Offerings of the Leaders

Now it happened on (A)the day that Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he (B)anointed it and set it apart as holy with all its furnishings and the altar and all its utensils; he anointed them and set them apart as holy. Then (C)the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ households, (D)brought an offering near (they were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ones who [a]were over the [b]numbered men). And they brought their offering before Yahweh, six (E)covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders and an ox for each one, and they brought them near before the tabernacle. Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Accept these things from them, that they may be [c]used in the service of the tent of meeting, and you shall give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.” So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. Two carts and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon, according to (F)their service, and four carts and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari, according to (G)their service, under the [d]direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. ¶ And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle and had anointed it and sanctified it with all its vessels; likewise having anointed and sanctified the altar, with all its vessels;

that the princes of Israel, heads of the houses of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over those that were numbered, offered;

and they brought their offerings before the LORD, six covered wagons and twelve oxen: a wagon for each two of the princes and for each one an ox, which they offered before the tabernacle.

And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

Take it from them, and it shall be for the service of the tabernacle of the testimony; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to each one according to his ministry.
