The Second Census
26 After the plague, the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, 2 “Take a census of the entire Israelite community by their ancestral houses of those 20 years old or more who can serve in Israel’s army.”(A)
3 So Moses and Eleazar the priest said to them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, 4 “Take a census of those 20 years old or more, as the Lord had commanded Moses and the Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt.”(B)
5 Reuben(C) was the firstborn of Israel.
Reuben’s descendants:
the Hanochite clan from Hanoch;
the Palluite clan from Pallu;
6 the Hezronite clan from Hezron;
the Carmite clan from Carmi.
7 These were the Reubenite clans,
and their registered men numbered 43,730.
8 The son of Pallu was Eliab.
9 The sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram.
(It was Dathan and Abiram, chosen by the community, who fought against Moses and Aaron; they and Korah’s followers fought against the Lord.(D) 10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them with Korah, when his followers died and the fire consumed 250 men.(E) They serve as a warning sign. 11 The sons of Korah, however, did not die.)
12 Simeon’s descendants by their clans:
the Nemuelite clan from Nemuel;[a](F)
the Jaminite clan from Jamin;
the Jachinite clan from Jachin;
13 the Zerahite clan from Zerah;
the Shaulite clan from Shaul.
14 These were the Simeonite clans, numbering 22,200 men.
15 Gad’s descendants by their clans:
the Zephonite clan from Zephon;
the Haggite clan from Haggi;
the Shunite clan from Shuni;
16 the Oznite clan from Ozni;
the Erite clan from Eri;
17 the Arodite clan from Arod;
the Arelite clan from Areli.
18 These were the Gadite clans numbered by their registered men: 40,500.
19 Judah’s sons included Er and Onan, but they died in the land of Canaan.(G) 20 Judah’s descendants by their clans:
the Shelanite clan from Shelah;
the Perezite clan from Perez;
the Zerahite clan from Zerah.
21 The descendants of Perez:
the Hezronite clan from Hezron;
the Hamulite clan from Hamul.
22 These were Judah’s clans numbered by their registered men: 76,500.
23 Issachar’s descendants by their clans:
the Tolaite clan from Tola;
the Punite clan from Puvah;[b](H)
24 the Jashubite clan from Jashub;
the Shimronite clan from Shimron.
25 These were Issachar’s clans numbered by their registered men: 64,300.
26 Zebulun’s descendants by their clans:
the Seredite clan from Sered;
the Elonite clan from Elon;
the Jahleelite clan from Jahleel.
27 These were the Zebulunite clans numbered by their registered men: 60,500.
28 Joseph’s descendants by their clans from Manasseh and Ephraim:
29 Manasseh’s descendants:
the Machirite clan from Machir.
Machir fathered Gilead;
the Gileadite clan from Gilead.
30 These were Gilead’s descendants:
the Iezerite clan from Iezer;
the Helekite clan from Helek;
31 the Asrielite clan from Asriel;
the Shechemite clan from Shechem;
32 the Shemidaite clan from Shemida;
the Hepherite clan from Hepher;
33 Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons—only daughters. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.(I)
34 These were Manasseh’s clans, numbered by their registered men: 52,700.
35 These were Ephraim’s descendants by their clans:
the Shuthelahite clan from Shuthelah;
the Becherite clan from Becher;
the Tahanite clan from Tahan.
36 These were Shuthelah’s descendants:
the Eranite clan from Eran.
37 These were the Ephraimite clans numbered by their registered men: 32,500.
These were Joseph’s descendants by their clans.
38 Benjamin’s descendants by their clans:
the Belaite clan from Bela;
the Ashbelite clan from Ashbel;
the Ahiramite clan from Ahiram;
39 the Shuphamite clan from Shupham;[c]
the Huphamite clan from Hupham.
40 Bela’s descendants from Ard and Naaman:
the Ardite clan from Ard;
the Naamite clan from Naaman.
41 These were the Benjaminite clans numbered by their registered men: 45,600.
42 These were Dan’s descendants by their clans:
the Shuhamite clan from Shuham.
