Ang Kasaysayan ng Paglikha

1 Nang pasimula ay nilikha ng Diyos ang langit at ang lupa;[a] 2 ang lupa ay walang hugis o anyo. Dilim ang bumabalot sa kalaliman at kumikilos ang Espiritu ng Diyos[b] sa ibabaw ng tubig. 3 Sinabi(A) ng Diyos: “Magkaroon ng liwanag!” At nagkaroon nga. 4 Nasiyahan ang Diyos nang ito'y mamasdan. Pinagbukod niya ang liwanag at ang dilim. 5 Ang liwanag ay tinawag niyang Araw, at ang dilim naman ay tinawag na Gabi. Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang unang araw.

6 Sinabi(B) ng Diyos: “Magkaroon ng kalawakang maghahati sa tubig upang ito'y magkahiwalay!” 7 At nangyari ito. Ginawa ng Diyos na pumagitan ang kalawakan sa tubig na nasa itaas at sa tubig na nasa ibaba. 8 Langit ang itinawag niya sa kalawakan. Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang ikalawang araw.

9 Sinabi ng Diyos: “Magsama-sama sa isang dako ang tubig sa silong ng langit upang lumitaw ang lupa.” At nangyari nga ito. 10 Tinawag niyang Lupa ang tuyong bahagi at Dagat naman ang nagsama-samang tubig. Nasiyahan siya nang ito'y mamasdan. 11 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Diyos: “Magkaroon sa lupa ng lahat ng uri ng tumutubong halamang nagkakabinhi at mga punong namumunga.” At nangyari ito. 12 Tumubo nga sa lupa ang gayong mga halaman. Nasiyahan siya nang ito'y mamasdan. 13 Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang ikatlong araw.

14 Sinabi ng Diyos: “Magkaroon ng mga tanglaw sa langit upang mabukod ang araw sa gabi. Ito ang magiging batayan sa bilang ng mga araw, taon at kapistahan. 15 Mula sa langit, ang mga ito'y magbibigay ng liwanag sa daigdig.” At gayon nga ang nangyari. 16 Nilikha ng Diyos ang dalawang malalaking tanglaw: ang Araw, upang magbigay liwanag sa maghapon, at ang Buwan, upang tumanglaw kung gabi. Nilikha rin niya ang mga bituin. 17 Inilagay niya sa langit ang mga tanglaw na ito upang magbigay ng liwanag sa daigdig, 18 tumanglaw kung araw at gabi, at magbukod sa liwanag at dilim. Nasiyahan ang Diyos nang ito'y kanyang mamasdan. 19 Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang ikaapat na araw.

20 Sinabi ng Diyos: “Magkaroon sa tubig ng maraming bagay na may buhay, at magkaroon din ng mga ibon sa himpapawid.” 21 Nilikha ng Diyos ang mga dambuhala sa dagat, at lahat ng bagay na nabubuhay sa tubig, gayundin ang lahat ng uri ng ibon. Nasiyahan ang Diyos nang ito'y mamasdan. 22 Pinagpala niya ang mga ito at sinabi: “Magpakarami ang lahat ng bagay na nabubuhay sa tubig at punuin ang karagatan; magpakarami rin ang mga ibon at punuin ang daigdig.” 23 Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang ikalimang araw.

24 Sinabi ng Diyos: “Magkaroon ng lahat ng uri ng hayop sa lupa—maaamo, maiilap, malalaki at maliliit.” At gayon nga ang nangyari. 25 Ginawa nga niya ang lahat ng ito, at nasiyahan siya nang ito'y kanyang mamasdan.

26 Pagkatapos,(C) sinabi ng Diyos: “Ngayon, likhain natin ang tao ayon sa ating larawan, ayon sa ating wangis. Sila ang mamamahala sa mga isda, sa mga ibon sa himpapawid at sa lahat ng hayop, maging maamo o mailap, malaki o maliit.” 27 Nilalang(D) (E) nga ng Diyos ang tao ayon sa kanyang larawan. Sila'y kanyang nilalang na isang lalaki at isang babae, 28 at sila'y pinagpala niya. Sinabi niya, “Magpakarami kayo at punuin ninyo ng inyong mga anak ang buong daigdig, at kayo ang mamahala nito. Binibigyan ko kayo ng kapangyarihan sa mga isda sa tubig, sa mga ibon sa himpapawid, at sa lahat ng mga hayop na nasa ibabaw ng lupa. 29 Ibinibigay ko rin sa inyo ang lahat ng uri ng halamang nagkakabinhi at mga bungangkahoy bilang pagkain ninyo. 30 Ang lahat ng halamang luntian ay ibinibigay ko naman sa lahat ng hayop sa ibabaw ng lupa at sa lahat ng mga ibon.” At ito nga ang nangyari. 31 Pinagmasdan ng Diyos ang lahat niyang ginawa, at lubos siyang nasiyahan. Lumipas ang gabi, at sumapit ang umaga—iyon ang ikaanim na araw.

