Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralytic(A)
9 So He got into a boat, crossed over, (B)and came to His own city. 2 (C)Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. (D)When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”
3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”
4 But Jesus, (E)knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house.
8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they (F)marveled[a] and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
Matthew the Tax Collector(G)
9 (H)As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.
10 (I)Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with (J)tax collectors and (K)sinners?”
12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: (L)‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, (M)but sinners, [b]to repentance.”
Jesus Is Questioned About Fasting(N)
14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, (O)“Why do we and the Pharisees fast [c]often, but Your disciples do not fast?”
15 And Jesus said to them, “Can (P)the [d]friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and (Q)then they will fast. 16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for [e]the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins [f]break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed(R)
18 (S)While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His (T)disciples.
20 (U)And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and (V)touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; (W)your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.
23 (X)When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw (Y)the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, (Z)“Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and (AA)took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the (AB)report of this went out into all that land.
Two Blind Men Healed
27 When Jesus departed from there, (AC)two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, (AD)“Son of David, have mercy on us!”
28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, (AE)“See that no one knows it.” 31 (AF)But when they had departed, they [g]spread the news about Him in all that [h]country.
A Mute Man Speaks
32 (AG)As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. 33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”
34 But the Pharisees said, (AH)“He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”
The Compassion of Jesus(AI)
35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, (AJ)teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease [i]among the people. 36 (AK)But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were [j]weary and scattered, (AL)like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, (AM)“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 (AN)Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Pinagaling ni Jesus ang Isang Lumpo(A)
9 Pagkatapos sumakay sa isang bangka, tumawid si Jesus[a] at dumating sa kanyang sariling bayan.
2 Dinala nila sa kanya ang isang lumpo na nakaratay sa isang higaan. Nang makita ni Jesus ang kanilang pananampalataya, sinabi niya sa lumpo, “Anak, lakasan mo ang iyong loob, pinatatawad na ang iyong mga kasalanan.”
3 Ang ilan sa mga eskriba ay nagsabi, “Nilalapastangan ng taong ito ang Diyos.”
4 Ngunit palibhasa'y alam ni Jesus ang kanilang mga iniisip ay sinabi niya, “Bakit nag-iisip kayo sa inyong mga puso ng masama?
5 Sapagkat alin ba ang mas madali, ang sabihing, ‘Pinatatawad na ang iyong mga kasalanan?’ o sabihing, ‘Tumindig ka at lumakad?’
6 Ngunit upang malaman ninyo na sa lupa ay may awtoridad ang Anak ng Tao na magpatawad ng mga kasalanan,” kaya't sinabi niya sa lumpo, “Tumindig ka, buhatin mo ang iyong higaan, at umuwi ka sa bahay mo.”
7 Tumindig siya at umuwi sa kanyang bahay.
8 Nang makita ito ng maraming tao, sila ay natakot at niluwalhati nila ang Diyos, na nagbigay ng gayong awtoridad sa mga tao.
Ang Pagtawag kay Mateo(B)
9 Habang si Jesus ay naglalakad mula roon, nakita niya ang isang tao na tinatawag na Mateo na nakaupo sa tanggapan ng buwis. Sinabi niya sa kanya, “Sumunod ka sa akin.” At siya ay tumayo at sumunod sa kanya.
10 Habang(C) nakaupo[b] siya sa may hapag-kainan sa bahay, dumating ang maraming maniningil ng buwis at mga makasalanan at umupong kasalo ni Jesus at ng kanyang mga alagad.
11 Nang makita ito ng mga Fariseo, sinabi nila sa kanyang mga alagad, “Bakit nakikisalo ang inyong guro sa mga maniningil ng buwis at mga makasalanan?”
12 Ngunit nang marinig niya ito ay sinabi niya, “Ang mga walang sakit ay hindi nangangailangan ng manggagamot, kundi ang mga may sakit.
13 Kaya,(D) humayo kayo at pag-aralan ninyo kung ano ang kahulugan nito: ‘Habag ang ibig ko, at hindi handog.’ Sapagkat hindi ako pumarito upang tawagin ang mga matuwid, kundi ang mga makasalanan.”
Tinanong si Jesus tungkol sa Pag-aayuno(E)
14 Pagkatapos ay lumapit sa kanya ang mga alagad ni Juan na nagsasabi, “Bakit kami at ang mga Fariseo ay nag-aayuno[c] ngunit ang mga alagad mo ay hindi nag-aayuno?”
15 At sinabi sa kanila ni Jesus, “Maaari bang magluksa ang mga panauhin sa kasalan samantalang kasama pa nila ang lalaking ikakasal? Ngunit darating ang mga araw na ang lalaking ikakasal ay kukunin sa kanila, at saka sila mag-aayuno.
16 Sinuman ay hindi nagtatagpi ng bagong tela sa lumang damit; sapagkat binabatak ng tagpi ang damit at lumalala ang punit.
17 Hindi rin inilalagay ang bagong alak sa mga lumang sisidlang balat; sapagkat kung gayon, puputok ang mga balat, at matatapon ang alak, at masisira ang mga balat; ngunit inilalagay ang bagong alak sa mga bagong balat, at pareho silang tumatagal.
