1 Chronicles 18:4-6
New English Translation
4 David seized from him 1,000 chariots, 7,000 charioteers,[a] and 20,000 infantrymen . David cut the hamstrings of all but 100 of Hadadezer’s[b] chariot horses.[c] 5 The Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, but David killed 22,000 of the Arameans. 6 David placed garrisons in the territory of the Arameans of Damascus;[d] the Arameans became David’s subjects and brought tribute. The Lord protected[e] David wherever he campaigned.[f]

New International Version
4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung(A) all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus(B) came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them. 6 He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought him tribute. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.