The Beginning

1 In the beginning(A) God created(B) the heavens(C) and the earth.(D) 2 Now the earth was formless(E) and empty,(F) darkness was over the surface of the deep,(G) and the Spirit of God(H) was hovering(I) over the waters.

3 And God said,(J) “Let there be light,” and there was light.(K) 4 God saw that the light was good,(L) and he separated the light from the darkness.(M) 5 God called(N) the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”(O) And there was evening, and there was morning(P)—the first day.

6 And God said,(Q) “Let there be a vault(R) between the waters(S) to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it.(T) And it was so.(U) 8 God called(V) the vault “sky.”(W) And there was evening, and there was morning(X)—the second day.

9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place,(Y) and let dry ground(Z) appear.” And it was so.(AA) 10 God called(AB) the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters(AC) he called “seas.”(AD) And God saw that it was good.(AE)

11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation:(AF) seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.(AG)” And it was so.(AH) 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds(AI) and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.(AJ) 13 And there was evening, and there was morning(AK)—the third day.

14 And God said, “Let there be lights(AL) in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night,(AM) and let them serve as signs(AN) to mark sacred times,(AO) and days and years,(AP) 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.(AQ) 16 God made two great lights—the greater light(AR) to govern(AS) the day and the lesser light to govern(AT) the night.(AU) He also made the stars.(AV) 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night,(AW) and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.(AX) 19 And there was evening, and there was morning(AY)—the fourth day.

20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures,(AZ) and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”(BA) 21 So God created(BB) the great creatures of the sea(BC) and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it,(BD) according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.(BE) And God saw that it was good.(BF) 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”(BG) 23 And there was evening, and there was morning(BH)—the fifth day.

24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures(BI) according to their kinds:(BJ) the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.(BK) 25 God made the wild animals(BL) according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds.(BM) And God saw that it was good.(BN)

26 Then God said, “Let us(BO) make mankind(BP) in our image,(BQ) in our likeness,(BR) so that they may rule(BS) over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,(BT) over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created(BU) mankind(BV) in his own image,(BW)
    in the image of God(BX) he created them;
    male and female(BY) he created them.(BZ)

28 God blessed them and said to them,(CA) “Be fruitful and increase in number;(CB) fill the earth(CC) and subdue it. Rule over(CD) the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.(CE)”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.(CF) 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life(CG) in it—I give every green plant for food.(CH)” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made,(CI) and it was very good.(CJ) And there was evening, and there was morning(CK)—the sixth day.

1 Nang pasimula, nilikha ng Dios ang langit at ang lupa. 2 Ang mundo noon ay wala pang anyo at wala pang laman. Ang tubig na bumabalot sa mundo ay balot ng kadiliman. At ang Espiritu ng Dios[a] ay kumikilos sa ibabaw ng mga tubig. 3 Sinabi ng Dios, “Magkaroon ng liwanag!” At nagkaroon nga ng liwanag. 4 Nasiyahan ang Dios sa liwanag na nakita niya. Pagkatapos, inihiwalay niya ang liwanag sa kadiliman. 5 Tinawag niyang “araw” ang liwanag, at “gabi” naman ang kadiliman. Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang unang araw.

6 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magkaroon ng pagitan na maghihiwalay sa tubig sa dalawang bahagi.” 7 At nagkaroon nga ng pagitan na naghihiwalay sa tubig sa itaas at sa tubig sa ibaba. 8 Ang pagitang itoʼy tinawag ng Dios na “kalawakan.” Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang ikalawang araw.

9 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magsama sa isang lugar ang tubig sa mundo para lumitaw ang tuyong bahagi.” At iyon nga ang nangyari. 10 Tinawag niyang “lupa” ang tuyong lugar, at “dagat” naman ang nagsamang tubig. Nasiyahan ang Dios sa nakita niya.

11 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magsitubo sa lupa ang lahat ng uri ng halaman, ang mga tanim na nagbubunga ng butil, at ang mga punongkahoy na namumunga ayon sa kani-kanilang uri.” At iyon nga ang nangyari. 12 Tumubo sa lupa ang lahat ng uri ng halaman, ang mga tanim na nagbubunga ng butil, at ang mga punongkahoy na namumunga ayon sa kani-kanilang uri. Nasiyahan ang Dios sa nakita niya. 13 Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang ikatlong araw.

14 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magkaroon ng mga ilaw sa kalangitan para ihiwalay ang araw sa gabi, at magsilbing palatandaan ng pagsisimula ng mga panahon,[b] araw at taon. 15 Magningning ang mga ito sa kalangitan para magbigay-liwanag sa mundo.” At iyon nga ang nangyari. 16 Nilikha ng Dios ang dalawang malaking ilaw: ang pinakamalaki ay magliliwanag kung araw, at ang mas malaki ay magliliwanag kung gabi. Nilikha rin niya ang mga bituin. 17-18 Inilagay ng Dios ang mga ito sa kalangitan para magbigay-liwanag sa mundo kung araw at gabi, at para ihiwalay ang liwanag sa dilim. At nasiyahan ang Dios sa nakita niya. 19 Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang ikaapat na araw.

