Sur l’investiture d’Aaron et de ses fils
29 Voici comment tu procéderas à l’égard d’Aaron et de ses fils pour les consacrer à mon service comme prêtres.
Tu prendras un jeune taureau et deux béliers sans défaut, 2 du pain sans levain, des gâteaux sans levain pétris à l’huile et des galettes sans levain arrosées d’huile, faites de fleur de farine de froment. 3 Tu les mettras tous dans la même corbeille pour les apporter avec le taureau et les deux béliers.
4 Tu feras approcher Aaron et ses fils de l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre et tu les laveras à l’eau. 5 Puis tu prendras les vêtements sacrés et tu feras endosser à Aaron la tunique, la robe de l’éphod, l’éphod et le pectoral, et tu le ceindras avec la ceinture de l’éphod. 6 Tu le coifferas du turban sur lequel tu fixeras le diadème de consécration. 7 Ensuite, tu prendras l’huile d’onction et tu la répandras sur sa tête pour l’oindre. 8 Tu feras approcher ses fils et tu les revêtiras de leurs tuniques. 9 Tu ceindras Aaron et ses fils d’une ceinture et tu les coifferas de turbans. Ainsi tu conféreras l’investiture à Aaron et à ses fils, et le sacerdoce leur appartiendra en vertu d’une ordonnance en vigueur à perpétuité.
10 Tu amèneras le taureau devant la tente de la Rencontre ; Aaron et ses fils poseront leurs mains sur la tête du taureau 11 que tu égorgeras ensuite en ma présence à l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre. 12 Tu prendras de son sang et tu en appliqueras avec ton doigt sur les cornes de l’autel. Tu répandras tout le reste du sang sur le socle de l’autel. 13 Puis tu prendras toute la graisse qui recouvre les entrailles, ainsi que le dessus du foie et les deux rognons avec la graisse qui les entoure et tu feras brûler le tout sur l’autel. 14 Mais tu brûleras la chair du taureau, sa peau et ses excréments à l’extérieur du camp. C’est un sacrifice pour le péché.
15 Ensuite tu prendras le premier bélier, Aaron et ses fils poseront leurs mains sur sa tête. 16 Tu l’égorgeras et tu aspergeras de son sang sur tous les côtés de l’autel. 17 Puis tu le découperas en morceaux, tu laveras ses entrailles et ses pattes et tu les disposeras sur les quartiers de viande et sur sa tête. 18 Tu brûleras tout le bélier sur l’autel : c’est un holocauste[a] offert à l’Eternel, un sacrifice à l’odeur apaisante, consumé par le feu pour l’Eternel.
19 Enfin, tu prendras le second bélier, Aaron et ses fils poseront leurs mains sur sa tête. 20 Tu l’égorgeras et tu prendras de son sang pour l’appliquer sur le lobe de l’oreille droite d’Aaron et de ses fils, sur le pouce de leur main droite et sur le gros orteil de leur pied droit, puis tu aspergeras de sang les quatre faces de l’autel. 21 Tu prendras du sang qui sera sur l’autel, et de l’huile d’onction, et tu en aspergeras Aaron et ses vêtements, ses fils et leurs vêtements. Ainsi, lui et ses fils ainsi que leurs vêtements seront consacrés.
22 Tu prendras la graisse du bélier, sa queue, la graisse qui recouvre les entrailles, le dessus du foie, les deux rognons et la graisse qui les entoure, ainsi que le gigot droit – car il s’agit d’un bélier d’investiture. 23 Tu prendras aussi une miche de pain, un gâteau à l’huile et une galette prélevée dans la corbeille des pains sans levain déposée devant l’Eternel. 24 Tu placeras le tout dans les mains d’Aaron et de ses fils et tu les leur feras offrir à l’Eternel avec un geste de présentation. 25 Ensuite, tu les reprendras de leurs mains et les feras brûler sur l’autel au-dessus de l’holocauste, en sacrifice à l’odeur apaisante, consumé par le feu, pour l’Eternel.
26 Tu prendras la poitrine du bélier pour la consécration d’Aaron et tu l’offriras à l’Eternel avec le geste de présentation. Ce morceau te reviendra comme ta part. 27 Tu consacreras la poitrine qui aura été présentée à l’Eternel et le gigot provenant du bélier d’investiture pour Aaron et pour ses fils. 28 Cette contribution des Israélites appartiendra à Aaron et à ses fils selon une ordonnance en vigueur à perpétuité, car c’est un prélèvement sur les offrandes des Israélites, sur leurs sacrifices de communion pour l’Eternel. 29 Les vêtements sacrés d’Aaron reviendront après lui à ses descendants, qui les porteront lorsqu’on leur conférera l’onction pour les investir de leur charge. 30 Celui de ses fils qui lui succédera comme prêtre et qui pénétrera dans la tente de la Rencontre pour officier dans le lieu saint, les portera pendant sept jours.
