3 Querido jovencito,
grábate bien mis enseñanzas;
memoriza mis mandamientos.
2 Así te irá siempre bien
por el resto de tu vida.
3 Ama siempre a Dios
y sé sincero con tus amigos;
4 así estarás bien con Dios
y con tus semejantes.
5 Pon toda tu confianza en Dios
y no en lo mucho que sabes.
6 Toma en cuenta a Dios
en todas tus acciones,
y él te ayudará en todo.
7 No te creas muy sabio;
obedece a Dios y aléjate del mal;
8 así te mantendrás sano y fuerte.
9 Demuéstrale a Dios
que para ti él es lo más importante.
Dale de lo que tienes
y de todo lo que ganes;
10 así nunca te faltará
ni comida ni bebida.
11 Querido jovencito,
no rechaces la instrucción de Dios
ni te enojes cuando te reprenda.
12 Porque Dios corrige a quienes ama,
como corrige un padre a sus hijos.
13 Dios bendice al joven
que actúa con sabiduría,
14 y que saca de ella más provecho
que del oro y la plata.
15 La sabiduría y el conocimiento
valen más que las piedras preciosas;
¡ni los tesoros más valiosos
se les pueden comparar!
16 Por un lado, te dan larga vida;
por el otro, buena fama y riquezas.
17 Qué grato es seguir sus consejos,
pues en ellos hay bienestar.
18 ¡Dios bendice al joven

19 Con sabiduría y gran cuidado

20 Con su conocimiento
hizo brotar lagos y ríos
y dejó caer la lluvia.
21 Querido jovencito,
aprende a tomar buenas decisiones
y piensa bien lo que haces.
22 Hacerlo así te dará vida
y los demás te admirarán.
23 Andarás por la vida
sin problemas ni tropiezos.
24 Cuando te acuestes,
podrás dormir tranquilo
y sin preocupaciones.
25 No sufrirás las desgracias
que caen sobre los malvados.
26 Dios siempre estará a tu lado
y nada te hará caer.
27 No te niegues a hacer un favor,
siempre que puedas hacerlo.
28 Nunca digas: «Te ayudaré mañana»,
cuando puedas ayudar hoy.
29 Nunca traiciones al amigo
que confía en ti.
30 No andes buscando pleitos,
si nadie te ha hecho daño.
31 No envidies a los violentos
ni sigas su mal ejemplo.
32 Dios no soporta a los malvados,

Admonition to Trust and Honor God
3 My child, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,(A)
2 for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare they will give you.(B)
3 Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.(C)
4 Then you will find favor and high regard
in the sight of God and of people.(D)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.(E)
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.(F)
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and turn away from evil.(G)
8 It will be a healing for your flesh
and a refreshment for your body.(H)
9 Honor the Lord with your substance
and with the first fruits of all your produce;(I)
10 then your barns will be filled with plenty,
and your vats will be bursting with wine.
11 My child, do not despise the Lord’s discipline
or be weary of his reproof,(J)
12 for the Lord reproves the one he loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights.(K)
The True Wealth
13 Happy are those who find wisdom
and those who get understanding,
14 for her income is better than silver
and her revenue better than gold.(L)
15 She is more precious than jewels,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.(M)
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.(N)
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.(O)
18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
those who hold her fast are called happy.(P)

19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
by understanding he established the heavens;(Q)
20 by his knowledge the deeps broke open,
and the clouds drop down the dew.(R)

21 My child, do not let these escape from your sight:
keep sound wisdom and prudence,
22 and they will be life for your soul
and adornment for your neck.(S)
23 Then you will walk on your way securely,
and your foot will not stumble.(T)
24 If you sit down,[a] you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Then you will not be afraid of sudden panic
or of the storm that strikes the wicked,(U)
26 for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being caught.
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,[b]
when it is in your power to do it.(V)
28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go and come again;
tomorrow I will give it,” when you have it with you.(W)
29 Do not plan harm against your neighbor
who lives trustingly beside you.(X)
30 Do not quarrel with anyone without cause,
when no harm has been done to you.(Y)
31 Do not envy the violent,
and do not choose any of their ways,(Z)
32 for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence.(AA)
33 The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the abode of the righteous.(AB)
34 Toward the scorners he is scornful,
but to the humble he shows favor.(AC)
35 The wise will inherit honor,
but stubborn fools, disgrace.

