22 Los habitantes de Jerusalén hicieron rey en lugar de Joram a Ocozías su hijo menor; porque una banda armada que había venido con los árabes al campamento, había matado a todos los mayores, por lo cual reinó Ocozías, hijo de Joram rey de Judá. 2 Cuando Ocozías comenzó a reinar era de cuarenta y dos años, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Atalía, hija de Omri. 3 También él anduvo en los caminos de la casa de Acab, pues su madre le aconsejaba a que actuase impíamente. 4 Hizo, pues, lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, como la casa de Acab; porque después de la muerte de su padre, ellos le aconsejaron para su perdición. 5 Y él anduvo en los consejos de ellos, y fue a la guerra con Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, contra Hazael rey de Siria, a Ramot de Galaad, donde los sirios hirieron a Joram. 6 Y volvió para curarse en Jezreel de las heridas que le habían hecho en Ramot, peleando contra Hazael rey de Siria. Y descendió Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, para visitar a Joram hijo de Acab en Jezreel, porque allí estaba enfermo.
Jehú mata a Ocozías

7 Pero esto venía de Dios, para que Ocozías fuese destruido viniendo a Joram; porque habiendo venido, salió con Joram contra Jehú hijo de Nimsi, al cual Jehová había ungido para que exterminara la familia de Acab. 8 Y haciendo juicio Jehú contra la casa de Acab, halló a los príncipes de Judá, y a los hijos de los hermanos de Ocozías, que servían a Ocozías, y los mató. 9 Y buscando a Ocozías, el cual se había escondido en Samaria, lo hallaron y lo trajeron a Jehú, y le mataron; y le dieron sepultura, porque dijeron: Es hijo de Josafat, quien de todo su corazón buscó a Jehová. Y la casa de Ocozías no tenía fuerzas para poder retener el reino.
Atalía usurpa el trono

10 Entonces Atalía madre de Ocozías, viendo que su hijo era muerto, se levantó y exterminó toda la descendencia real de la casa de Judá. 11 Pero Josabet, hija del rey, tomó a Joás hijo de Ocozías, y escondiéndolo de entre los demás hijos del rey, a los cuales mataban, le guardó a él y a su ama en uno de los aposentos. Así lo escondió Josabet, hija del rey Joram, mujer del sacerdote Joiada (porque ella era hermana de Ocozías), de delante de Atalía, y no lo mataron. 12 Y estuvo con ellos escondido en la casa de Dios seis años. Entre tanto, Atalía reinaba en el país.

Ang Paghahari ni Ahazia sa Juda(A)
22 Si Ahazia na bunsong anak ni Jehoram ang iniluklok ng mga mamamayan ng Jerusalem na kanilang hari. Sapagkat ang ibang mga anak ni Jehoram ay pinagpapatay ng mga tulisang Arabo na lumusob sa Juda. Kaya naghari sa Juda si Ahazia na anak ni Haring Jehoram. 2 Si Ahazia ay 22[a] taong gulang nang maging hari. Sa Jerusalem siya tumira, at naghari siya roon sa loob ng isang taon. Ang ina niya ay si Atalia na apo ni Omri.
3 Sumunod din si Ahazia sa pamumuhay ng sambahayan ni Ahab, dahil hinikayat siya ng kanyang ina sa paggawa ng kasamaan. 4 Masama ang ginawa niya sa paningin ng Panginoon katulad ng ginawa ng sambahayan ni Ahab, dahil pagkatapos mamatay ng kanyang ama, naging tagapayo niya ang mga miyembro ng sambahayan ni Ahab. 5 Sinunod niya ang payo nila na kumampi kay Joram na anak ni Haring Ahab ng Israel. Sumama siya kay Joram sa pakikipaglaban kay Haring Hazael ng Aram. Naglaban sila sa Ramot Gilead, at nasugatan si Joram.
6 Kaya umuwi siya sa lungsod ng Jezreel para magpagaling ng sugat niya. Habang naroon siya, dinalaw siya ni Haring Ahazia ng Juda.
7 Ang pagdalaw ni Ahazia kay Joram ay ginamit ng Dios para lipulin si Ahazia. Nang naroon si Ahazia sa Jezreel, tinulungan niya si Joram para makipaglaban kay Jehu na anak ni Nimsi. Si Jehu ang pinili ng Panginoon para lipulin ang sambahayan ni Ahab.
8 Habang nililipol ni Jehu ang sambahayan ni Ahab, nakita niya ang mga opisyal ng Juda at ang mga anak ng mga kamag-anak ni Ahazia na sumama kay Ahazia. At pinagpapatay niya sila. 9 Pagkatapos, hinanap ng mga tauhan ni Jehu si Ahazia, at nakita nila ito na nagtatago sa lungsod ng Samaria. Dinala siya kay Jehu at pinatay. Siyaʼy inilibing nila dahil sabi nila, “Apo siya ni Jehoshafat, ang taong dumulog sa Panginoon ng buong puso.”
Wala ni isang naiwan sa mga miyembro ng pamilya ni Ahazia ang may kakayahang maghari.