31 Puis tu prendras le bélier de l’investiture et tu en feras cuire la viande dans un lieu saint. 32 Aaron et ses fils mangeront la viande du bélier et le pain qui est dans la corbeille à l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre. 33 Ils mangeront ces offrandes par lesquelles est accompli le rite d’expiation pour leur donner l’investiture et les rendre saints. Aucun autre membre du peuple n’en mangera, car ce sont des choses saintes. 34 S’il reste jusqu’au lendemain de la viande de la victime d’investiture et du pain, tu brûleras ce reste ; on ne le mangera pas, car ce sont des choses saintes.
35 Tu accompliras donc pendant sept jours pour Aaron et ses fils les rites d’investiture, exactement comme je te l’ai ordonné. 36 Chaque jour, tu offriras un taureau en sacrifice d’expiation pour le péché, et tu purifieras l’autel au moyen de cette expiation que tu accompliras pour lui. Ensuite, tu y répandras de l’huile d’onction pour le consacrer. 37 Tu renouvelleras ces rites d’expiation pour l’autel pendant sept jours afin de le consacrer. Après cela, il sera éminemment saint et tout ce qui le touchera sera saint.
Les deux holocaustes quotidiens
38 Voici ce que tu feras : chaque jour, à perpétuité, tu offriras sur l’autel deux agneaux âgés d’un an. 39 L’un d’eux sera offert le matin, l’autre à la nuit tombante. 40 Avec le premier agneau, tu joindras trois kilogrammes de fleur de farine pétrie avec un litre et demi d’huile fine ; puis tu verseras un litre et demi de vin comme libation[b]. 41 Tu accompagneras le sacrifice du soir des mêmes offrandes de farine, d’huile et de vin que celui du matin. C’est un sacrifice à l’odeur apaisante consumé par le feu pour l’Eternel. 42 C’est un holocauste que vous offrirez à perpétuité de génération en génération, à l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre devant l’Eternel, à l’endroit où je vous convoquerai pour m’y entretenir avec toi.
L’Eternel : le Dieu des Israélites
43 C’est là que je rencontrerai les Israélites, et ma gloire rendra ce lieu saint. 44 Je consacrerai la tente de la Rencontre et l’autel, je consacrerai aussi Aaron et ses fils pour qu’ils soient mes prêtres. 45 J’habiterai au milieu des Israélites et je serai leur Dieu, 46 et ils sauront que c’est moi, l’Eternel, leur Dieu, qui les ai fait sortir d’Egypte pour habiter au milieu d’eux ; oui, je suis l’Eternel, leur Dieu.

6 Tu poseras la tiare sur sa tête, et tu placeras le diadème de sainteté sur la tiare.

11 Tu égorgeras le taureau devant l'Éternel, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation.
12 Tu prendras du sang du taureau, tu en mettras avec ton doigt sur les cornes de l'autel, et tu répandras tout le sang au pied de l'autel.
13 Tu prendras toute la graisse qui couvre les entrailles, le grand lobe du foie, les deux rognons et la graisse qui les entoure, et tu brûleras cela sur l'autel.
14 Mais tu brûleras au feu hors du camp la chair du taureau, sa peau et ses excréments: c'est un sacrifice pour le péché.
15 Tu prendras l'un des béliers, et Aaron et ses fils poseront leurs mains sur la tête du bélier.
16 Tu égorgeras le bélier; tu en prendras le sang, et tu le répandras sur l'autel tout autour.
17 Tu couperas le bélier par morceaux, et tu laveras les entrailles et les jambes, que tu mettras sur les morceaux et sur sa tête.
18 Tu brûleras tout le bélier sur l'autel; c'est un holocauste à l'Éternel, c'est un sacrifice consumé par le feu, d'une agréable odeur à l'Éternel.
19 Tu prendras l'autre bélier, et Aaron et ses fils poseront leurs mains sur la tête du bélier.
20 Tu égorgeras le bélier; tu prendras de son sang, tu en mettras sur le lobe de l'oreille droite d'Aaron et sur le lobe de l'oreille droite de ses fils, sur le pouce de leur main droite et sur le gros orteil de leur pied droit, et tu répandras le sang sur l'autel tout autour.
