Luke 8:27-37
English Standard Version
27 When Jesus[a] had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house (A)but among the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he (B)cried out and fell down before him and said (C)with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, (D)Son of (E)the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.” 29 For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon (F)into the desert.) 30 Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, (G)“Legion,” for many demons had entered him. 31 And they begged him not to command them to depart into (H)the abyss. 32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into (I)the lake and drowned.
34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country. 35 Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting (J)at the feet of Jesus, (K)clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 36 And those who had seen it told them how the demon-possessed[b] man had been healed. 37 Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes (L)asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.

Mark 5:2-18
English Standard Version
2 And when Jesus[a] had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. 3 (A)He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, 4 for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and (B)fell down before him. 7 And (C)crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, (D)Son of (E)the Most High God? (F)I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is (G)Legion, for we are many.” 10 And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, 12 and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea.
14 The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed[b] man, the one who had had (H)the legion, sitting there, (I)clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs. 17 And (J)they began to beg Jesus[c] to depart from their region. 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.

2 (A)And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus (B)saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, (C)“Take heart, my son; (D)your sins are forgiven.” 3 And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, (E)“This man is blaspheming.” 4 But Jesus, (F)knowing[a] their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” 7 And he rose and went home. 8 When the crowds saw it, (G)they were afraid, and (H)they glorified God, who had (I)given such authority to men.
