¹⁴ Then she saw^[a] the king standing by the pillar, according to custom. The officers stood beside the king with their trumpets, and all the people of the land were celebrating and blowing trumpets. Athaliah tore her clothes and screamed, “Treason, treason!”^{[b] 15} Jehoiada the priest ordered the officers of the units of hundreds, who were in charge of the army,^[c] “Bring her outside the temple to the guards.^[d] Put to death by the sword anyone who follows her.” The priest gave this order because he had decided she should not be executed in the Lord’s temple.^{[e] 16} They seized her and took her into the precincts of the royal palace through the horses’ entrance.^[f] There she was executed.

¹¹ King David dedicated these things to the Lord,^[a] along with the silver and gold which he had carried off from all the nations, including^[b] Edom,^[c] Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.

¹² Abishai son of Zeruiah^[d] killed 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. ¹³ He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s subjects. The Lord protected^[e] David wherever he campaigned.^[f]