21 Tu prendras du sang qui sera sur l'autel et de l'huile d'onction, et tu en feras l'aspersion sur Aaron et sur ses vêtements, sur ses fils et sur leurs vêtements. Ainsi seront consacrés Aaron et ses vêtements, ses fils et leurs vêtements.
22 Tu prendras la graisse du bélier, la queue, la graisse qui couvre les entrailles, le grand lobe du foie, les deux rognons et la graisse qui les entoure, et l'épaule droite, car c'est un bélier de consécration;
23 tu prendras aussi dans la corbeille de pains sans levain, placée devant l'Éternel, un gâteau de pain, un gâteau à l'huile et une galette.
24 Tu mettras toutes ces choses sur les mains d'Aaron et sur les mains de ses fils, et tu les agiteras de côté et d'autre devant l'Éternel.
25 Tu les ôteras ensuite de leurs mains, et tu les brûleras sur l'autel, par-dessus l'holocauste; c'est un sacrifice consumé par le feu devant l'Éternel, d'une agréable odeur à l'Éternel.
26 Tu prendras la poitrine du bélier qui aura servi à la consécration d'Aaron, et tu l'agiteras de côté et d'autre devant l'Éternel: ce sera ta portion.
27 Tu sanctifieras la poitrine et l'épaule du bélier qui aura servi à la consécration d'Aaron et de ses fils, la poitrine en l'agitant de côté et d'autre, l'épaule en la présentant par élévation.
28 Elles appartiendront à Aaron et à ses fils, par une loi perpétuelle qu'observeront les enfants d'Israël, car c'est une offrande par élévation; et, dans les sacrifices d'actions de grâces des enfants d'Israël, l'offrande par élévation sera pour l'Éternel.
29 Les vêtements sacrés d'Aaron seront après lui pour ses fils, qui les mettront lorsqu'on les oindra et qu'on les consacrera.
30 Ils seront portés pendant sept jours par celui de ses fils qui lui succédera dans le sacerdoce, et qui entrera dans la tente d'assignation, pour faire le service dans le sanctuaire.
31 Tu prendras le bélier de consécration, et tu en feras cuire la chair dans un lieu saint.
32 Aaron et ses fils mangeront, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation, la chair du bélier et le pain qui sera dans la corbeille.
33 Ils mangeront ainsi ce qui aura servi d'expiation afin qu'ils fussent consacrés et sanctifiés; nul étranger n'en mangera, car ce sont des choses saintes.
34 S'il reste de la chair de consécration et du pain jusqu'au matin, tu brûleras dans le feu ce qui restera; on ne le mangera point, car c'est une chose sainte.
35 Tu suivras à l'égard d'Aaron et de ses fils tous les ordres que je t'ai donnés. Tu emploieras sept jours à les consacrer.
36 Tu offriras chaque jour un taureau en sacrifice pour le péché, pour l'expiation; tu purifieras l'autel par cette expiation, et tu l'oindras pour le sanctifier.
37 Pendant sept jours, tu feras des expiations sur l'autel, et tu le sanctifieras; et l'autel sera très saint, et tout ce qui touchera l'autel sera sanctifié.
38 Voici ce que tu offriras sur l'autel: deux agneaux d'un an, chaque jour, à perpétuité.
39 Tu offriras l'un des agneaux le matin, et l'autre agneau entre les deux soirs.
40 Tu offriras, avec le premier agneau, un dixième d'épha de fleur de farine pétrie dans un quart de hin d'huile d'olives concassées, et une libation d'un quart de hin de vin.
41 Tu offriras le second agneau entre les deux soirs, avec une offrande et une libation semblables à celles du matin; c'est un sacrifice consumé par le feu, d'une agréable odeur à l'Éternel.
42 Voilà l'holocauste perpétuel qui sera offert par vos descendants, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation, devant l'Éternel: c'est là que je me rencontrerai avec vous, et que je te parlerai.
43 Je me rencontrerai là avec les enfants d'Israël, et ce lieu sera sanctifié par ma gloire.
44 Je sanctifierai la tente d'assignation et l'autel; je sanctifierai Aaron et ses fils, pour qu'ils soient à mon service dans le sacerdoce.

Priests are special servants of God
29 When you make the priests God's special servants, do it in this way: Take a young bull and two male sheep. They must not have anything wrong with them. 2 Use good flour from wheat to make three kinds of bread, with no yeast in it. Mix olive oil with some of the flour before you cook it. Cook some of the flour without any oil in it. And cook some flour to make biscuits that you then put oil on. 3 Put the bread and the biscuits into a basket. Bring them to the Tent of Meeting with the bull and the two sheep.[a]
4 Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. Use water to wash them there and make them clean. 5 Then take the special clothes. Dress Aaron in the shirt, the robe, the ephod and the breastpiece. Tie the ephod on him with its special belt. 6 Put the linen hat on Aaron's head. Fix the special gold sign to the hat. 7 Take the special olive oil. Pour it on his head to show that God has chosen him to be his servant.
