Joel 1
Ang Salita ng Dios (Tagalog Contemporary Bible)
1 Ito ang mensahe ng Panginoon na ipinahayag niya kay Joel na anak ni Petuel.
Sinira ng mga Balang ang mga Tanim
2 Kayong mga tagapamahala ng Juda at ang lahat ng inyong mamamayan, pakinggan ninyo ang sasabihin ko sa inyo. Wala pang nangyari na katulad nito noong kapanahunan ng inyong mga ninuno o sa panahon ninyo ngayon. 3 Kailangang isalaysay ito sa bawat henerasyon ng inyong lahi.
4 Sunud-sunod na sumalakay ang mga pulutong ng balang. Ang mga naiwan na tanim na hindi naubos ng unang pulutong ay kinain ng sumunod na pulutong hanggang sa naubos ang mga tanim.[a]
5 Kayong mga lasenggo, bumangon kayo at umiyak nang malakas! Sapagkat wala na kayong maiinom; wala nang bunga ang mga ubas na gagawing alak. 6 Ang lupain ng Panginoon[b] ay sinalakay ng napakaraming balang.[c] Matalas ang kanilang mga ngipin na parang mga ngipin ng leon. 7 Sinira nila ang mga tanim na ubas ng Panginoon at ang kanyang mga puno ng igos. Nginatngat nila ang mga balat nito hanggang sa mamuti ang mga sanga.
8 Umiyak kayo katulad ng isang dalaga[d] na nakadamit ng sako[e] na namatayan ng binatang mapapangasawa. 9 Sapagkat wala nang butil o inumin na maihahandog sa templo ng Panginoon, kaya nalulungkot ang mga paring naglilingkod sa kanya. 10 Nasira ang mga bukirin na parang taong nagdadalamhati. Nasira na ang mga trigo, at wala na ang katas ng ubas at langis.
11 Kayong mga magsasaka, dapat kayong malungkot! Kayong mga tagapangalaga ng ubasan, umiyak kayo nang malakas! Sapagkat nasira ang aanihing mga trigo at sebada. 12 Nalanta ang mga tanim na ubas at ang lahat ng puno, pati na ang mga igos, pomegranata, palma, at mansanas. Talagang nawala ang kaligayahan ng mga tao.
Panawagan ng Pagsisisi
13 Kayong mga pari na naglilingkod sa altar ng aking Dios, magsuot kayo ng sako at pumunta sa templo at umiyak buong magdamag. Sapagkat wala nang butil o inumin na ihahandog sa templo ng inyong Dios. 14 Sabihin ninyo sa mga tagapamahala ng Juda at sa lahat ng kanyang mamamayan na pumunta silang lahat sa templo ng Panginoon na inyong Dios at mag-ayuno. Humingi sila ng tulong sa Panginoon.
15 Naku! Malapit na ang araw ng pagpaparusa ng Panginoong Makapangyarihan. 16 Nakita natin mismo kung paano tayo nawalan ng pagkain at kung paano nawala ang kagalakan sa templo ng Dios. 17 Namatay ang mga binhi sa tigang na lupa. At dahil natuyo ang mga butil, wala nang laman ang mga bodega, kaya nagiba na lamang ang mga ito. 18 Umaatungal ang mga hayop dahil sa gutom. Gumagala ang mga baka na naghahanap ng makakain, pati ang mga tupa ay nahihirapan na rin.
19 Nanalangin si Joel: Panginoon, nananawagan po ako sa inyo, dahil natuyo na ang mga pastulan at ang lahat ng punongkahoy sa bukirin, na parang nilamon ng apoy. 20 Maging ang mga hayop sa gubat ay dumadaing sa inyo, dahil tuyong-tuyo na ang mga ilog at mga sapa, at tuyo na rin ang mga pastulan, na parang nilamon ng apoy.

1 The word of the Lord that came to [a]Joel the son of Pethuel.
2 Hear this, you aged men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has such a thing as this occurred in your days or even in the days of your fathers?
3 Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
4 What the crawling locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; and what the swarming locust left, the hopping locust has eaten; and what the hopping locust left, the stripping locust has eaten.
5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the [fresh] sweet juice [of the grape], for it is cut off and removed from your mouth.
