亞撒利雅的預言與勸勉
15 神的靈降在俄德的兒子亞撒利雅身上， 2 亞撒利雅就出來迎接亞撒，對他說：“亞撒和猶大、便雅憫所有的人哪！請聽我說。你們跟隨耶和華，耶和華就和你們同在；你們尋求他，就必給你們尋見；你們離棄他，他必離棄你們。 3 以色列人沒有真神，沒有教導他們的祭司，沒有律法，已經很久了。 4 但他們在遭難的時候，回轉歸向耶和華以色列的 神，尋求他，他就給他們尋見。 5 那時，出入的人都沒有平安，因為各國的居民都遭遇動亂。 6 這國攻擊那國，這城攻擊那城，因為 神用各樣災難使他們紛亂。 7 但你們要堅強，不要膽怯，因為你們所行的，必有賞報。”

15 上帝的靈降在俄德的兒子亞撒利雅身上， 2 他便出來迎接亞撒，對他說：「亞撒啊，所有的猶大人和便雅憫人啊，請聽我說！你們若順從耶和華，祂必與你們同在。你們若尋求祂，祂必讓你們尋見。你們若背棄祂，祂必離棄你們。 3 以色列人已經許久沒有真神，沒有祭司教導，也沒有律法。 4 然而，他們在患難時歸向以色列的上帝耶和華，尋求祂，祂就讓他們尋見。 5 那時，人們出入不得平安，因為各地都有動亂。 6 邦國與邦國、城邑與城邑互相攻擊破壞，因為上帝用各樣的災難擾亂他們。 7 但你們要剛強，不要雙手發軟，因為你們必因所行的而得獎賞。」

Asá es fiel a Dios (1 R 15.11-15)
15 1-6 El espíritu de Dios le dio al profeta Azarías hijo de Oded un mensaje para el rey Asá, el cual decía:
«¡Tú, Asá, y ustedes, tribus de Judá y de Benjamín, pongan atención! Hace mucho tiempo, Israel había dejado de adorar al Dios verdadero, y no tuvo sacerdotes que le enseñasen su ley. En esos días, Dios castigaba a los pueblos con toda clase de angustias. Por todas partes, la gente vivía con mucha inseguridad y temor. Había guerras entre los pueblos y entre las ciudades; nadie estaba tranquilo.
»Aun así, cuando nuestra gente estaba angustiada, se arrepentía y se acercaba a nuestro Dios. Él siempre los recibía. Por eso ahora les digo: Si ustedes le son fieles, él estará siempre con ustedes; cuando lo necesiten, podrán encontrarlo; pero si ustedes lo abandonan, él también los abandonará. 7 ¡Sean valientes, no dejen de obedecer a Dios, y él les dará su recompensa!»
8 Cuando Asá escuchó al profeta, tuvo el valor de destruir los horribles ídolos que había en todo el territorio de Judá y de Benjamín, y en las ciudades que había conquistado en la montaña de Efraín. Al mismo tiempo, reparó el altar de Dios que estaba frente a la entrada del templo.
9 Después Asá mandó llamar a toda la gente de las tribus de Judá y de Benjamín. Y como en su territorio vivían muchos de las tribus de Efraín, de Manasés y de Simeón, también ellos respondieron al llamado del rey. Éstos se habían unido a Asá porque se dieron cuenta de que Dios lo ayudaba en todo.
10 El mes de Siván[a] del año quince del reinado de Asá llegaron todos a Jerusalén, 11 y ese día le ofrendaron a Dios setecientas reses y siete mil ovejas, que antes le habían quitado a sus enemigos.
12-15 Fue entonces cuando hicieron un pacto y juraron en voz alta que con toda sinceridad se esforzarían en obedecer solamente al Dios de sus antepasados. También prometieron que quien no lo hiciera sería condenado a muerte, sin importar su edad o sexo.
Cuando terminaron el juramento, todo el pueblo de Judá se llenó de alegría. Festejaron con gritos de gozo y música de trompetas y cuernos, pues Dios los había aceptado. Y como Dios vio que el pueblo había sido sincero, los bendijo y les permitió vivir en paz con todos los pueblos vecinos.
16 Asá le quitó a su abuela Maacá su autoridad de reina madre, porque ella había hecho una imagen de la diosa Astarté. El rey Asá destruyó esa imagen y la quemó en el arroyo de Cedrón. 17 Y aunque no todos los pequeños templos de las colinas se destruyeron, Asá fue fiel a Dios durante toda su vida. 18 También llevó al templo todos los objetos de oro y plata que tanto él como su padre le habían prometido a Dios. 19 Y no hubo guerras hasta el año treinta y cinco del reinado de Asá.

Cult Reform. 1 The Spirit of God then came upon Azariah, the son of Oded. 2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him: “Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will permit you to find him, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you. 3 For a long time Israel was without a priest to impart teaching and without the law. 4 However, when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he allowed them to find him.
5 “In those times it was not safe for anyone to come or go, since all the inhabitants of the land were afflicted with massive disturbances, 6 with nations being crushed by other nations and cities by other cities, for God troubled them with every kind of distress. 7 But as for you, be strong and do not be discouraged, for your work shall be rewarded.”
8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah, the son of Oded the prophet, he became resolute in his courage and ordered the removal of the abominable idols throughout the land of Judah and Benjamin as well as from the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He also repaired the altar of the Lord which stood in the vestibule of the house of the Lord.
9 Then Asa assembled all the people of Judah and Benjamin, as well as those from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were residing among them, since great numbers of people from Israel had deserted to him when they came to realize that the Lord his God was with him. 10 All the people assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign. 11 On that day they sacrificed to the Lord seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from the plunder they had brought back. 12 After that, they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul, 13 while asserting that all those who refused to seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether young or old, whether man or woman.
14 Then all of them swore an oath to the Lord with a loud voice and shouts of joy, while the trumpets and the horns resounded. 15 All Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought the Lord with sincere desire. As a result, the Lord had allowed himself to be found by them, and he granted them peace on every side.
16 King Asa even removed his mother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made an obscene image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down, crushed it to powder, and burned it in the Kidron Valley. 17 Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa himself remained faithful throughout his life. 18 He brought into the house of God the votive gifts[a] of his father as well as his own votive gifts—silver, gold, and sacred vessels.
19 There was no further warfare until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
