
8 Once more war broke out, and David went out and fought the Philistines. He struck them with such force that they fled before him.
9 But an evil[a] spirit(K) from the Lord came on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the lyre,(L) 10 Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded(M) him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.
11 Saul sent men to David’s house to watch(N) it and to kill him in the morning.(O) But Michal, David’s wife, warned him, “If you don’t run for your life tonight, tomorrow you’ll be killed.” 12 So Michal let David down through a window,(P) and he fled and escaped. 13 Then Michal took an idol(Q) and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats’ hair at the head.
14 When Saul sent the men to capture David, Michal said,(R) “He is ill.”
15 Then Saul sent the men back to see David and told them, “Bring him up to me in his bed so that I may kill him.” 16 But when the men entered, there was the idol in the bed, and at the head was some goats’ hair.
17 Saul said to Michal, “Why did you deceive me like this and send my enemy away so that he escaped?”
Michal told him, “He said to me, ‘Let me get away. Why should I kill you?’”
18 When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah(S) and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there. 19 Word came to Saul: “David is in Naioth at Ramah”; 20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets(T) prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on(U) Saul’s men, and they also prophesied.(V) 21 Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied. 22 Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?”
“Over in Naioth at Ramah,” they said.
23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying(W) until he came to Naioth. 24 He stripped(X) off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s(Y) presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”(Z)

イッサカルの子孫
7 イッサカルの子はトラ、プア、ヤシュブ、シムロン。
2 トラの子は次のとおりで、みな氏族の長となりました。ウジ、レファヤ、エリエル、ヤフマイ、イブサム、シェムエル。
ダビデ王の時代には、これらの諸氏族出身の勇士は総計二万二千六百人にのぼりました。
3 ウジの子はイゼラヘヤ。イゼラヘヤの息子はミカエル、オバデヤ、ヨエル、イシヤなど五人で、みな氏族の長でした。 4 彼らはみな数人の妻をめとり、多くの子をもうけたので、その子孫は、ダビデの時代には三万六千の兵力になりました。 5 イッサカル族の全氏族から兵役についた者は計八万七千人で、みな系図に載っている勇士でした。
ベミヤミンの子孫
6 ベニヤミンの子はベラ、ベケル、エディアエル。
7 ベラの子はエツボン、ウジ、ウジエル、エリモテ、イリ。この五人の勇士は各氏族の長で、系図に載っている兵士二万二、〇三四人の指導者でした。
8 ベケルの子は次のとおり。ゼミラ、ヨアシュ、エリエゼル、エルヨエナイ、オムリ、エレモテ、アビヤ、アナトテ、アレメテ。
9 ダビデの時代には、彼らの子孫から出た勇士は各氏族の長二万二百人に及びました。
10 エディアエルの子はビルハン。
ビルハンの子はエウシュ、ベニヤミン、エフデ、ケナアナ、ゼタン、タルシシュ、アヒシャハル。
11 彼らはみなエディアエルの諸氏族の長となり、その子孫は、ダビデの時代に一万七千二百人の勇士となりました。
12 イルの子はシュピムとフピム。フシムはアヘルの子の一人でした。
ナフタリの子孫
13 ヤコブのそばめビルハの子ナフタリの子は、ヤハツィエル、グニ、エツェル、シャルム。
マナセの子孫
14 マナセがアラム人のそばめに産ませた子は、アスリエルとギルアデの父のマキル。
15 マキルは、フピムとシュピムに妻を見つけてやりました。マキルの妹はマアカ。彼のもう一人の末裔のツェロフハデには娘しかいませんでした。
16 マキルの妻もマアカといいましたが、ペレシュという男の子を産みました。その弟はシェレシュで、ウラムとレケムという二人の子がいました。
17 ウラムの子はベダン。以上はギルアデの子、マキルの孫、マナセのひ孫です。
18 マキルの妹モレケテは、イシュホデ、アビエゼル、マフラを産みました。
19 シェミダの子はアフヤン、シェケム、リクヒ、アニアム。
エフライムの子孫
20-21 エフライムの子孫は次のとおり。シュテラフ、ベレデ、タハテ、エルアダ、タハテ、ザバデ、シュテラフ、それにエゼルとエルアデ。
エルアデとエゼルは、ガテで家畜を盗もうとして土地の農夫に見つかり、殺されました。 22 二人の父エフライムは、長い間喪に服していたので、兄弟たちが彼を慰めました。 23 そののち、エフライムの妻は男の子を産みましたが、悲劇のただ中で生まれたその子を、彼はベリア（「災い」の意）と名づけました。
24 エフライムの娘シェエラは、下および上のベテ・ホロン、それにウゼン・シェエラを建てました。
25-27 エフライムの息子ベリアの家系はレファフ、レシェフ、テラフ、タハン、ラダン、アミフデ、エリシャマ、ヌン、ヨシュアと続きます。
28 彼らは、ベテルとその周辺の村々、東方ではナアラン、西方ではゲゼルと周辺の村々、シェケムと周辺の村々、さらにアヤと近郊の町々に住んでいました。

