Job 4
La Palabra (España)
Dios retribuye
4 Elifaz de Temán respondió así:
2 ¿Aguantarás si te dirigen la palabra?
¿Pero quién puede frenar una respuesta?
3 Tú, que a tantos dabas lecciones,
que fortalecías los brazos débiles,
4 que animabas al vacilante con tus consejos,
que robustecías las rodillas temblorosas,
5 ¿ahora que te toca, flaqueas?
¿Te llega el turno y te asustas?
6 ¿No ponías tu confianza en tu piedad?
¿No ponías la esperanza en tu honradez?
7 ¿Recuerdas a un inocente destruido?
¿Has visto a algún justo exterminado?
8 Yo he visto que quien cultiva maldad
escuché su suave susurro;
desaparecen sin que a nadie le importe;
21 les arrancan los vientos de su tienda
y mueren por falta de sabiduría.

4 Then Eliphaz the Themanite answered, and said:
2 If we begin to speak to thee, perhaps thou wilt take it ill, but who can withhold the words he hath conceived?
3 Behold thou hast taught many, and thou hast strengthened the weary hands:
4 Thy words have confirmed them that were staggering, and thou hast strengthened the trembling knees:
5 But now the scourge is come upon thee, and thou faintest: it hath touched thee, and thou art troubled.
6 Where is thy fear, thy fortitude, thy patience, and the perfection of thy ways?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished being innocent? or when were the just destroyed?
8 On the contrary I have seen those who work iniquity, and sow sorrows, and reap them,
9 Perishing by the blast of God, and consumed by the spirit of his wrath.
10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the lioness, and the teeth of the whelps of lions are broken:
11 The tiger hath perished for want of prey, and the young lions are scattered abroad.
12 Now there was a word spoken to me in private, and my ears by stealth as it were received the veins of its whisper.
13 In the horror of a vision by night, when deep sleep is wont to hold men,
14 Fear seized upon me, and trembling, and all my bones were affrighted:
15 And when a spirit passed before me, the hair of my flesh stood up.
16 There stood one whose countenance I knew not, an image before my eyes, and I heard the voice as it were of a gentle wind:
17 Shall man be justified in comparison of God, or shall a man be more pure than his maker?
18 Behold they that serve him are not steadfast, and in his angels he found wickedness:
19 How much more shall they that dwell in houses of clay, who have an earthly foundation, be consumed as with the moth?
20 From morning till evening they shall be cut down: and because no one understandeth, they shall perish for ever.
21 And they that shall be left, shall be taken away from them: they shall die, and not in wisdom.
Job 4
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
4 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 If we venture to converse with you, will you be offended? Yet who can restrain himself from speaking?
3 Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.
4 Your words have held firm him who was falling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.
5 But now it is come upon you, and you faint and are grieved; it touches you, and you are troubled and dismayed.
6 Is not your [reverent] fear of God your confidence and the integrity and uprightness of your ways your hope?
7 Think [earnestly], I beg of you: who, being innocent, ever perished? Or where were those upright and in right standing with God cut off?
8 As I myself have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble and mischief reap the same.
9 By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of His anger they are consumed.
10 The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions are broken.
11 The old and strong lion perishes for lack of prey, and the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
12 Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and my ear received a whisper of it.
13 In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,
14 Fear came upon me and trembling, which made all my bones shake.
15 Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up!
16 [The spirit] stood still, but I could not discern the appearance of it. A form was before my eyes; there was silence, and then I heard a voice, saying,
17 Can mortal man be just before God, or be more right than He is? Can a man be pure before his Maker, or be more cleansed than He is?(A)
18 Even in His [heavenly] servants He puts no trust or confidence, and His angels He charges with folly and error—
19 How much more those who dwell in houses (bodies) of clay, whose foundations are in the dust, who are crushed like the moth.
20 Between morning and evening they are destroyed; without anyone noticing it they perish forever.
21 Is not their tent cord plucked up within them [so that the tent falls]? Do they not die, and that without [acquiring] wisdom?