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being
3 My son,(A) do not forget my teaching,(B)
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years(C)
and bring you peace and prosperity.(D)
3 Let love and faithfulness(E) never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.(F)
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.(G)
5 Trust in the Lord(H) with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths(I) straight.[a](J)

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.
28 Do not say to your neighbor,
“Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—
when you already have it with you.(AT)
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor,
who lives trustfully near you.(AU)
30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason—
when they have done you no harm.

3 Anak, huwag mong kalilimutan ang mga itinuturo ko sa iyo. Ingatan mo sa iyong puso ang mga iniuutos ko, 2 sapagkat ito ang magpapahaba at magpapaunlad ng iyong buhay. 3 Manatili kang mapagmahal at matapat; alalahanin mo itong lagi at itanim sa iyong isipan. 4 Kapag ginawa mo ito, malulugod ang Dios pati na ang mga tao.
5 Magtiwala ka nang buong puso sa Panginoon at huwag kang manalig sa iyong sariling karunungan. 6 Alalahanin mo ang Panginoon sa lahat ng iyong ginagawa at ituturo niya sa iyo ang tamang landas. 7 Huwag mong isipin na napakarunong mo na. Matakot ka sa Panginoon, at huwag gumawa ng masama. 8 Para iyon sa ikabubuti at ikalalakas ng iyong katawan. 9 Parangalan mo ang Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng paghahandog sa kanya ng mga unang bunga ng iyong ani. 10 Kapag ginawa mo ito, mapupuno ng ani ang iyong mga bodega at aapaw ang inumin sa iyong mga sisidlan.
11 Anak, huwag mong mamasamain kapag itinatama ka ng Panginoon upang ituwid ang iyong pag-uugali. 12 Sapagkat itinutuwid ng Panginoon ang ugali ng kanyang mga minamahal, katulad ng ginagawa ng isang ama sa kanyang anak na kinalulugdan.
13 Mapalad ang taong may karunungan at pang-unawa. 14 Higit pa ito sa pilak at ginto, 15 at sa ano pa mang mga mamahaling bato. Walang anumang bagay ang maaaring ipantay dito. 16 Magpapahaba ito ng iyong buhay, magpapaunlad ng iyong kabuhayan at magbibigay sa iyo ng karangalan. 17 Ang karunungan ay magpapabuti ng iyong kalagayan. 18 Mapalad ang taong may karunungan, dahil magbibigay ito ng mabuti at mahabang buhay.
19-20 Sa pamamagitan ng karunungan, nilikha ng Panginoon ang lupa at ang langit, at bumukas ang mga bukal at mula sa mga ulap ay bumuhos ang ulan.
21 Anak, ingatan mo ang iyong karunungan at kaalaman sa pagpapasya ng tama. Huwag mong hayaang mawala ito sa iyo. 22 Sapagkat ito ang magbibigay sa iyo ng mahaba at magandang buhay. 23 Mabubuhay kang ligtas sa anumang kapahamakan. 24 Makakatulog ka nang mahimbing at walang kinakatakutan. 25 Hindi ka dapat matakot kung biglang dumating ang mga pangyayaring nakakatakot o kung lilipulin na ang masasama, 26 dahil makakaasa ka na babantayan ka ng Panginoon at ilalayo sa kapahamakan.
27 Hanggaʼt makakaya mo, tulungan mo ang mga dapat tulungan. 28 Huwag mo nang ipagpabukas pa, kung kaya mo naman silang tulungan ngayon.
29 Huwag mong pagplanuhan ng masama ang kapitbahay mo na nagtitiwala sa iyo.
30 Huwag kang makipagtalo sa kapwa mo nang walang sapat na dahilan, lalo na kung wala naman siyang ginawang masama sa iyo.
31 Huwag kang mainggit sa taong malupit o gayahin ang kanyang mga ginagawa. 32 Sapagkat nasusuklam ang Panginoon sa mga taong baluktot ang pag-iisip, ngunit nagtitiwala siya sa mga namumuhay nang matuwid.
33 Isinusumpa ng Panginoon ang sambahayan ng masasama, ngunit pinagpapala niya ang sambahayan ng mga matuwid.
34 Hinahamak niya ang mga nanghahamak ng kapwa, ngunit binibiyayaan niya ang mga mapagpakumbaba.
35 Ang mga marunong ay pararangalan, ngunit ang mga hangal ay ilalagay sa kahihiyan.
