The Passover
9 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, in the second year after they came out from the land of Egypt, in the first month, saying, 2 “Let the Israelites[a] observe the Passover at its appointed time. 3 On the fourteenth day of this month at twilight[b] you will perform it at its appointed time according to all its decrees; and according to all its stipulations you will observe it.” 4 So Moses spoke to the Israelites[c] to observe the Passover. 5 And they observed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight[d] in the desert of Sinai. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, thus the Israelites[e] did.
6 And it happened, men who were unclean by a dead person[f] were not able to perform the Passover on that day. And they came before[g] Moses and Aaron on that day. 7 And those men said to him, “Although we are unclean by a dead person,[h] why are we hindered from presenting the offering of Yahweh at its appointed time in the midst of the Israelites?”[i] 8 Moses said to them, “Stay. I will hear what Yahweh commands to you.”
9 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the Israelites,[j] saying, ‘Each man that is unclean by a dead person[k] or is on a far journey, you or your descendants,[l] he will observe the Passover of Yahweh. 11 On the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight[m] they will observe it; they will eat it with unleavened bread and bitter plants. 12 They will leave none of it until morning, and they will not break a bone in it; they will observe it according to every decree of the Passover. 13 But the man who is clean and not on a journey, and he fails to observe the Passover, that person will be cut off from the people because he did not present the offering of Yahweh on its appointed time. That man will bear his guilt. 14 If an alien dwells with you he will observe the Passover of Yahweh according to the decree of the Passover and according to its stipulation; thus you will have one decree for you, for the alien and for the native of the land.’”
The Cloud and the Fire
15 And on a day setting up the tabernacle, the cloud covered the tent of the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony; in the evening it was on the tabernacle as an appearance of fire until morning. 16 So it was[n] continually; the cloud would cover it and the appearance of fire by night. 17 Whenever the cloud lifted up from on the tent, after that the Israelites[o] would set out, and in the place where the cloud dwelled, there the Israelites[p] camped. 18 On the command of Yahweh[q] the Israelites[r] would set out, and on the command of Yahweh[s] they encamped; all the days that the cloud dwelled on the tabernacle they encamped. 19 And when the cloud prolonged on the tabernacle many days the Israelites[t] kept the kept requirement of Yahweh and did not set out. 20 When the cloud remained[u] a number of days on the tabernacle, on the command of Yahweh[v] they encamped; and on the command of Yahweh[w] they set out. 21 When the cloud remained[x] from evening until morning, and the cloud lifted up in the morning, they would set out, or if it remained in the daytime and at night, when the cloud lifted up they set out. 22 When it was two days, a month, or a year[y] that the cloud prolonged to dwell on the tabernacle, the Israelites[z] encamped, and they did not set out; when it lifted up they set out. 23 On the command of Yahweh[aa] they encamped, and on the command of Yahweh[ab] they set out. They kept the requirement of Yahweh, on the command of Yahweh[ac] in the hand of Moses.[ad]

N’amugamba nti, 2 “Lagira abaana ba Isirayiri bakwatenga Embaga ey’Okuyitako mu ntuuko zaayo nga bwe kyalagirwa. 3 (B)Mugikwatanga mu ntuuko zaayo ezaalagirwa ku lunaku olw’ekkumi n’ennya olw’omwezi guno nga buwungeera, ng’amateeka n’ebiragiro byako bwe bigamba.”
4 Bw’atyo Musa n’agamba abaana ba Isirayiri okukwata Embaga ey’Okuyitako; 5 (C)era ne bakola bwe batyo mu Ddungu lya Sinaayi ku lunaku olw’ekkumi n’ennya olw’omwezi ogw’olubereberye nga buwungeera. Abaana ba Isirayiri baakola ebyo byonna nga Mukama bwe yalagira Musa.