Issachar
7 The sons of Issachar:(A)
Tola, Puah,(B) Jashub and Shimron—four in all.
2 The sons of Tola:
Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam and Samuel—heads of their families. During the reign of David, the descendants of Tola listed as fighting men in their genealogy numbered 22,600.
3 The son of Uzzi:
Izrahiah.
The sons of Izrahiah:
Michael, Obadiah, Joel and Ishiah. All five of them were chiefs. 4 According to their family genealogy, they had 36,000 men ready for battle, for they had many wives and children.
5 The relatives who were fighting men belonging to all the clans of Issachar, as listed in their genealogy, were 87,000 in all.
Benjamin
6 Three sons of Benjamin:(C)
Bela, Beker and Jediael.
7 The sons of Bela:
Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth and Iri, heads of families—five in all. Their genealogical record listed 22,034 fighting men.
8 The sons of Beker:
Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker. 9 Their genealogical record listed the heads of families and 20,200 fighting men.
10 The son of Jediael:
Bilhan.
The sons of Bilhan:
Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish and Ahishahar. 11 All these sons of Jediael were heads of families. There were 17,200 fighting men ready to go out to war.
12 The Shuppites and Huppites were the descendants of Ir, and the Hushites[a] the descendants of Aher.
Naphtali
Manasseh
14 The descendants of Manasseh:(E)
Asriel was his descendant through his Aramean concubine. She gave birth to Makir the father of Gilead.(F) 15 Makir took a wife from among the Huppites and Shuppites. His sister’s name was Maakah.
Another descendant was named Zelophehad,(G) who had only daughters.
16 Makir’s wife Maakah gave birth to a son and named him Peresh. His brother was named Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.
17 The son of Ulam:
Bedan.
These were the sons of Gilead(H) son of Makir, the son of Manasseh. 18 His sister Hammoleketh gave birth to Ishhod, Abiezer(I) and Mahlah.
19 The sons of Shemida(J) were:
Ahian, Shechem, Likhi and Aniam.
Ephraim
20 The descendants of Ephraim:(K)
Shuthelah, Bered his son,
Tahath his son, Eleadah his son,
Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son
and Shuthelah his son.
Ezer and Elead were killed by the native-born men of Gath, when they went down to seize their livestock. 22 Their father Ephraim mourned for them many days, and his relatives came to comfort him. 23 Then he made love to his wife again, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah,[c] because there had been misfortune in his family. 24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon(L) as well as Uzzen Sheerah.
25 Rephah was his son, Resheph his son,[d]
Telah his son, Tahan his son,
26 Ladan his son, Ammihud his son,
Elishama his son, 27 Nun his son
and Joshua his son.
28 Their lands and settlements included Bethel and its surrounding villages, Naaran to the east, Gezer(M) and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its villages all the way to Ayyah and its villages. 29 Along the borders of Manasseh were Beth Shan,(N) Taanach, Megiddo and Dor,(O) together with their villages. The descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived in these towns.
Asher
30 The sons of Asher:(P)
Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah. Their sister was Serah.
31 The sons of Beriah:
Heber and Malkiel, who was the father of Birzaith.
32 Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer and Hotham and of their sister Shua.
33 The sons of Japhlet:
Pasak, Bimhal and Ashvath.
These were Japhlet’s sons.
34 The sons of Shomer:
Ahi, Rohgah,[e] Hubbah and Aram.
35 The sons of his brother Helem:
Zophah, Imna, Shelesh and Amal.
36 The sons of Zophah:
Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah, 37 Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran[f] and Beera.
38 The sons of Jether:
Jephunneh, Pispah and Ara.
39 The sons of Ulla:
Arah, Hanniel and Rizia.
40 All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.

59 ああ神よ、私を敵の手から救い出してください。
いのちをねらって押し寄せる者どもから
私を守ってください。
2 人殺しどもの手から守ってください。
3 腕っぷしの強い者が、
手ぐすねひいて待ち伏せています。
主よ。私は彼らに何も悪いことをしていません。
4 それなのに、彼らは私の息の根を止めようと、
意気込んでいるのです。
主よ、目を覚まして、よくごらんください。
そして助けの手を差し伸べてください。
5 天の軍勢の主であるイスラエルの神よ、
どうか周囲の異教の国々を罰してください。
こんな恥知らずの悪党どもを、
生かしておかないでください。
6 彼らは夕暮れになると様子をうかがい、

1 Deliver me from my enemies, O God;(B)
be my fortress against those who are attacking me.(C)
2 Deliver me from evildoers(D)
and save me from those who are after my blood.(E)
3 See how they lie in wait for me!
Fierce men conspire(F) against me
for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.
4 I have done no wrong,(G) yet they are ready to attack me.(H)
Arise to help me; look on my plight!(I)
5 You, Lord God Almighty,
you who are the God of Israel,(J)
rouse yourself(K) to punish all the nations;(L)
show no mercy to wicked traitors.[c](M)
6 They return at evening,
snarling like dogs,(N)
and prowl about the city.
7 See what they spew from their mouths(O)—
the words from their lips are sharp as swords,(P)