These were the clans of Dan by their clans.
43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered by their registered men: 64,400.
44 Asher’s descendants by their clans:
the Imnite clan from Imnah;
the Ishvite clan from Ishvi;
the Beriite clan from Beriah.
45 From Beriah’s descendants:
the Heberite clan from Heber;
the Malchielite clan from Malchiel.
46 And the name of Asher’s daughter was Serah.
47 These were the Asherite clans numbered by their registered men: 53,400.
48 Naphtali’s descendants by their clans:
the Jahzeelite clan from Jahzeel;
the Gunite clan from Guni;
49 the Jezerite clan from Jezer;
the Shillemite clan from Shillem.
50 These were the Naphtali clans numbered by their registered men: 45,400.
51 These registered Israelite men numbered 601,730.
52 The Lord spoke to Moses, 53 “The land is to be divided among them as an inheritance based on the number of names. 54 Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one. Each is to be given its inheritance according to those who were registered in it. 55 The land must be divided by lot; they will receive an inheritance according to the names of their ancestral tribes. 56 Each inheritance will be divided by lot among the larger and smaller tribes.”(J)
57 These were the Levites registered by their clans:
the Gershonite clan from Gershon;
the Kohathite clan from Kohath;
the Merarite clan from Merari.
58 These were the Levite family groups:
the Libnite clan,
the Hebronite clan,
the Mahlite clan,
the Mushite clan,
and the Korahite clan.(K)
Kohath was the ancestor of Amram. 59 The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, a descendant of Levi, born to Levi in Egypt. She bore to Amram: Aaron, Moses, and their sister Miriam. 60 Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar were born to Aaron, 61 but Nadab and Abihu died when they presented unauthorized fire before the Lord.(L) 62 Those registered were 23,000, every male one month old or more; they were not registered among the other Israelites, because no inheritance was given to them among the Israelites.
63 These were the ones registered by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they registered the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho. 64 But among them there was not one of those who had been registered by Moses and Aaron the priest when they registered the Israelites in the Wilderness of Sinai.(M) 65 For the Lord had said to them that they would all die in the wilderness. None of them was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

26 [a]Then it came about after the (A)plague, [b]that the Lord spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, 2 “(B)Take a [c]census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ households, whoever is able to go to war in Israel.” 3 So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them (C)in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying, 4 “Take a census of the people from twenty years old and upward, as the Lord has commanded Moses.”
Now the sons of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt were as follows:
5 Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites; 6 of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites. 7 These are the families of the Reubenites, and those who were counted of them were (D)43,730. 8 The son of Pallu: Eliab. 9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These are the Dathan and Abiram who were (E)called by the congregation, who fought against Moses and against Aaron in the group of Korah, when they fought against the Lord, 10 and (F)the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up along with Korah, when that group died, (G)when the fire devoured 250 men, so that they became a warning sign. 11 (H)The sons of Korah, however, did not die.

28 The (R)sons of Joseph by their families: Manasseh and Ephraim. 29 The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and (S)Machir fathered Gilead: of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites. 30 These are the sons of Gilead: of [l]Iezer, the family of the (T)Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites; 31 and of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites; 32 and of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites. 33 Now Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters; and (U)the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 34 These are the families of Manasseh; and those who were numbered of them were (V)52,700.
35 These are the sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; of [m]Becher, the family of the Becherites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites. 36 These are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites. 37 These are the families of the sons of Ephraim by those who were numbered of them, (W)32,500. These are the sons of Joseph by their families.
38 The sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of [n]Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites; 39 of [o]Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of [p]Hupham, the family of the Huphamites. 40 The sons of Bela were [q]Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites. 41 These are the sons of Benjamin by their families; and those who were numbered of them were (X)45,600.
42 These are the sons of Dan by their families: of [r]Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan by their families. 43 All the families of the Shuhamites, by those who were numbered of them, were (Y)64,400.
44 The (Z)sons of Asher by their families: of Imnah, the family of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the family of the Beriites. 45 Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites. 46 And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah. 47 These are the families of the sons of Asher by those who were numbered of them, (AA)53,400.