6 For a [heathen and hostile] nation [of locusts, illustrative of a human foe] has invaded My land, mighty and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the jaw teeth of a lioness.(A)
7 It has laid waste My vine [symbol of God’s people] and barked and broken My fig tree; it has made them completely bare and thrown them down; their branches are made white.(B)
8 Lament like a virgin [bride] girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth [who has died].
9 The meal or cereal offering and the drink offering are cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord’s ministers, mourn.
10 The field is laid waste, the ground mourns; for the grain is destroyed, the new juice [of the grape] is dried up, the oil fails.
11 Be ashamed, O you tillers of the soil; wail, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley, because the harvest of the field has perished.
12 The vine is dried up and the fig tree fails; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple or quince tree, even all the trees of the field are withered, so that joy has withered and fled away from the sons of men.
13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; wail, you ministers of the altar; come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my [Joel’s] God, for the cereal or meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land in the house of the Lord, your God, and cry to the Lord [in penitent pleadings].
15 Alas for the day! For the day of [the judgment of] the Lord is at hand, and as a destructive tempest from the Almighty will it come.(C)
16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 The seed [grain] rots and shrivels under the clods, the garners are desolate and empty, the barns are in ruins because the grain has failed.
18 How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed and huddle together because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment (are forsaken and made wretched).
19 O Lord, to You will I cry, for the fire has devoured the pastures and folds of the plain and the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field.
20 Even the wild beasts of the field pant and cry to You, for the water brooks are dried up and fire has consumed the pastures and folds of the wilderness and the plain.

1 耶和華的話臨到毘土珥的兒子約珥：
2 老年人哪！你們要聽這話。
這地所有的居民啊！你們要留心聽。
在你們的日子，
或在你們祖先的日子，
曾有這樣的事嗎？
3 你們要把這事傳與子，
子傳與孫，
孫傳與後代。
4 剪蟲剩下的，蝗蟲吃了；
蝗蟲剩下的，蝻子吃了；
蝻子剩下的，螞蚱吃了。
5 酒醉的人哪！你們要醒過來；要哀哭！
所有嗜酒的人哪！你們都要為甜酒哀號，
因為甜酒從你們的口裡斷絕了。
6 因為有一民族上來侵犯我的國土，
他們強大又無數；
他們的牙齒像獅子的牙齒，
他們有母獅的大牙。
7 他們使我的葡萄樹荒涼，
折斷了我的無花果樹，
把樹皮剝盡，丟在一旁，
使枝條露白。
勸人民哀哭
8 你們要哀號，像少女腰束麻布，
為她幼年時許配的丈夫哀號一樣。
9 素祭和奠祭都從耶和華的殿裡斷絕了，
事奉耶和華的祭司也都悲哀。
10 田野荒廢，
土地淒涼，
因為五穀毀壞，
新酒乾竭，
油也缺乏。
11 農夫啊！你們要為大麥和小麥羞愧。
修理葡萄園的啊！你們要哀號，
因為田間的莊稼都破壞了。
12 葡萄樹枯乾，
無花果樹衰殘；
石榴樹、棕樹、蘋果樹，
田野所有的樹木都枯乾，
因此歡樂從人間消失了。
呼籲人民禁食禱告
13 祭司啊！你們要腰束麻布，並且痛哭。
在祭壇侍候的啊！你們要哀號。
事奉我的 神的啊！你們披上麻布進去過夜吧，
因為素祭和奠祭，
都從你們的 神的殿中止息了。
14 你們要把禁食的日子分別為聖，
召開嚴肅會，
聚集眾長老
和國中所有的居民，
到你們的 神耶和華的殿裡，
向耶和華呼求。
15 哀哉那日！
因為耶和華的日子臨近了；
那日來到，好像毀滅從全能者臨到一樣。
16 糧食不是在我們的眼前斷絕了嗎？
歡喜與快樂不是從我們的 神的殿中止息了嗎？
17 穀種在土塊底下朽爛，
倉庫荒涼，穀倉破爛被拆毀，
因為五穀都枯乾了。
18 牲畜發出哀鳴，
牛群到處流蕩，
因為沒有草場給牠們，
羊群也同樣受苦。
19 耶和華啊！我向你呼求，
因為火吞滅了曠野的草場，
火燄燒盡了田間所有的樹木。
20 田野的走獸也向你發喘，
因為溪水都乾涸了，
火吞滅了曠野的草場。