8 Bring Aaron's sons and dress them in their special shirts. 9 Put the cloth hats on their heads. Tie the long cloth belts around Aaron and on his sons. These men and their descendants will always be priests. That is a law that continues for ever. That is how you must make Aaron and his sons God's special servants.
10 Bring the bull to the front of the Tent of Meeting. Aaron and his sons must put their hands on the bull's head. 11 Then kill the animal as an offering to the Lord, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 12 Take some of the bull's blood. Use your finger to put some of it on the horns of the altar. Pour the blood that remains on the ground around the altar. 13 Take all the fat that is round the inside parts of the animal. Take the best part of the liver. Take both the kidneys with the fat that is round them. Burn all these things on the altar. 14 But burn the rest of the bull's body outside the camp, with its skin and the food in its stomach. It is an offering to make the priests clean from their sins.
15 Take one of the male sheep. Aaron and his sons must put their hands on its head. 16 Kill the sheep and take its blood to the altar. Throw some of the blood onto every side of the altar. 17 Cut the sheep into pieces. Wash its inside parts and its legs. Then put them together with its head and the other pieces. 18 Completely burn the whole sheep on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord. Its smell pleases him.
19 Take the second male sheep. Aaron and his sons must put their hands on its head. 20 Kill the sheep. Put some of its blood on Aaron's right ear, the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. Do the same thing to each of his sons. Then throw some of the sheep's blood onto every side of the altar. 21 Mix together some of the blood on the altar and some of the special oil. Splash this onto Aaron and onto his clothes. Splash it also onto his sons and onto their clothes. Then Aaron and his sons and their clothes will be holy.
22 Take all the fat from this male sheep. Take its fat tail, the fat around its inside parts and the best part of the liver. Take the two kidneys with the fat that is round them. Also take the top part of its right leg. (This is the sheep that makes Aaron and his sons special servants of God.) 23 Take one piece of each kind of flat bread out of the basket: bread that has no oil in it, bread with oil in it and a biscuit. These are an offering to the Lord. 24 Put all these things in the hands of Aaron and his sons. Then lift these things up to the Lord as an offering to him. 25 Then take them from Aaron and his sons and burn them on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord. Its smell pleases him.
26 Take the meat from the ribs of the sheep that makes Aaron God's special servant. Lift it up to the Lord as an offering to him. Then you may eat this meat from the sheep. 27 You must keep separate this meat from the sheep's ribs, as well as the top part of its right leg. Those are the pieces that you lifted up to the Lord as an offering to him. Those pieces belong to Aaron and his sons. 28 In the future, when the Israelites bring a peace offering to the Lord, these pieces will belong to Aaron and his descendants. This will always be the regular gift from the Israelites to the priests. That is the law that will continue for ever. It is the gift that the Israelites must bring to the Lord.
29 Aaron's special clothes will belong to his descendants after he dies. When they too become God's special servants as his priests, they will wear them. 30 After Aaron's death, his son who becomes priest will first take seven days to serve the Lord in the tabernacle. The new priest must wear the special clothes in the Holy Place for those seven days.
31 Take the male sheep that makes Aaron God's special servant. Cook its meat in a holy place in the yard of the tabernacle. 32 Aaron and his sons must eat this meat and the bread that was in the basket. They must do this at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 33 That meat was part of the sacrifice which made them clean from their sins. It made them God's special servants as his priests. No other person may eat those things, because they are holy. 34 But if any of the meat from the offerings remains until the morning, you must burn it. Also burn any bread that remains. You must not eat it, because it is holy.
35 Do everything that I have commanded you, to make Aaron and his sons my special servants. Take seven days to do this. 36 Kill a bull each day, as a sacrifice that makes people clean from their sins.
Also make the altar clean and pure. Pour oil over it to make it holy for me. 37 Do this to the altar for seven days to make it pure. Then it will be completely holy. Anything that touches the altar will become holy too. 38 You must offer a regular gift on the altar each day. This offering must be two lambs that are one year old. 39 Offer one lamb in the morning and the other lamb in the evening. 40 With the first lamb, offer two litres of good flour. Mix the flour with one litre of olive oil. Also offer one litre of wine as a drink offering. 41 Kill the other lamb in the evening. Offer it with the same gifts of food and drink as in the morning. It is a burnt offering to the Lord. Its smell pleases him.