48 The (AB)sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites; 49 of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; of (AC)Shillem, the family of the Shillemites. 50 These are the families of Naphtali by their families; and those who were numbered of them were (AD)45,400.
51 These are the ones who were numbered of the sons of Israel, (AE)601,730.
52 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 53 “[s]Among these the land shall be divided as an inheritance according to the number of names. 54 (AF)To a larger group you shall increase their inheritance, and to a smaller group you shall decrease their inheritance; each shall be given their inheritance corresponding to the total of those who were numbered of them. 55 But the land shall be (AG)divided by lot. They shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers. 56 Corresponding to the selection by lot, their inheritance shall be divided between the larger and the smaller groups.”
57 (AH)These are those who were numbered of the Levites according to their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites. 58 These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, and the family of the Korahites. 63 These are the ones who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64 (AP)But among these there was not a man of those who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65 For the Lord had said [u]of them, “(AQ)They shall certainly die in the wilderness.” And not a man was left of them, (AR)except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

26 त्यो डरलाग्दो महामारी पछि परमप्रभुले मोशा र पूजाहारी हारूनको छोरो एलाजारलाई भन्नुभयो, 2 “सम्पूर्ण इस्राएली मानिसहरूको समुदायमा जो बीस बर्ष अथवा वेशी उमेरका छन्। तिनीहरूलाई गन र तिनीहरूलाई लडाँईमा जान उपयुक्त हुने परिवार अनुसार सूची बनाऊ।”
3 यसकारण मोशा र पूजाहारी एलाजारले तिनीहरूसित यरीहोको पारी यर्दन नदीको नजिक मोआबको मैदानमा कुरा गरे। तिनीहरूले भने, 4 “इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरू जो बीस बर्ष भन्दा माथिको छन् सबैको गन्ती गर, परमप्रभुले मोशा र इस्राएलीहरूलाई आज्ञा गर्नु भए जस्तो जो मिश्रबाट बाहिर आए।”
5 रूबेन इस्राएलको जेठो छोरो हो। रूबेनका सन्तान यस प्रकारले छन्;
हनोकबाट हनोकीहरूको कुलसमूह,
पल्लूबाट पल्लूईहरूको कुल समूह,
6 हिस्रोनबाट हिस्रोनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
कर्मीबाट कर्मीहरूको कुल समूह।
7 रूबेनहरूका कुलका कुलसमूह यिनीहरू नै थिए। मानिसहरूको जन संख्या 43,730 थियो।
8 पल्लूका छोरो एलीआब थिए। 9 एलीआबका छोराहरू नमूएल, दातान र अबीराम थिए। यी तिनै दातान र अबीराम हुन् जसलाई समुदायबाट चुने अनि तिनीहरू नै मोशा र हारूनको विरोधमा गए। जब तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुको विरोध गरे दातान र अबीराम कोरहको अनुयायीहरूको वीचमा थिए। 10 अनि पृथ्वी चर्किएर मुख बायो अनि कोरह र तिनीहरूलाई निल्यो। जब कोरहको अनुयायीहरू मरे अनि जब 250 जना मानिसहरूलाई आगोले भस्म पार्यो मानिसहरूलाई चेतावनीको निम्ति एउटा दृष्टान्त भयो। 11 तर कोरहका छोराहरू मरेनन्।
12 कुलसमूह अनुसार शिमोनको सन्तानहरू यी नै हुन्;
