⁹ So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of ^(A)the ^[a]tabernacle of the Lord. ^10 (B)And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and ^[b]wept in anguish. ¹¹ Then she ^(C)made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed ^(D)look on the affliction of Your maidservant and ^(E)remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and ^(F)no razor shall come upon his head.”

¹² And it happened, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli watched her mouth. ¹³ Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. ¹⁴ So Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you!”

¹⁵ But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have ^(G)poured out my soul before the Lord. ¹⁶ Do not consider your maidservant a ^(H)wicked^[c] woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”

¹⁷ Then Eli answered and said, ^(I)“Go in peace, and ^(J)the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”

¹⁸ And she said, ^(K)“Let your maidservant find favor in your sight.” So the woman ^(L)went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

Samuel Is Born and Dedicated

¹⁹ Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah ^(M)knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord ^(N)remembered her. ²⁰ So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name ^[d]Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

A Multitude from the Great Tribulation

⁹ After these things I looked, and behold, ^(A)a great multitude which no one could number, ^(B)of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, ^(C)clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰ and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ^(D)“Salvation belongs to our God ^(E)who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” ^11 (F)All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and ^(G)worshiped God, ^12 (H)saying:

¹³ Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in ^(I)white robes, and where did they come from?”

¹⁴ And I said to him, ^[a]“Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, ^(J)“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and ^(K)washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will ^(L)dwell among them. ^16 (M)They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; ^(N)the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; ¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne ^(O)will shepherd them and lead them to ^[b]living fountains of waters. ^(P)And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him^(A)

⁴⁶ While He was still talking to the multitudes, ^(B)behold, His mother and ^(C)brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. ⁴⁷ Then one said to Him, “Look, ^(D)Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”

⁴⁸ But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” ⁴⁹ And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My ^(E)brothers! ⁵⁰ For ^(F)whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
