53 مَنْ آمَنَ بِكَلامِنَا، وَلِمَنْ ظَهَرَتْ يَدُ الرَّبِّ؟ 2 نَمَا كَبُرْعُمٍ أَمَامَهُ، وَكَجِذْرٍ فِي أَرْضٍ يَابِسَةٍ، لَا صُورَةَ لَهُ وَلا جَمَالَ يَسْتَرْعِيَانِ نَظَرَنَا، وَلا مَنْظَرَ فَنَشْتَهِيَهُ. 3 مُحْتَقَرٌ وَمَنْبُوذٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، رَجُلُ آلامٍ وَمُخْتَبِرُ الْحُزْنِ، مَخْذُولٌ كَمَنْ حَجَبَ النَّاسُ عَنْهُ وُجُوهَهُمْ فَلَمْ نَأْبَهْ لَهُ.

4 لَكِنَّهُ حَمَلَ أَحْزَانَنَا وَتَحَمَّلَ أَوْجَاعَنَا، وَنَحْنُ حَسِبْنَا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ عَاقَبَهُ وَأَذَلَّهُ، 5 إِلّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَجْرُوحاً مِنْ أَجْلِ آثَامِنَا وَمَسْحُوقاً مِنْ أَجْلِ مَعَاصِينَا، حَلَّ بِهِ تَأْدِيبُ سَلامِنَا، وَبِجِرَاحِهِ بَرِئْنَا. 6 كُلُّنَا كَغَنَمٍ شَرَدْنَا مِلْنَا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ إِلَى سَبِيلِهِ، فَأَثْقَلَ الرَّبُّ كَاهِلَهُ بِإِثْمِ جَمِيعِنَا. 7 ظُلِمَ وَأُذِلَّ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَفْتَحْ فَاهُ، بَلْ كَشَاةٍ سِيقَ إِلَى الذَّبْحِ، وَكَنَعْجَةٍ صَامِتَةٍ أَمَامَ جَازِّيهَا لَمْ يَفْتَحْ فَاهُ. 8 بِالضِّيقِ وَالْقَضَاءِ قُبِضَ عَلَيْهِ، وَفِي جِيلِهِ مَنْ كَانَ يَظُنُّ أَنَّهُ اسْتُؤْصِلَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الأَحْيَاءِ، وَضُرِبَ مِنْ أَجْلِ إِثْمِ شَعْبِي؟ 9 جَعَلُوا قَبْرَهُ مَعَ الأَشْرَارِ، وَمَعَ ثَرِيٍّ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ. مَعَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرْتَكِبْ جَوْراً، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي فَمِهِ غِشٌّ.

10 وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ سُرَّ اللهُ أَنْ يَسْحَقَهُ بِالْحَزَنِ. وَحِينَ يُقَدِّمُ نَفْسَهُ ذَبِيحَةَ إِثْمٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَرَى نَسْلَهُ وَتَطُولُ أَيَّامُهُ، وَتُفْلِحُ مَسَرَّةُ الرَّبِّ عَلَى يَدِهِ. 11 وَيَرَى ثِمَارَ تَعَبِ نَفْسِهِ وَيَشْبَعُ، وَعَبْدِي الْبَارُّ يُبَرِّرُ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِ كَثِيرِينَ وَيَحْمِلُ آثَامَهُمْ. 12 لِذَلِكَ أَهَبُهُ نَصِيباً بَيْنَ الْعُظَمَاءِ، فَيَقْسِمُ غَنِيمَةً مَعَ الأَعِزَّاءِ، لأَنَّهُ سَكَبَ لِلْمَوْتِ نَفْسَهُ، وَأُحْصِيَ مَعَ أَثَمَةٍ. وَهُوَ حَمَلَ خَطِيئَةَ كَثِيرِينَ، وَشَفَعَ فِي الْمُذْنِبِينَ.