नमूएलबाट नमूएलको कुलसमूह,
यामीनबाट यामीनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
याकीनबाट याकीनीको कुलसमूह,
13 जेरहबाट जेरहीहरूको कुलसमूह,
शाऊलबाट शाऊलहीहरूको कुलसमूह,
14 शिमोनहरूका कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यी नै थिए। तिनीहरूमा जम्मा 22,200 मानिसहरू थिए।
15 तिनीहरूको कुलसमूह अनुसार गादको कुलसमूह यस प्रकारको थियोः
सपोनबाट सपोनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हाग्गैबाट हाग्गैहरूको कुलसमूह,
शूनीबाट शूनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
16 ओजनीबाट ओजनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
एरीबाट एरीहरूको कुलसमूह,
17 अरोदाबाट अरोदाहरूको कुलसमूह
अरेलीबाट अरेलीहरूको कुलसमूह भए।
18 गादाहरूको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यस प्रकारका थिए र तिनीहरूको जन संख्या 40,500 थियो।
19-20 यहूदाका छोराहरू एर र ओनान थिए र तिनीहरू कनान देशमा मरे। तिनीहरूको कुलसमूह अनुसार यहूदाको सन्तान यस प्रकारको थियोः
शेलहबाट शेलानीहरूको कुलसमूह,
पेरेसबाट पेरेसीहरूको कुलसमूह,
जेरहबाट जेरहातीहरूको कुलसमूह भए।
21 पेरेसका सन्तानहरू यस प्रकारका थिएः
हेस्रोनबाट हेस्रोनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हमूलबाट हामूलीहरूको कुलसमूह।
22 यहूदाको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यही हो र तिनीहरूको जम्मा जन-संख्या 76,500 थियो।
23 तिनीहरूको कुलसमूह अनुसार इस्साकारको सन्तान यस प्रकारको थियोः
तोलाबाट तोलाहीहरूको कुलसमूह,
पुव्वाबाट पुव्वाहीहरूको कुलसमूह।
24 याशूबबाट याशूबीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हिम्रोनबाट हिम्रोनीहरूको कुलसमूह।
25 इस्साकारको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यही हो र तिनीहरूको जनसंख्या 64,300 थियो।
26 तिनीहरूको कुलसमूह अनुसार जबूलूनको सन्तान यस प्रकारको थियोः
सेरेदबाट सेरेदीहरूको कुलसमूह,
एलोनबाट एलोनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
यहलेलबाट यहेलेलीको कुलसमूह भए।
27 जबूलूनको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यही हो र तिनीहरूको जनसंख्या 60,500 थियो।
28 यूसुफका मनश्शे र एप्रैम नाम गरेका दुइ जना छोराहरू थिए। 29 मनश्शेबाट भएका सन्तानहरू यिनीहरू नै हुन्
माकीरबाट माकीरी कुलसमूह, (माकीर गिलादका बाबु थिए)
गिलादबाट गिलादीहरूको कुलसमूह,
30 गिलादबाट भएका सन्तानहरूः
ईएजरेबाट ईएजेरीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हेलेकबाट हेलेकीहरूको कुलसमूह,
31 अस्त्रीएलबाट अस्त्रीलीहरूको कुलसमूह,
शेकेमबाट शेकेमीहरूको कुलसमूह,
32 शमीदाबाट शमीदीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हपेरबाट हेपेरीहरूको कुलसमूह
33 सलोफाहद हेपेरका छोरो थिए। यिनीबाट कुनै छोरो जन्मेन तर छोरीहरू मात्रै जन्मे। शलोफाहदका छोरीहरू थिए महला, नोआ, होग्लाह, मिल्का अनि तिर्सा।
34 मनश्शेको कुलको कुलसमूहहरू यस प्रकारको छ। तिनीहरूको जन संख्या 52,700 थियो।
35 एप्रैमको कुलसमूह यस प्रकार छः
शूतेलहबाट शूतेलहीहरूको कुलसमूह,
बेकेरबाट बेकेरीहरूको कुलसमूह,
तहनबाट तहनीहरूको कुलसमूह।
36 शूतेलहका कुलसमूह यस प्रकारका थिएः
एरानबाट एरानीहरूको कुलसमूह।
37 एप्रैमको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यस प्रकार थिए अनि तिनीहरू को जन-संख्या 32,500 थियो। यूसुफको कुल-कुलसमूहहरू तिनीहरू नै हुन्।
