Nahum 1:8-10
Christian Standard Bible

8 But he will completely destroy Nineveh[a]
with an overwhelming flood,(A)
and he will chase his enemies into darkness.

9 Whatever you[b] plot against the Lord,
he will bring it to complete destruction;(B)
oppression will not rise up a second time.
10 For they will be consumed
like entangled thorns,(C)
like the drink of a drunkard
and like straw that is fully dry.[c]

New International Version

8     but with an overwhelming flood(A)
he will make an end of Nineveh;
    he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.

9 Whatever they plot(B) against the Lord
    he will bring[a] to an end;
    trouble will not come a second time.
10 They will be entangled among thorns(C)
    and drunk(D) from their wine;
    they will be consumed like dry stubble.[b](E)
