15 Though he among brethren produceth fruit, Come in doth an east wind, a wind of Jehovah, From a wilderness it is coming up, And it drieth up his fountain, And become dry doth his spring, It -- it spoileth a treasure -- every desirable vessel.

16 Become desolate doth Samaria, Because she hath rebelled against her God, By sword they do fall, Their sucklings are dashed in pieces, And its pregnant ones are ripped up!

14 Turn back, O Israel, unto Jehovah thy God, For thou hast stumbled by thine iniquity.

Take with you words, and turn to Jehovah, Say ye unto Him: `Take away all iniquity, and give good, And we do render the fruit of our lips.

Asshur doth not save us, on a horse we ride not, Nor do we say any more, Our God, to the work of our hands, For in Thee find mercy doth the fatherless.'

I heal their backsliding, I love them freely, For turned back hath Mine anger from him.

I am as dew to Israel, he flourisheth as a lily, And he striketh forth his roots as Lebanon.

Go on do his sucklings, And his beauty is as an olive, And he hath fragrance as Lebanon.

Return do the dwellers under his shadow, They revive [as] corn, and flourish as a vine, His memorial [is] as wine of Lebanon.

O Ephraim, what to Me any more with idols? I -- I afflicted, and I cause him to sing: `I [am] as a green fir-tree,' From Me is thy fruit found.

Who [is] wise, and doth understand these? Prudent, and knoweth them? For upright are the ways of Jehovah, And the righteous go on in them, And the transgressors stumble therein!

15 Though he (A)flourishes among the [a]reeds,
An (B)east wind will come,
The wind of the Lord coming up from the wilderness;
And his fountain will (C)become dry
And his spring will dry up;
It will (D)plunder his treasury of every precious article.
16 [b]Samaria will pay the penalty for her (E)guilt,
Because she has (F)rebelled against her God.
(G)They will fall by the (H)sword,
Their children will be [c](I)slaughtered,
And their pregnant (J)women will be ripped open.

Israel’s Future Blessing

14 [d](K)Return, Israel, to the Lord your God,
For you have stumbled [e]because of your (L)wrongdoing.
Take words with you and return to the Lord.
Say to Him, “(M)Take away all guilt
And [f]receive us graciously,
So that we may (N)present [g]the fruit of our lips.
Assyria will not save us,
We will (O)not ride on horses;
Nor will we say again, ‘(P)Our god’
To the (Q)work of our hands;
For in (R)You the [h]orphan finds mercy.”

I will (S)heal their apostasy,
I will (T)love them freely,
Because My anger has (U)turned away from them.
I will be like the (V)dew to Israel;
He will blossom like the (W)lily,
And he will [i]take root like the cedars of (X)Lebanon.
His shoots will [j]sprout,
His [k]majesty will be like the (Y)olive tree,
And his fragrance like the cedars of (Z)Lebanon.
Those who (AA)live in his shadow
Will [l]again raise (AB)grain,
And they will blossom like the vine.
His fame will be like the wine of Lebanon.

Ephraim, what more have I to do with (AC)idols?
It is I who answer and look after [m]you.
I am like a luxuriant (AD)juniper;
From (AE)Me [n]comes your fruit.

(AF)Whoever is wise, let him understand these things;
Whoever is discerning, let him know them.
For the (AG)ways of the Lord are right,
And the (AH)righteous will walk in them,
But (AI)wrongdoers will stumble in them.
