³试探者前来对他说：“你若是　神的儿子，就吩咐这些石头变成食物吧！” ⁴耶稣回答：“经上记着：

‘人活着，不是单靠食物，

更要靠　神口里所出的一切话。’”

⁵随后，魔鬼带耶稣进了圣城，使他站在殿的最高处，

³The tempter^(A) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,^(B) tell these stones to become bread.”

⁴Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’^[a]”^(C)

⁵Then the devil took him to the holy city^(D) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

³And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

⁴But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁵Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

³Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

⁴But He answered and said, “It is written, ^(A)‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

⁵Then the devil took Him up ^(B)into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,