38 बिन्यामीनका कुलसमूहहरू यिनीहरू हुन्;
बेलाबाट बेलाही कुलसमूह,
अशबेलबाट अशबेलिहरूको कुलसमूह,
अहीरामबाट अहीरामीहरूको कुलसमूह,
39 शूपामबाट शपामीहरूको कुलसमूह
हुपामबाट हुपामीहरूको कुलसमूह भए।
40 अर्द र नामन बेलाका छोराहरू हुन्;
अर्दबाट अर्दीहरूको कुलसमूह,
नामानबाट नामानीहरूको कुलसमूह भए।
41 बिन्यामीनको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यिनीहरू नै थिए। तिनीहरूको जन-संख्या 45,600 थियो।
42 दानका कुलसमूह यिनीहरू हुन्;
शूहामबाट शूहामीहरूको कुलसमूह
43 दानको कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यिनीहरू नै थिए अनि सबै शूहामीहरूको जन-संख्या 64,400 थियो।
44 आशेरको कुलसमूहहरू यस प्रकार थिएः
यिम्नाहबाट यिम्नानीहरूको कुलसमूह,
यिशवी बाट यिश्वीहरूको कुलसमूह,
बेरीयहबाट बेरीयाहरूको कुलसमूह,
45 बेरीयाहबाट यी परिवारहरू थिएः
हेबेरबाट हेबेरीहरूको कुलसमूह,
मल्कीएलबाट मल्कीएहरूको कुलसमूह।
46 (आशेरको सेरह नाम गरेकी छोरी थिई)। 47 कुलसमूह अनुसार आशेर कुलका यही कुलसमूहहरू थिए र तिनीहरूको जन-संख्या 53,400 थियो।
48 कुलसमूह अनुसार नप्तालीबाट यी कुलसमूहहरू थिएः
यहसेलबाट यहसेलीहरूको कुलसमूह,
गुनीबाट गुनीहरूको कुलसमूह
49 येसेरबाट येसेरीहरूको कुलसमूह
शिल्लेमबाट शिल्लेमीहरूको कुलसमूह।
50 कुलसमूह अनुसार नप्ताली कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यिनीहरू नै थिए अनि यिनीहरूको जन-संख्या 45,400 थियो।
51 यसर्थ इस्राएली मानिसहरूको जन-संख्या 6,01,730 थियो।
52 परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, 53 “यी मानिसहरू माझ भूमि वितरण गरिन्छ र तिनीहरूलाई दिइन्छ। यसरी ती सबै गन्तीमा परेका मानिसहरू प्रत्येकले प्रशस्त भूमि पाउनेछन्। 54 ठूलो परिवारले धेरै र सानो परिवारले कम्ती गरी भूमि पाउनेछन्। तिनीहरूलाई दिइएको भूमि गन्ती गरिएका मानिसहरू बराबर हुनेछ। 55 तर कसले कुन इलाका पाउने हो त्यो चिठ्ठाद्वारा निर्णय गरिनेछ अनि आफ्ना पुर्खाका कुल अनुसार नाममा तिनीहरू आफ्नो इलाका निर्धारित हुनेछ। 56 प्रत्येक कुल समूहको अंश चिठ्ठाद्वारा निर्धारण गरिनेछ।”
57 कुलसमूह अनुसार गन्ती गरिएका लेवी कुलका कुलसमूहहरू यिनीहरू नै हुन्।

कहातबाट कहातीहरूको कुलसमूह
मरारीबाट मरारीहरूको कुलसमूह भए।
58 लेवी कुलको कुलसमूहहरू यी नै हुन्।
लिब्नीहरूको कुलसमूह,
हेब्रोनीहरूको कुलसमूह,
महलीहरूको कुलसमूह,
मूशीहरूको कुलसमूह,
कोरहीहरूको कुलसमूह।
कहात अम्रामका पिता थिए। 59 अम्रामकी पत्नीको नाम योकेबेद थियो अनि तिनी लेवी कुलसमूहकी थिइन्। तिनी मिश्रदेशमा लेवी कुलमा जन्मेकी थिइन्। अनि योकेबेल आम्रामका निम्ति, हारून, मोशा र मरियमलाई जन्माईन्।
60 हारून नादाब, अबीहू, एलाजार अनि इतामारका पिता थिए। 61 तर नादाब र अबीहू परमप्रभुको अघि अनुमति नभएको आगोमा बलि चढाएको कारणले मरे।
62 एक महीना र अधिक उमरेका पुरूष गन्दा लेवीहरूको संख्या 23,000 थियो। तिनीहरू मानिसहरूसित गनिएनन् कारण तिनीहरूले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूसित भूमिमा अंश पाएनन्।
63 यी मानिसहरूको गन्ती मोशा र पूजाहारी एलाजारले गरेका थिए। मोशा र एलाजार पूजाहारीले इस्राएली मानिसहरूको गन्ती यरीहोको पारी यर्दन नदीको किनार मोआबको मैदानमा गरेका थिए। 64 धेरै दिन अघि सिनै मरुभूमिमा मोशा र हारूनले जुन इस्राएली मानिसहरूको गन्ती गरेका थिए तिनीहरू मरिसके अनि तिनीहरूमा कोही पनि जीवित थिएनन्। 65 किनभने तिनीहरू मरुभूमिमा मर्छन भनी परमप्रभुले भन्नु भएको थियो। तिनीहरू मध्ये बाँचेकाहरू हुन् यपुन्नेको छोरो कालेब र नूनको छोरो यहोशू।

