Isaiah 25:6-9

English Standard Version

⁶^(A)On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
    a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
    ^(B)of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
⁷And he will swallow up ^(C)on this mountain
    the covering that is cast over all peoples,
    ^(D)the veil that is spread over all nations.
⁸    ^(E)He will swallow up death forever;
and ^(F)the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
    and ^(G)the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
    ^(H)for the Lord has spoken.
⁹It will be said on that day,
    “Behold, this is our God; ^(I)we have waited for him, that he might save us.
    This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
    ^(J)let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

a banquet of aged wine—
    the best of meats and the finest of wines.^(C)
⁷On this mountain he will destroy
    the shroud^(D) that enfolds all peoples,^(E)
the sheet that covers all nations;
⁸    he will swallow up death^(F) forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears^(G)
    from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace^(H)
    from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.^(I)

⁹In that day^(J) they will say,

“Surely this is our God;^(K)
we trusted^(L) in him, and he saved^(M) us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;

23 The Lord is my ^(A)shepherd; I shall not ^(B)want.
²    He makes me lie down in green ^(C)pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.^[a]
³    He ^(D)restores my soul.
He ^(E)leads me in ^(F)paths of righteousness^[b]
    for his ^(G)name's sake.

⁴Even though I ^(H)walk through the valley of ^(I)the shadow of death,^[c]
    I will ^(J)fear no evil,
for ^(K)you are with me;
    your ^(L)rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

⁵You ^(M)prepare a table before me
    in ^(N)the presence of my enemies;
you ^(O)anoint my head with oil;
    my ^(P)cup overflows.
⁶Surely^[d] goodness and mercy^[e] shall follow me
    all the days of my life,

¹The Lord is my shepherd,^(A) I lack nothing.^(B)
²    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,^(C)
³    he refreshes my soul.^(D)
He guides me^(E) along the right paths^(F)
    for his name’s sake.^(G)
⁴Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,^[a]^(H)
I will fear no evil,^(I)
    for you are with me;^(J)
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

⁵You prepare a table^(K) before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;^(L)
    my cup^(M) overflows.
⁶Surely your goodness and love^(N) will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

God's Provision

¹⁰I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length ^(K)you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. ¹¹Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be ^(L)content. ¹²I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and ^(M)hunger, abundance and ^(N)need. ¹³I can do all things ^(O)through him who strengthens me.

The Lord is near.^(B) ⁶Do not be anxious about anything,^(C) but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.^(D) ⁷And the peace of God,^(E) which transcends all understanding,^(F) will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

⁸Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. ⁹Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.^(G) And the God of peace^(H) will be with you.

¹⁰I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me.^(I) Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. ¹¹I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content^(J) whatever the circumstances. ¹²I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry,^(K) whether living in plenty or in want.^(L) ¹³I can do all this through him who gives me strength.^(M)