53 مَنْ يُصَدِّقُ مَا سَمِعنَاهُ؟
وَلِمَنْ أُظهِرَتْ قُوَّةُ اللهِ؟
2 نَمَا كَنَبتَةٍ صَغِيرَةٍ أمَامَهُ،
وَمِثْلَ جَذرٍ فِي أرْضٍ جَافَّةٍ.
لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ جَمَالٌ أوْ بَهَاءٌ حَتَّى نَنظُرَ إلَيْهِ،
وَلَا كَانَ فِي هَيئَتِهِ شَيءٌ جَذَّابٌ حَتَّى نَشْتَهِيَهُ.
3 احْتَقَرَهُ النَّاسُ وَتَرَكُوهُ.
هُوَ رَجُلُ آلَامٍ كَثِيرَةٍ،
وَخَبِيرٌ بِالمُعَانَاةِ.
احتَقَرَهُ النَّاسُ كَمَنْبُوذٍ
يُخَبِّئُونَ وَجُوهَهُمْ لِكَي لَا يَرَوْهُ،
وَنَحْنُ لَمْ نَهْتَمَّ بِهِ.
4 لَكِنَّهُ رَفَعَ اعتِلَالَاتِنَا،
وَحَمَلَ أمرَاضَنَا.
وَنَحْنُ ظَنَنَّا أنَّ اللهَ يَضْرِبُهُ وَيُذِلُّهُ.
5 لَكِنَّهُ جُرِحَ بِسَبَبِ مَعَاصِينَا،
وَسُحِقَ بِسَبَبِ آثَامِنَا.
وَقَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ عُقُوبَتُنَا فَنَعُمْنَا بِالسَّلَامِ.
وَشُفِينَا بِسَبِبِ جُرُوحِهِ.
6 كُلُّنَا ضَلَلنَا كَالغَنَمِ،
وَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ ذَهَبَ فِي طَرِيقِهِ.
لَكِنَّ اللهَ وَضَعَ عَلَيْهِ عِقَابَ آثَامِنَا جَمِيعًا.

7 عُومِلَ بِقَسوَةٍ وَعَانَى،
وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يُدَافِعْ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ.
مِثْلَ شَاةٍ تُقَادُ إلَى الذَّبحِ،
وَمِثْلَ نَعجَةٍ صَامِتَةٍ أمَامَ جَازِّيهَا.
8 أُخِذَ بَالقُوَّةِ وَأُدِينَ ظُلمًا.
وَلَا أحَدَ فِي جِيلِهِ اكتَرَثَ
بِأنَّهُ قُطِعَ مِنْ أرْضِ الأحيَاءِ،
وَعُوقِبَ بِسَبَبِ شَرِّ شَعْبِهِ.

9 جَعَلُوا قَبرَهُ مَعَ الأشْرَارِ،
وَمَدفَنَهُ مَعَ غَنِيٍّ.
مَعَ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَظْلِمْ أحَدًا،
وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي فَمِهِ أيُّ كَذِبٍ.
10 وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ رَضِيَ بِسَحقِهِ تَحْتَ الألَمِ.
وَبَعْدَ أنْ قَدَّمَ نَفْسَهُ ذَبِيحَةَ خَطِيَّةٍ،
سَيَرَى نَسْلَهُ وَتَطُولُ أيَّامُهُ،
وَسَيَنْجَحُ فِي تَحْقِيقِ إرَادَةِ اللهِ.
11 سَيَرَى ثَمَرَ مُعَانَاتِهِ
وَسَيُرْضِيهِ أنْ يَعْرِفَ ذَلِكَ.

«لِأنَّ عَبدِي البَارَّ سَيُبَرِّرُ كَثِيرِينَ،
وَسَيَحْمِلُ ذُنُوبَهُمْ.
12 لِذَلِكَ سَأُعْطِيهِ نَصِيبًا بَيْنَ العُظَمَاءِ،
وَسَيقسِمُ الغَنِيمَةَ مَعَ الأقوِيَاءِ،
لِأنَّهُ سَكَبَ نَفْسَهُ لِلمُوتِ
وَحُسِبَ مَعَ المُرتَدِّينَ.
وَهُوَ حَمَلَ خَطِيَّةَ الكَثِيرِينَ،
وَشَفَعَ فِي المُذنِبِينَ.»