42 You and your descendants must continue to make this burnt offering as a regular offering to me, the Lord. Offer it to me at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. I will meet with you there and I will speak to you. 43 I will meet with the Israelites there. My bright glory will make it a holy place.
44 In that way I will make the Tent of Meeting and its altar a special, holy place. Aaron and his sons will become my special servants. They will serve me as my priests. 45 I will live among the Israelites and I will be their God. 46 They will know that I am the Lord their God. I brought them out of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the Lord their God.

Consecration of the Priests(A)
29 “This is what you are to do to consecrate(B) them, so they may serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect.(C) 2 And from the finest wheat flour make round loaves without yeast, thick loaves without yeast and with olive oil mixed in, and thin loaves without yeast and brushed with olive oil.(D) 3 Put them in a basket and present them along with the bull and the two rams.(E) 4 Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.(F) 5 Take the garments(G) and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband.(H) 6 Put the turban(I) on his head and attach the sacred emblem(J) to the turban. 7 Take the anointing oil(K) and anoint him by pouring it on his head. 8 Bring his sons and dress them in tunics(L) 9 and fasten caps on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons.[a](M) The priesthood is theirs by a lasting ordinance.(N)
“Then you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.
10 “Bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.(O) 11 Slaughter it in the Lord’s presence(P) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 12 Take some of the bull’s blood and put it on the horns(Q) of the altar with your finger, and pour out the rest of it at the base of the altar.(R) 13 Then take all the fat(S) on the internal organs,(T) the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar. 14 But burn the bull’s flesh and its hide and its intestines(U) outside the camp.(V) It is a sin offering.[b]
15 “Take one of the rams,(W) and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.(X) 16 Slaughter it and take the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar. 17 Cut the ram into pieces and wash(Y) the internal organs and the legs, putting them with the head and the other pieces. 18 Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord, a pleasing aroma,(Z) a food offering presented to the Lord.
19 “Take the other ram,(AA) and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.(AB) 20 Slaughter it, take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet.(AC) Then splash blood against the sides of the altar.(AD) 21 And take some blood(AE) from the altar and some of the anointing oil(AF) and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. Then he and his sons and their garments will be consecrated.(AG)
22 “Take from this ram the fat,(AH) the fat tail, the fat on the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh. (This is the ram for the ordination.) 23 From the basket of bread made without yeast, which is before the Lord, take one round loaf, one thick loaf with olive oil mixed in, and one thin loaf. 24 Put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and have them wave them before the Lord as a wave offering.(AI) 25 Then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar along with the burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the Lord, a food offering presented to the Lord.(AJ) 26 After you take the breast of the ram for Aaron’s ordination, wave it before the Lord as a wave offering, and it will be your share.(AK)
27 “Consecrate those parts of the ordination ram that belong to Aaron and his sons:(AL) the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. 28 This is always to be the perpetual share from the Israelites for Aaron and his sons. It is the contribution the Israelites are to make to the Lord from their fellowship offerings.(AM)
29 “Aaron’s sacred garments(AN) will belong to his descendants so that they can be anointed and ordained in them.(AO) 30 The son(AP) who succeeds him as priest and comes to the tent of meeting to minister in the Holy Place is to wear them seven days.
31 “Take the ram(AQ) for the ordination and cook the meat in a sacred place.(AR) 32 At the entrance to the tent of meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread(AS) that is in the basket. 33 They are to eat these offerings by which atonement was made for their ordination and consecration. But no one else may eat(AT) them, because they are sacred. 34 And if any of the meat of the ordination ram or any bread is left over till morning,(AU) burn it up. It must not be eaten, because it is sacred.
35 “Do for Aaron and his sons everything I have commanded you, taking seven days to ordain them. 36 Sacrifice a bull each day(AV) as a sin offering to make atonement(AW). Purify the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate(AX) it. 37 For seven days make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy.(AY)
38 “This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day:(AZ) two lambs a year old. 39 Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight.(BA) 40 With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah[c] of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin[d] of oil(BB) from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering.(BC) 41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight(BD) with the same grain offering(BE) and its drink offering as in the morning—a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.
42 “For the generations to come(BF) this burnt offering is to be made regularly(BG) at the entrance to the tent of meeting,(BH) before the Lord. There I will meet you and speak to you;(BI) 43 there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory.(BJ)
44 “So I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.(BK) 45 Then I will dwell(BL) among the Israelites and be their God.(BM) 46 They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt(BN) so that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.(BO)
