The Parable of the Hidden Treasure

44 “The kingdom of heaven (A)is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy (B)he goes and sells all that he has and (C)buys that field.

The Mustard Seed and the Leaven

31 He put another parable before them, saying, (A)“The kingdom of heaven is like (B)a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

33 He told them another parable. (C)“The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in (D)three measures of flour, till it was (E)all leavened.”

Prophecy and Parables

34 (F)All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable. 35 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet:[a]

(G)“I will open my mouth in parables;
    (H)I will utter what has been hidden (I)since the foundation of the world.”

Jesus said to them, “Watch and (A)beware of (B)the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.” But (C)Jesus, aware of this, said, (D)“O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? (E)Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember (F)the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 10 Or (G)the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 11 How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? (H)Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 (I)Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of (J)the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

23 (A)On the mountain height of Israel will I plant it, that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. (B)And under it will dwell every kind of bird; in the shade of its branches birds of every sort will nest. 24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; (C)I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up (D)the green tree, and make (E)the dry tree flourish. (F)I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”

The Feast of Weeks

15 (A)“You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the (B)wave offering. 16 You shall count (C)fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of (D)new grain to the Lord. 17 You shall bring from your dwelling places two loaves of bread to be waved, made of two tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour, and they shall be baked with leaven, as (E)firstfruits to the Lord. 18 And you shall present with the bread seven lambs a year old without blemish, and one bull from the herd and two rams. They shall be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

(A)Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that (B)a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, (C)not with the old leaven, (D)the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