53 Chi avrebbe creduto alla nostra rivelazione?
A chi sarebbe stato manifestato il braccio del Signore?
2 E' cresciuto come un virgulto davanti a lui
e come una radice in terra arida.
Non ha apparenza né bellezza
per attirare i nostri sguardi,
non splendore per provare in lui diletto.
3 Disprezzato e reietto dagli uomini,
uomo dei dolori che ben conosce il patire,
come uno davanti al quale ci si copre la faccia,
era disprezzato e non ne avevamo alcuna stima.
4 Eppure egli si è caricato delle nostre sofferenze,
si è addossato i nostri dolori
e noi lo giudicavamo castigato,
percosso da Dio e umiliato.
5 Egli è stato trafitto per i nostri delitti,
schiacciato per le nostre iniquità.
Il castigo che ci dà salvezza si è abbattuto su di lui;
per le sue piaghe noi siamo stati guariti.
6 Noi tutti eravamo sperduti come un gregge,
ognuno di noi seguiva la sua strada;
il Signore fece ricadere su di lui
l'iniquità di noi tutti.
7 Maltrattato, si lasciò umiliare
e non aprì la sua bocca;
era come agnello condotto al macello,
come pecora muta di fronte ai suoi tosatori,
e non aprì la sua bocca.
8 Con oppressione e ingiusta sentenza fu tolto di mezzo;
chi si affligge per la sua sorte?
Sì, fu eliminato dalla terra dei viventi,
per l'iniquità del mio popolo fu percosso a morte.
9 Gli si diede sepoltura con gli empi,
con il ricco fu il suo tumulo,
sebbene non avesse commesso violenza
né vi fosse inganno nella sua bocca.
10 Ma al Signore è piaciuto prostrarlo con dolori.
Quando offrirà se stesso in espiazione,
vedrà una discendenza, vivrà a lungo,
si compirà per mezzo suo la volontà del Signore.
11 Dopo il suo intimo tormento vedrà la luce
e si sazierà della sua conoscenza;
il giusto mio servo giustificherà molti,
egli si addosserà la loro iniquità.
12 Perciò io gli darò in premio le moltitudini,
dei potenti egli farà bottino,
perché ha consegnato se stesso alla morte
ed è stato annoverato fra gli empi,
mentre egli portava il peccato di molti
e intercedeva per i peccatori.

53 Who has believed our message(A)
    and to whom has the arm(B) of the Lord been revealed?(C)
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,(D)
    and like a root(E) out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance(F) that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering,(G) and familiar with pain.(H)
Like one from whom people hide(I) their faces
    he was despised,(J) and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,(K)
yet we considered him punished by God,(L)
    stricken by him, and afflicted.(M)
5 But he was pierced(N) for our transgressions,(O)
    he was crushed(P) for our iniquities;
the punishment(Q) that brought us peace(R) was on him,
    and by his wounds(S) we are healed.(T)
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,(U)
    each of us has turned to our own way;(V)
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity(W) of us all.

7 He was oppressed(X) and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;(Y)
he was led like a lamb(Z) to the slaughter,(AA)
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression[a] and judgment(AB) he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;(AC)
    for the transgression(AD) of my people he was punished.[b]
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,(AE)
    and with the rich(AF) in his death,
though he had done no violence,(AG)
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.(AH)

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will(AI) to crush(AJ) him and cause him to suffer,(AK)
    and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin,(AL)
he will see his offspring(AM) and prolong his days,
    and the will of the Lord will prosper(AN) in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,(AO)
    he will see the light(AP) of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant(AQ) will justify(AR) many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.(AS)
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g](AT)
    and he will divide the spoils(AU) with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,(AV)
    and was numbered with the transgressors.(AW)
For he bore(AX) the sin of many,(AY)
    and made intercession(AZ) for the transgressors.