The Second Census
26 After the plague(A) the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest, 2 “Take a census(B) of the whole Israelite community by families—all those twenty years old or more who are able to serve in the army(C) of Israel.” 3 So on the plains of Moab(D) by the Jordan across from Jericho,(E) Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them and said, 4 “Take a census of the men twenty years old or more, as the Lord commanded Moses.”
These were the Israelites who came out of Egypt:(F)
5 The descendants of Reuben,(G) the firstborn son of Israel, were:
through Hanok,(H) the Hanokite clan;
through Pallu,(I) the Palluite clan;
6 through Hezron,(J) the Hezronite clan;
through Karmi,(K) the Karmite clan.
7 These were the clans of Reuben; those numbered were 43,730.
8 The son of Pallu was Eliab, 9 and the sons of Eliab(L) were Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. The same Dathan and Abiram were the community(M) officials who rebelled against Moses and Aaron and were among Korah’s followers when they rebelled against the Lord.(N) 10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them(O) along with Korah, whose followers died when the fire devoured the 250 men.(P) And they served as a warning sign.(Q) 11 The line of Korah,(R) however, did not die out.(S)
12 The descendants of Simeon by their clans were:
through Nemuel,(T) the Nemuelite clan;
through Jamin,(U) the Jaminite clan;
through Jakin, the Jakinite clan;
13 through Zerah,(V) the Zerahite clan;
through Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 These were the clans of Simeon;(W) those numbered were 22,200.(X)
15 The descendants of Gad by their clans were:
through Zephon,(Y) the Zephonite clan;
through Haggi, the Haggite clan;
through Shuni, the Shunite clan;
16 through Ozni, the Oznite clan;
through Eri, the Erite clan;
17 through Arodi,[a] the Arodite clan;
through Areli, the Arelite clan.
18 These were the clans of Gad;(Z) those numbered were 40,500.
19 Er(AA) and Onan(AB) were sons of Judah, but they died(AC) in Canaan.
20 The descendants of Judah by their clans were:
through Shelah,(AD) the Shelanite clan;
through Perez,(AE) the Perezite clan;
through Zerah, the Zerahite clan.(AF)
21 The descendants of Perez(AG) were:
through Hezron,(AH) the Hezronite clan;
through Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 These were the clans of Judah;(AI) those numbered were 76,500.
23 The descendants of Issachar by their clans were:
through Tola,(AJ) the Tolaite clan;
through Puah, the Puite[b] clan;
24 through Jashub,(AK) the Jashubite clan;
through Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25 These were the clans of Issachar;(AL) those numbered were 64,300.
26 The descendants of Zebulun(AM) by their clans were:
through Sered, the Seredite clan;
through Elon, the Elonite clan;
through Jahleel, the Jahleelite clan.