10 Nang malaman ni Atalia na patay na ang anak niyang si Ahazia, nagpasya siyang patayin ang lahat ng miyembro ng pamilya ng hari ng Juda. 11 Pero iniligtas ni Jehosheba ang anak ni Ahazia na si Joash nang papatayin na ito at ang iba pang mga anak ng hari. Si Jehosheba[b] ay kapatid ni Ahazia at anak na babae ni Haring Jehoram, at asawa ng paring si Jehoyada. Itinago niya si Joash at ang kanyang yaya sa isang silid sa templo, kaya hindi siya napatay ni Atalia. 12 Sa loob ng anim na taon, nakatago sa templo ng Panginoon si Joash habang si Atalia ang namamahala sa kaharian at lupain.

Ahaziah King of Judah(A)(B)
22 The people(C) of Jerusalem(D) made Ahaziah, Jehoram’s youngest son, king in his place, since the raiders,(E) who came with the Arabs into the camp, had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two[a] years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri.
3 He too followed(F) the ways of the house of Ahab,(G) for his mother encouraged him to act wickedly. 4 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for after his father’s death they became his advisers, to his undoing. 5 He also followed their counsel when he went with Joram[b] son of Ahab king of Israel to wage war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead.(H) The Arameans wounded Joram; 6 so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramoth[c] in his battle with Hazael(I) king of Aram.
Then Ahaziah[d] son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab because he had been wounded.
7 Through Ahaziah’s(J) visit to Joram, God brought about Ahaziah’s downfall. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab. 8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab,(K) he found the officials of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s relatives, who had been attending Ahaziah, and he killed them. 9 He then went in search of Ahaziah, and his men captured him while he was hiding(L) in Samaria. He was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, “He was a son of Jehoshaphat, who sought(M) the Lord with all his heart.” So there was no one in the house of Ahaziah powerful enough to retain the kingdom.
Athaliah and Joash(N)
10 When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family of the house of Judah. 11 But Jehosheba,[e] the daughter of King Jehoram, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes who were about to be murdered and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehosheba,[f] the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of the priest Jehoiada, was Ahaziah’s sister, she hid the child from Athaliah so she could not kill him. 12 He remained hidden with them at the temple of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.

Ahaziah. 1 The people of Jerusalem then chose Jehoram’s youngest son Ahaziah[a] as his successor, since the troops who had come into the camp with the Arabs had killed all the older sons. Thus Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, reigned as King of Judah.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he ascended the throne, and he reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri. 3 He too followed the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him to pursue evil practices. 4 [b]To his own destruction he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for after his father’s death they became his advisors.
5 Ahaziah even followed their advice when he made an alliance with Jehoram, the son of King Ahab of Israel, to make war against King Hazael of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead. In that conflict Jehoram was wounded by the Arameans. 6 As a result, Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, the son of Ahab, in Jezreel.
7 However, it was ordained by God that the visit of Ahaziah to Jehoram should be the occasion of his downfall. For when he arrived there, he went forth with Jehoram to meet Jehu, the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab. 8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he also encountered the officials of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s brothers, and he killed them.
9 Then Jehu went forth in search of Ahaziah, and his men captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. They brought Ahaziah to Jehu, who put him to death. However, they buried him, for they said: “He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat who sought the Lord with all his heart.” As a result, there was no one remaining from the house of Ahaziah who was strong enough to rule.
10 When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, was told that her son was dead, she was determined to destroy all the royal offspring of the house of Judah. 11 However, Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, secretly took Joash, the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were about to be killed, and she put him with his nurse in a bedroom.
In this way, Jehosheba, who was the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, as well as a sister of Ahaziah, hid Joash from Athaliah so that she was unable to kill him. 12 Joash remained hidden with them in the house of God for six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.