4 それからイエスは、聖霊に導かれて荒野に出て行かれました。悪魔に試されるためでした。 2 イエスはそこで、まる四十日間、何一つ口にされなかったので、空腹を覚えられました。 3 悪魔が誘いかけてきたのは、その時です。「ここに転がっている石をパンに変えてみたらどうだ。そうすれば、あなたが神の子だということがわかる。」
4 しかしイエスは、お答えになりました。「いいえ。聖書には、『人はただパンだけで生きるのではなく、神の口から出る一つ一つのことばによる』（申命８・３）と書いてある。わたしたちは、神のすべてのことばに従うべきなのです。」
5 すると悪魔は、イエスをエルサレムに連れて行き、神殿の一番高い所に立たせて言いました。 6 「さあ、ここから飛び降りてみろ。そうすれば、あなたが神の子だということがわかるだろう。聖書に、『神は、天使を送って、あなたを支えさせ、あなたが岩の上に落ちて砕かれることのないように守られる』（詩篇91・11―12）と、はっきり書いてあるのだから。」
7 イエスは言い返されました。「『あなたの神である主を試してはならない』（申命9・16）とも書いてあるではないか。」
8 次に悪魔は、非常に高い山の頂上にイエスを連れて行きました。そして、世界の国々とその繁栄ぶりとを見せ、 9 「さあ、ひざまずいて、この私を拝みさえすれば、これを全部あなたにやろう」とそそのかしました。
10 「立ち去れ、サタン！ 『神である主だけを礼拝し、主にだけ従え』（申命6・13）と聖書に書いてあるではないか。」イエスは悪魔を一喝しました。
11 すると悪魔は退散し、天使たちが来て、イエスに仕えました。
宣教を始める
12 イエスはヨハネが捕らえられたと聞くと、ユダヤを去って、ガリラヤのナザレにお帰りになり、 13 まもなくゼブルンとナフタリに近い、ガリラヤ湖畔のカペナウムに移られました。 14 これは、イザヤの預言が実現するためでした。
15-16 「ゼブルンとナフタリの地、海沿いの道、
ヨルダン川の向こう岸、
多くの外国人が住んでいる北ガリラヤ。
そこで暗闇の中にうずくまっていた人たちは、
大きな光を見た。
死の陰の地に座っていた彼らの上に、
光が差した。」（イザヤ9・1―2）
17 その時から、イエスは宣教を始められました。「悔い改めて神に立ち返りなさい。神の国が近づいているから。」
18 ある日、イエスがガリラヤ湖の岸辺を歩いておられると、シモン〔別名ペテロ〕とアンデレの二人の兄弟が舟に乗り、網で漁をしているのに出会いました。彼らは漁師でした。
19 イエスが、「わたしについて来なさい。人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう」と声をおかけになると、 20 二人はすぐに網を捨て、イエスについて行きました。
21 しばらく行ったところで、今度は別の二人の兄弟ヤコブとヨハネが、父のゼベダイといっしょに舟の中で網を直しているのを見つけ、そこでも、ついて来るようにと声をおかけになりました。 22 彼らはすぐ仕事をやめ、父をあとに残して、イエスについて行きました。
23 イエスはガリラヤ中を旅して、ユダヤ人の会堂で教え、あらゆる場所で福音（イエス・キリストによる救いの知らせ）を宣べ伝え、さらに、あらゆる病気や苦しみをいやされました。 24 このイエスの奇跡の評判は、ガリラヤの外にまで広がったので、シリヤのような遠方からも、人々は病人を連れてやって来ました。悪霊につかれた人、てんかんの人、中風（脳の出血などによる半身不随、手足のまひ等の症状）の人など、その病気や苦しみがどのようなものであろうと、一人残らず治るのです。 25 こうして、イエスがどこに行かれても、たいへんな数の群衆があとをついて行きました。それは、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤのあらゆる所から来た人々で、中にはヨルダン川の向こうから来た人もいました。

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a](B) by the devil.(C) 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights,(D) he was hungry. 3 The tempter(E) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,(F) tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”(G)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(H) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,”(I) he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”(J)
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”(K)
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!(L) For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”(M)
11 Then the devil left him,(N) and angels came and attended him.(O)
Jesus Begins to Preach
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison,(P) he withdrew to Galilee.(Q) 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,(R) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill(S) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[f](T)
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(U) has come near.”
Jesus Calls His First Disciples(V)
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,(W) he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter(X) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,”(Y) Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.(Z)
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.(AA) They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.(AB)
Jesus Heals the Sick
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee,(AC) teaching in their synagogues,(AD) proclaiming the good news(AE) of the kingdom,(AF) and healing every disease and sickness among the people.(AG) 24 News about him spread all over Syria,(AH) and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed,(AI) those having seizures,(AJ) and the paralyzed;(AK) and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[g] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.(AL)
