Hebrews 4
Easy-to-Read Version
4 And we still have the promise that God gave those people. That promise is that we can enter his place of rest. So we should be very careful that none of you fails to get that promise. 2 Yes, the good news about it was told to us just as it was to them. But the message they heard did not help them. They heard it but did not accept it with faith. 3 Only we who believe it are able to enter God’s place of rest. As God said,
“I was angry and made a promise:
‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” (A)
But God’s work was finished from the time he made the world. 4 Yes, somewhere in the Scriptures he talked about the seventh day of the week. He said, “So on the seventh day God rested from all his work.”[a] 5 But in the Scripture above God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.”
6 So the opportunity is still there for some to enter and enjoy God’s rest. But those who first heard the good news about it did not enter, because they did not obey. 7 So God planned another special day. It is called “today.” He spoke about that day through David a long time later using the words we quoted before:
“If you hear God’s voice today,
don’t be stubborn.” (B)
8 We know that Joshua did not lead the people into the place of rest that God promised. We know this because God spoke later about another day for rest. 9 This shows that the seventh-day rest[b] for God’s people is still to come. 10 God rested after he finished his work. So everyone who enters God’s place of rest will also have rest from their own work just as God did. 11 So let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s place of rest. We must try hard so that none of us will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey God.
12 God’s word[c] is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts. 13 Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. He can clearly see all things. Everything is open before him. And to him we must explain the way we have lived.
Jesus Christ Is Our High Priest
14 We have a great high priest who has gone to live with God in heaven. He is Jesus the Son of God. So let us continue to express our faith in him. 15 Jesus, our high priest, is able to understand our weaknesses. When Jesus lived on earth, he was tempted in every way. He was tempted in the same ways we are tempted, but he never sinned. 16 With Jesus as our high priest, we can feel free to come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we receive mercy and kindness to help us when we need it.

4 Dobbiamo dunque temere che, mentre ancora rimane in vigore la promessa di entrare nel suo riposo, qualcuno di voi ne sia giudicato escluso. 2 Poiché anche a noi, al pari di quelli, è stata annunziata una buona novella: purtroppo però ad essi la parola udita non giovò in nulla, non essendo rimasti uniti nella fede a quelli che avevano ascoltato. 3 Infatti noi che abbiamo creduto possiamo entrare in quel riposo, secondo ciò che egli ha detto:
Sicché ho giurato nella mia ira:
Non entreranno nel mio riposo!
Questo, benché le sue opere fossero compiute fin dalla fondazione del mondo. 4 Si dice infatti in qualche luogo a proposito del settimo giorno: E Dio si riposò nel settimo giorno da tutte le opere sue. 5 E ancora in questo passo: Non entreranno nel mio riposo! 6 Poiché dunque risulta che alcuni debbono ancora entrare in quel riposo e quelli che per primi ricevettero la buona novella non entrarono a causa della loro disobbedienza, 7 egli fissa di nuovo un giorno, oggi, dicendo in Davide dopo tanto tempo:
Oggi, se udite la sua voce,
non indurite i vostri cuori!
8 Se Giosuè infatti li avesse introdotti in quel riposo, Dio non avrebbe parlato, in seguito, di un altro giorno. 9 E' dunque riservato ancora un riposo sabatico per il popolo di Dio. 10 Chi è entrato infatti nel suo riposo, riposa anch'egli dalle sue opere, come Dio dalle proprie.
11 Affrettiamoci dunque ad entrare in quel riposo, perché nessuno cada nello stesso tipo di disobbedienza.
12 Infatti la parola di Dio è viva, efficace e più tagliente di ogni spada a doppio taglio; essa penetra fino al punto di divisione dell'anima e dello spirito, delle giunture e delle midolla e scruta i sentimenti e i pensieri del cuore. 13 Non v'è creatura che possa nascondersi davanti a lui, ma tutto è nudo e scoperto agli occhi suoi e a lui noi dobbiamo rendere conto.
Gesù, un sommo sacerdote in grado di compatire
14 Poiché dunque abbiamo un grande sommo sacerdote, che ha attraversato i cieli, Gesù, Figlio di Dio, manteniamo ferma la professione della nostra fede. 15 Infatti non abbiamo un sommo sacerdote che non sappia compatire le nostre infermità, essendo stato lui stesso provato in ogni cosa, a somiglianza di noi, escluso il peccato. 16 Accostiamoci dunque con piena fiducia al trono della grazia, per ricevere misericordia e trovare grazia ed essere aiutati al momento opportuno.

4 Посему будем опасаться, чтобы, когда еще остается обетование войти в покой Его, не оказался кто из вас опоздавшим.
2 Ибо и нам оно возвещено, как и тем; но не принесло им пользы слово слышанное, не растворенное верою слышавших.
3 А входим в покой мы уверовавшие, так как Он сказал: 'Я поклялся в гневе Моем, что они не войдут в покой Мой', хотя дела [Его] были совершены еще в начале мира.
4 Ибо негде сказано о седьмом [дне] так: и почил Бог в день седьмый от всех дел Своих.
5 И еще здесь: 'не войдут в покой Мой'.
6 Итак, как некоторым остается войти в него, а те, которым прежде возвещено, не вошли в него за непокорность,
7 [то] еще определяет некоторый день, 'ныне', говоря через Давида, после столь долгого времени, как выше сказано: 'ныне, когда услышите глас Его, не ожесточите сердец ваших'.
8 Ибо если бы Иисус [Навин] доставил им покой, то не было бы сказано после того о другом дне.
9 Посему для народа Божия еще остается субботство.
10 Ибо, кто вошел в покой Его, тот и сам успокоился от дел своих, как и Бог от Своих.
11 Итак постараемся войти в покой оный, чтобы кто по тому же примеру не впал в непокорность.
12 Ибо слово Божие живо и действенно и острее всякого меча обоюдоострого: оно проникает до разделения души и духа, составов и мозгов, и судит помышления и намерения сердечные.
13 И нет твари, сокровенной от Него, но все обнажено и открыто перед очами Его: Ему дадим отчет.
14 Итак, имея Первосвященника великого, прошедшего небеса, Иисуса Сына Божия, будем твердо держаться исповедания [нашего].
15 Ибо мы имеем не такого первосвященника, который не может сострадать нам в немощах наших, но Который, подобно [нам], искушен во всем, кроме греха.
16 Посему да приступаем с дерзновением к престолу благодати, чтобы получить милость и обрести благодать для благовременной помощи.