6 (D)Naye waaliwo abantu abamu abataasobola kukwata Mbaga ey’Okuyitako ku lunaku olwo, kubanga tebaali balongoofu olwokubanga baali bakutte ku mufu. Bwe batyo ne bajja eri Musa ne Alooni ku lunaku olwo lwennyini, 7 ne bagamba Musa nti, “Tetuli balongoofu kubanga twakutte ku mufu; lwaki tugaanibwa okuleetera Mukama ekiweebwayo kye, awamu n’abaana ba Isirayiri, mu ntuuko zaakyo ezaalagirwa?”
8 (E)Musa n’abaddamu nti, “Mulinde mmale okumanya Mukama Katonda ky’anandagira ku nsonga yammwe.”
9 Awo Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa nti, 10 (F)“Yogera eri abaana ba Isirayiri obagambe nti, ‘Omu ku mmwe, oba omu ku bazzukulu bammwe ab’omu mirembe egiriddawo, singa afuuka atali mulongoofu olw’okukwata ku mufu, oba nga taliiwo yagenda olugendo olw’ewala, anaakwatanga Embaga ey’Okuyitako eya Mukama Katonda. 11 (G)Banaakwatanga embaga eyo ku lunaku olw’ekkumi n’ennya mu mwezi ogwokubiri akawungeezi. Omwana gw’endiga banaagulyanga n’omugaati ogutali muzimbulukuse n’enva ez’ebikoola ebikaawa. 12 (H)Tebagulekangawo okutuusa enkeera, wadde okumenya ku magumba gaagwo. Bwe banaakwatanga Embaga ey’Okuyitako kinaabasaaniranga okukola ng’amateeka g’embaga eyo bwe galagira. 13 (I)Naye omuntu omulongoofu ate nga teyagenda lugendo, kyokka n’atakwata Mbaga ey’Okuyitako, anaawaŋŋangusibwanga n’ava mu banne, kubanga teyaleeta kiweebwayo kya Mukama Katonda mu ntuuko zaakyo. Ekibi ky’omuntu oyo kinaabeeranga ku mutwe gwe.
14 (J)“ ‘Omunnaggwanga anaabeeranga mu mmwe bw’anaabanga ayagala okukwata Embaga ey’Okuyitako kwa Mukama Katonda anaagikwatanga ng’agoberera amateeka n’ebiragiro byayo. Munaabanga n’ebiragiro byebimu ebinaagobererwanga bannaggwanga era ne bannansi.’ ”

15 (K)Ku lunaku Weema ya Mukama ey’Endagaano lwe yasimbibwa, ekire ne kigibikka. Okuva akawungeezi okutuusa ku makya ekire ekyali waggulu wa Weema ne kifaanana ng’omuliro. 16 Bwe kityo bwe kyabeeranga; ekire kyagibikkanga emisana naye ekiro ne kifaanana ng’omuliro. 17 (L)Era ekire buli lwe kyaggyibwanga ku Weema, olwo abaana ba Isirayiri ne basitula mu lugendo lwabwe; era awo ekire ekyo we kyayimiriranga, nga n’abaana ba Isirayiri we basiisira. 18 Mukama bwe yalagiranga abaana ba Isirayiri okusitula mu lugendo lwabwe, nga basitula; Mukama bwe yabalagiranga okukuba olusiisira nga bakola bwe batyo. Ebbanga lyonna ekire lye kyamalanga waggulu wa Weema nga nabo lye bamala mu lusiisira lwabwe. 19 Ekire ne bwe kyamalanga ennaku ennyingi waggulu wa Weema, abaana ba Isirayiri baagonderanga ekiragiro kya Mukama Katonda ne batasitula kutambula. 20 Oluusi ekire kyamalanga ennaku ntono waggulu wa Weema; naye ng’ekiragiro kya Mukama Katonda bwe kyali, nga basigala mu lusiisira lwabwe; kyokka oluvannyuma nga basitula okutambula ng’ekiragiro kya Mukama Katonda bwe kyabanga. 21 Oluusi ekire kyabeerangawo okuva akawungeezi okutuusa mu makya; naye ekire bwe kyaggyibwangawo mu makya, ng’olwo basitula okutambula; oba bwe kyasigalangawo olunaku n’ekiro kyonna oluvannyuma ne kiggyibwawo, ng’olwo basitula okutambula. 22 Ekire ne bwe kyabeeranga waggulu wa Weema okumala ennaku ebbiri oba omwezi, abaana ba Isirayiri nga babeera awo mu lusiisira lwabwe nga tebasitula kutambula; naye bwe kyaggyibwangawo ng’olwo basitula okutambula. 23 Mukama bwe yabalagiranga okusigala, nga basigala mu lusiisira lwabwe nga bawummudde, ate Mukama bwe yabalagiranga okutambula, nga basitula okutambula. Baagonderanga ekiragiro kya Mukama nga bwe yalagira Musa.