Muling Binuhay ang Anak ng Pinuno at Pinagaling ang Isang Babae(F)
18 Samantalang sinasabi niya sa kanila ang mga bagay na ito, may dumating na isang pinuno at lumuhod sa harapan niya at nagsabi, “Kamamatay pa lamang ng aking anak na babae, ngunit puntahan mo siya at ipatong mo ang iyong kamay sa kanya, at mabubuhay siya.”
19 Tumayo si Jesus at sumunod sa kanya, kasama ang kanyang mga alagad.
20 Samantala, may isang babaing labindalawang taon nang dinudugo ang lumapit sa likuran niya at hinipo nito ang laylayan ng kanyang damit;
21 sapagkat sinabi niya sa kanyang sarili, “Kung mahihipo ko lamang ang kanyang damit ay gagaling ako.”
22 Nang lumingon si Jesus at nakita siya ay sinabi niya, “Anak, lakasan mo ang iyong loob; pinagaling ka ng iyong pananampalataya.” Gumaling nga ang babae sa oras ding iyon.
23 Nang dumating na si Jesus sa bahay ng pinuno, at makita niya ang mga manunugtog ng plauta at ang maraming tao na nagkakagulo,
24 ay sinabi niya, “Umalis na kayo, sapagkat hindi patay ang batang babae kundi natutulog lamang.” At siya ay pinagtawanan nila.
25 Ngunit nang mapalabas na ang maraming tao, pumasok siya at hinawakan ang kamay ng batang babae at ito ay bumangon.
26 At kumalat ang balitang ito sa buong lupaing iyon.
Nakakita ang Dalawang Bulag
27 Nang papaalis na si Jesus mula roon, sinundan siya ng dalawang lalaking bulag na sumisigaw ng malakas, “Mahabag ka sa amin, Anak ni David.”
28 Nang makapasok na siya sa bahay, lumapit sa kanya ang mga lalaking bulag; at sinabi sa kanila ni Jesus, “Sumasampalataya ba kayo na magagawa ko ito?” Sinabi nila sa kanya, “Opo, Panginoon.”
29 Kaya't hinipo niya ang kanilang mga mata, na sinasabi, “Mangyari sa inyo ang ayon sa inyong pananampalataya.”
30 At nabuksan ang kanilang mga mata. Mahigpit silang pinagbilinan ni Jesus, “Ingatan ninyo na walang makakaalam nito.”
31 Ngunit sila ay umalis, at ikinalat ang balita tungkol sa kanya sa buong lupaing iyon.
Nakapagsalita ang Isang Pipi
32 Nang makaalis na sila, dinala sa kanya ang isang lalaking pipi na inaalihan ng demonyo.
33 Nang mapalabas na ang demonyo, nagsalita ang dating pipi. Namangha ang maraming tao at nagsabi, “Wala pang nakitang tulad nito sa Israel.”
34 Ngunit(G) sinabi ng mga Fariseo, “Nagpapalayas siya ng mga demonyo sa pamamagitan ng pinuno ng mga demonyo.”[d]
Nahabag si Jesus sa mga Tao
35 Nilibot(H) ni Jesus ang lahat ng mga lunsod at mga nayon, na nagtuturo sa mga sinagoga nila at ipinangangaral ang magandang balita ng kaharian, at pinapagaling ang bawat sakit at bawat karamdaman.
36 Nang(I) makita niya ang napakaraming tao, nahabag siya sa kanila, sapagkat sila ay nangangamba at nanlulupaypay na gaya ng mga tupa na walang pastol.
37 Kaya't(J) sinabi niya sa kanyang mga alagad, “Tunay na napakarami ng aanihin, ngunit kakaunti ang manggagawa;
38 idalangin ninyo sa Panginoon ng anihin, na magpadala ng mga manggagawa sa kanyang aanihin.”

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(A)
9 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town.(B) 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man,(C) lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith,(D) he said to the man, “Take heart,(E) son; your sins are forgiven.”(F)
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”(G)
4 Knowing their thoughts,(H) Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(I) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God,(J) who had given such authority to man.
The Calling of Matthew(K)
9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(L) he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(M)
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a](N) For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”(O)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(P)
14 Then John’s(Q) disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often,(R) but your disciples do not fast?”
15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them?(S) The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.(T)
16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(U)
18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him(V) and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her,(W) and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.
20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.(X) 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart,(Y) daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”(Z) And the woman was healed at that moment.(AA)
23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,(AB) 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead(AC) but asleep.”(AD) But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.(AE) 26 News of this spread through all that region.(AF)
Jesus Heals the Blind and the Mute
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”(AG)
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.(AH)
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;(AI) 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”(AJ) 31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.(AK)
32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed(AL) and could not talk(AM) was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”(AN)
34 But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”(AO)
The Workers Are Few
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.(AP) 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them,(AQ) because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.(AR) 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest(AS) is plentiful but the workers are few.(AT) 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