27 These were the clans of Zebulun;(AN) those numbered were 60,500.
28 The descendants of Joseph(AO) by their clans through Manasseh and Ephraim(AP) were:
29 The descendants of Manasseh:(AQ)
through Makir,(AR) the Makirite clan (Makir was the father of Gilead(AS));
through Gilead, the Gileadite clan.
30 These were the descendants of Gilead:(AT)
through Iezer,(AU) the Iezerite clan;
through Helek, the Helekite clan;
31 through Asriel, the Asrielite clan;
through Shechem, the Shechemite clan;
32 through Shemida, the Shemidaite clan;
through Hepher, the Hepherite clan.
33 (Zelophehad(AV) son of Hepher had no sons;(AW) he had only daughters, whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah.)(AX)
34 These were the clans of Manasseh; those numbered were 52,700.(AY)
35 These were the descendants of Ephraim(AZ) by their clans:
through Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan;
through Beker, the Bekerite clan;
through Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 These were the descendants of Shuthelah:
through Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 These were the clans of Ephraim;(BA) those numbered were 32,500.
These were the descendants of Joseph by their clans.
38 The descendants of Benjamin(BB) by their clans were:
through Bela, the Belaite clan;
through Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan;
through Ahiram, the Ahiramite clan;
39 through Shupham,[c] the Shuphamite clan;
through Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40 The descendants of Bela through Ard(BC) and Naaman were:
through Ard,[d] the Ardite clan;
through Naaman, the Naamite clan.
41 These were the clans of Benjamin;(BD) those numbered were 45,600.
42 These were the descendants of Dan(BE) by their clans:(BF)
through Shuham,(BG) the Shuhamite clan.
These were the clans of Dan: 43 All of them were Shuhamite clans; and those numbered were 64,400.
44 The descendants of Asher(BH) by their clans were:
through Imnah, the Imnite clan;
through Ishvi, the Ishvite clan;
through Beriah, the Beriite clan;
45 and through the descendants of Beriah:
through Heber, the Heberite clan;
through Malkiel, the Malkielite clan.
46 (Asher had a daughter named Serah.)
47 These were the clans of Asher;(BI) those numbered were 53,400.
48 The descendants of Naphtali(BJ) by their clans were:
through Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan;
through Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 through Jezer, the Jezerite clan;
through Shillem, the Shillemite clan.
50 These were the clans of Naphtali;(BK) those numbered were 45,400.(BL)
51 The total number of the men of Israel was 601,730.(BM)
52 The Lord said to Moses, 53 “The land is to be allotted to them as an inheritance based on the number of names.(BN) 54 To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one; each is to receive its inheritance according to the number(BO) of those listed.(BP) 55 Be sure that the land is distributed by lot.(BQ) What each group inherits will be according to the names for its ancestral tribe. 56 Each inheritance is to be distributed by lot among the larger and smaller groups.”
57 These were the Levites(BR) who were counted by their clans:
through Gershon, the Gershonite clan;
through Kohath, the Kohathite clan;
through Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 These also were Levite clans:
the Libnite clan,
the Hebronite clan,
the Mahlite clan,
the Mushite clan,
the Korahite clan.
(Kohath was the forefather of Amram;(BS) 59 the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed,(BT) a descendant of Levi, who was born to the Levites[e] in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses(BU) and their sister(BV) Miriam.(BW) 60 Aaron was the father of Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.(BX) 61 But Nadab and Abihu(BY) died when they made an offering before the Lord with unauthorized fire.)(BZ)
62 All the male Levites a month old or more numbered 23,000.(CA) They were not counted(CB) along with the other Israelites because they received no inheritance(CC) among them.(CD)
63 These are the ones counted(CE) by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab(CF) by the Jordan across from Jericho.(CG) 64 Not one of them was among those counted(CH) by Moses and Aaron(CI) the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai. 65 For the Lord had told those Israelites they would surely die in the wilderness,(CJ) and not one of them was left except Caleb(CK) son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.(CL)
