ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਗੀਤ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਗੀਤ ਕੂਸ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੈ [a] ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਿਨਯਾਮਿਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਿਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।
7 ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉ।
2 ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾਵੇਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫ਼ੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਧੂਏ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦਾ।
3 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗਲਤ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
4 ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
5 ਜੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੋ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਿਉ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਉ।
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੱਬ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਧਣ ਦਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਉ।
6 ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਉੱਠੋ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਦਿਖਾਉ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉੱਠੋ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜੋ।
ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਉੱਠੋ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕਰੋ।
7 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੋ।
ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਿਉ।
8 ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੋ।
ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰੋ।
ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਕਸੂਰ ਹਾਂ।
9 ਮੰਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿਉ,
ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬਣੋ।
ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹੋ,
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਪਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋ।
10 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਨਿਸ਼ਕਪਟ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
11 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਹੀ ਨਿਆਂਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
12-13 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇੱਕ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ,
ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲਦਾ।
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੰਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸਦਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ।
14 ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਖੜੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਉਹ ਗੁਪਤ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ
15 ਉਹ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਸਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਵਣਗੇ।
16 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਉਹ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ।
ਉਹ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਾਲਮ ਸਨ।
ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲਤ ਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।
17 ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਅੱਤ ਉੱਚੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।

A (A)Shiggaion[a] of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.
7 O Lord my God, in you do I (B)take refuge;
(C)save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
2 lest like (D)a lion they tear my soul apart,
rending it in pieces, with (E)none to deliver.
3 O Lord my God, (F)if I have done this,
if there is (G)wrong in my hands,
4 if I have repaid (H)my friend[b] with evil
or (I)plundered my enemy without cause,
5 let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
and let him (J)trample my life to the ground
and lay my glory in the dust. Selah
6 (K)Arise, O Lord, in your anger;
(L)lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;
(M)awake for me; you have appointed a judgement.
7 Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you;
over it return on high.
8 The Lord (N)judges the peoples;
(O)judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness
and according to the integrity that is in me.
9 Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
and may you establish the righteous—

O righteous God!
10 My shield is (R)with God,
who saves (S)the upright in heart.
11 God is (T)a righteous judge,
and a God who feels (U)indignation every day.

13 he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,

14 Behold, the wicked man (AA)conceives evil

and gives birth to lies.

and falls into the hole that he has made.

17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,

The Lord Always Does Right
1 You, Lord God,
are my protector.
Rescue me and keep me safe
from all who chase me.
2 Or else they will rip me apart
like lions attacking a victim,
and no one will save me.
3 I am innocent, Lord God!
4 I have not betrayed a friend
or had pity on an enemy[b]
who attacks for no reason.
5 If I have done any of this,
then let my enemies
chase and capture me.
Let them trample me to death
and leave me in the dirt.
6 Get angry, Lord God!
Do something!
Attack my furious enemies.
See that justice is done.
7 Make the nations come to you,
as you sit on your throne[c]
above them all.
8 Our Lord, judge the nations!
Judge me and show that I
am honest and innocent.
9 (A) You know every heart and mind,
and you always do right.
Now make violent people stop,
but protect all of us
who obey you.
10 You, God, are my shield,
the protector of everyone
whose heart is right.
11 You see that justice is done,
and each day
you take revenge.
12 Whenever your enemies refuse
to change their ways,
you sharpen your sword
and string your bow.
13 Your deadly arrows are ready
with flaming tips.
14 An evil person is like a woman
about to give birth
to a hateful, deceitful,
and rebellious child.

then fall in it themselves.
16 The trouble they cause
comes back on them,
and their heads are crushed
by their own evil deeds.

and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue(F) me.
3 Lord my God, if I have done this
and there is guilt on my hands(G)—
4 if I have repaid my ally with evil
or without cause(H) have robbed my foe—
5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake(I) me;