The Passover
9 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month(A) of the second year after they came out of Egypt.(B) He said, 2 “Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover(C) at the appointed time.(D) 3 Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month,(E) in accordance with all its rules and regulations.(F)”
4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover,(G) 5 and they did so in the Desert of Sinai(H) at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.(I) The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.(J)
6 But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean(K) on account of a dead body.(L) So they came to Moses and Aaron(M) that same day 7 and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?(N)”
8 Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”(O)
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, 10 “Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body(P) or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate(Q) the Lord’s Passover, 11 but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month(R) at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.(S) 12 They must not leave any of it till morning(T) or break any of its bones.(U) When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations.(V) 13 But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people(W) for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.
14 “‘A foreigner(X) residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’”
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
15 On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law,(Y) was set up,(Z) the cloud(AA) covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.(AB) 16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(AC) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(AD) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(AE) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(AF) in camp. 19 When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order(AG) and did not set out.(AH) 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

The Second Passover(A)
9 Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2 “Let the children of Israel keep (B)the Passover at its appointed (C)time. 3 On the fourteenth day of this month, [a]at twilight, you shall [b]keep it at its appointed time. According to all its [c]rites and ceremonies you shall keep it.” 4 So Moses told the children of Israel that they should keep the Passover. 5 And (D)they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month, at twilight, in the Wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did.
6 Now there were certain men who were (E)defiled by a human corpse, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day; (F)and they came before Moses and Aaron that day. 7 And those men said to him, “We became defiled by a human corpse. Why are we kept from presenting the offering of the Lord at its appointed time among the children of Israel?”
8 And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that (G)I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”
9 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If anyone of you or your [d]posterity is unclean because of a corpse, or is far away on a journey, he may still keep the Lord’s Passover. 11 On (H)the fourteenth day of the second month, at twilight, they may keep it. They shall (I)eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12 (J)They shall leave none of it until morning, (K)nor break one of its bones. (L)According to all the [e]ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it. 13 But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, and ceases to keep the Passover, that same person (M)shall be cut off from among his people, because he (N)did not bring the offering of the Lord at its appointed time; that man shall (O)bear his sin.
14 ‘And if a stranger [f]dwells among you, and would keep the Lord’s Passover, he must do so according to the rite of the Passover and according to its ceremony; (P)you shall have one [g]ordinance, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’ ”
The Cloud and the Fire(Q)
15 Now (R)on the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud (S)covered the tabernacle, the tent of the Testimony; (T)from evening until morning it was above the tabernacle like the appearance of fire. 16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. 17 Whenever the cloud (U)was [h]taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. 18 At the [i]command of the Lord the children of Israel would journey, and at the command of the Lord they would camp; (V)as long as the cloud stayed above the tabernacle they remained encamped. 19 Even when the cloud continued long, many days above the tabernacle, the children of Israel (W)kept the charge of the Lord and did not journey. 20 So it was, when the cloud was above the tabernacle a few days: according to the command of the Lord they would remain encamped, and according to the command of the Lord they would journey. 21 So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22 Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel (X)would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey. 23 At the command of the Lord they remained encamped, and at the command of the Lord they journeyed; they (Y)kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