20 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magkaroon ng ibaʼt ibang hayop sa tubig at magsilipad ang ibaʼt ibang hayop[c] sa himpapawid.” 21 Kaya nilikha ng Dios ang malalaking hayop sa dagat, at ang lahat ng uri ng hayop na nakatira sa tubig, at ang lahat ng uri ng hayop na lumilipad. Nasiyahan ang Dios sa nakita niya. 22 At binasbasan niya ang mga ito. Sinabi niya, “Magpakarami kayo, kayong mga hayop sa tubig at mga hayop na lumilipad.” 23 Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang ikalimang araw.

24 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Magkaroon ng ibaʼt ibang uri ng hayop sa lupa: mga hayop na maamo at mailap, malalaki at maliliit.” At iyon nga ang nangyari. 25 Nilikha ng Dios ang lahat ng ito at nasiyahan siya sa nakita niya.

26 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Likhain natin ang tao ayon sa ating wangis. Sila ang mamamahala sa lahat ng uri ng hayop: mga lumalangoy, lumilipad, lumalakad at gumagapang.” 27 Kaya nilikha ng Dios ang tao, lalaki at babae ayon sa wangis niya. 28 Binasbasan niya sila at sinabi, “Magpakarami kayo para mangalat ang mga lahi ninyo at mamahala sa buong mundo. At pamahalaan ninyo ang lahat ng hayop.”

29 Pagkatapos, sinabi ng Dios, “Ibinibigay ko sa inyo ang mga tanim na namumunga ng butil pati ang mga punongkahoy na namumunga para inyong kainin. 30 At ibinibigay ko sa lahat ng hayop ang lahat ng luntiang halaman bilang pagkain nila.” At iyon nga ang nangyari. 31 Pinagmasdan ng Dios ang lahat niyang nilikha at lubos siyang nasiyahan. Lumipas ang gabi at dumating ang umaga. Iyon ang ikaanim na araw.

The Creation

1 In the beginning Elohim created heaven and earth.

2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Ruach Elohim was hovering over the water.

3 Then Elohim said, “Let there be light!” So there was light. 4 Elohim saw the light was good. So Elohim separated the light from the darkness. 5 Elohim named the light day, and the darkness he named night. There was evening, then morning—the first day.

6 Then Elohim said, “Let there be a horizon in the middle of the water in order to separate the water.” 7 So Elohim made the horizon and separated the water above and below the horizon. And so it was. 8 Elohim named what was above the horizon sky. There was evening, then morning—a second day.

9 Then Elohim said, “Let the water under the sky come together in one area, and let the dry land appear.” And so it was. 10 Elohim named the dry land earth. The water which came together he named sea. Elohim saw that it was good. 11 Then Elohim said, “Let the earth produce vegetation: plants bearing seeds, each according to its own type, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seeds, each according to its own type.” And so it was. 12 The earth produced vegetation: plants bearing seeds, each according to its own type, and trees bearing fruit with seeds, each according to its own type. Elohim saw that they were good. 13 There was evening, then morning—a third day.

14 Then Elohim said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate the day from the night. They will be signs and will mark religious festivals, days, and years. 15 They will be lights in the sky to shine on the earth.” And so it was. 16 Elohim made the two bright lights: the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night. He also made the stars. 17 Elohim put them in the sky to give light to the earth, 18 to dominate the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. Elohim saw that it was good. 19 There was evening, then morning—a fourth day.

20 Then Elohim said, “Let the water swarm with swimming creatures, and let birds fly through the sky over the earth.” 21 So Elohim created the large sea creatures, every type of creature that swims around in the water and every type of flying bird. Elohim saw that they were good. 22 Elohim blessed them and said, “Be fertile, increase in number, fill the sea, and let there be many birds on the earth.” 23 There was evening, then morning—a fifth day.

24 Then Elohim said, “Let the earth produce every type of living creature: every type of domestic animal, crawling animal, and wild animal.” And so it was. 25 Elohim made every type of wild animal, every type of domestic animal, and every type of creature that crawls on the ground. Elohim saw that they were good.

26 Then Elohim said, “Let us make humans in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the domestic animals all over the earth, and all the animals that crawl on the earth.”

27 So Elohim created humans in his image.
    In the image of Elohim he created them.
        He created them male and female.

28 Elohim blessed them and said, “Be fertile, increase in number, fill the earth, and be its master. Rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that crawl on the earth.”

29 Elohim said, “I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food. 30 I have given all green plants as food to every land animal, every bird in the sky, and every animal that crawls on the earth—every living, breathing animal.” And so it was.

31 And Elohim saw everything that he had made and that it was very good. There was evening, then morning—the sixth day.
