2 Изпитайте себе си, да! изпитайте, Народе безсрамни,

²Преди да влезе указът <в сила>, - (Денят минава като плява,) - Преди да ви сполети лютия гняв Господен, Преди да ви постигне денят на гнева Господен.

³Търсете Господа, всички кротки на земята, Които извършвате съдбите Му; Търсете правда, търсете кротост, Негли бъдете покрити в деня на гнева Господен.

⁴Защото Газа ще бъде оставена, И Аскалон ще бъде запустен; Ще изгонят Азот на пладне, И Акарон ще се изкорени.

⁵Горко на жителите на морските брегове, На Херетцкия народ! Словото Господно е против вас; И тебе, Ханаане, Филистимска земльо, Ще те погубя, та да няма <у тебе> жители.

⁶И морският бряг ще бъде селище с кладенци за овчари И огради за стада.

⁷И <това> крайморие ще бъде за останалите от Юдовия дом; Там ще пасат <стадата си>; В къщите на Аскалон ще лежат вечер; Защото Господ техният Бог ще ги посети И ще ги върне от плена им.

⁸Чух хулата на Моава, И укорите на амонците, С които хулеха людете Ми И горделиво нарушиха границата им.

⁹Затова <заклевам се> в живота Си казва Господ на Силите, Израилевият Бог, Моав непременно ще бъде като Содом, И амонците като Гомор, Място завладяно от коприви и солници, - вечна пустота; Останалите от людете Ми ще ги оберат, И оцелелите от народа Ми ще ги наследят.

¹⁰Това ще им стане поради гордостта им, Защото укориха людете на Господа на Силите И се надигаха против тях.

¹¹Господ ще бъде страшен за тях, Защото ще изнури всичките земни богове; И всичките острови на народите Ще Му се кланят, всеки от мястото си.

¹²И вие, етиопяни, Вие ще бъдете убити с меча Ми.

¹³Той ще простре ръката Си против север И ще погуби Асир Ще обърне Ниневия на пустота, На място безводно като пустинята.

Judah and Jerusalem Judged Along With the Nations

Judah Summoned to Repent

2 Gather together,^(A) gather yourselves together,
    you shameful^(B) nation,
²before the decree takes effect
    and that day passes like windblown chaff,^(C)
before the Lord’s fierce anger^(D)
    comes upon you,
before the day of the Lord’s wrath^(E)
    comes upon you.
³Seek^(F) the Lord, all you humble of the land,
    you who do what he commands.
Seek righteousness,^(G) seek humility;^(H)
    perhaps you will be sheltered^(I)
    on the day of the Lord’s anger.

Philistia

⁴Gaza^(J) will be abandoned
    and Ashkelon^(K) left in ruins.
At midday Ashdod will be emptied
    and Ekron uprooted.
⁵Woe to you who live by the sea,
    you Kerethite^(L) people;
the word of the Lord is against you,^(M)
    Canaan, land of the Philistines.
He says, “I will destroy you,
    and none will be left.”^(N)
⁶The land by the sea will become pastures
    having wells for shepherds
    and pens for flocks.^(O)
⁷That land will belong
    to the remnant^(P) of the people of Judah;
    there they will find pasture.
In the evening they will lie down
    in the houses of Ashkelon.
The Lord their God will care for them;
    he will restore their fortunes.^[a]^(Q)

Moab and Ammon

⁸“I have heard the insults^(R) of Moab^(S)
    and the taunts of the Ammonites,^(T)
who insulted^(U) my people
    and made threats against their land.^(V)
⁹Therefore, as surely as I live,”
    declares the Lord Almighty,
    the God of Israel,
“surely Moab^(W) will become like Sodom,^(X)
    the Ammonites^(Y) like Gomorrah—
a place of weeds and salt pits,
    a wasteland forever.
The remnant of my people will plunder^(Z) them;
    the survivors^(AA) of my nation will inherit their land.^(AB)”

¹⁰This is what they will get in return for their pride,^(AC)
    for insulting^(AD) and mocking
    the people of the Lord Almighty.^(AE)
¹¹The Lord will be awesome^(AF) to them
    when he destroys all the gods^(AG) of the earth.^(AH)
Distant nations will bow down to him,^(AI)
    all of them in their own lands.

Cush

¹²“You Cushites,^[b]^(AJ) too,
will be slain by my sword.^(AK)”

Assyria

¹³He will stretch out his hand against the north
    and destroy Assyria,^(AL)
leaving Nineveh^(AM) utterly desolate
    and dry as the desert.^(AN)
¹⁴Flocks and herds^(AO) will lie down there,
    creatures of every kind.
The desert owl^(AP) and the screech owl^(AQ)
    will roost on her columns.
Their hooting will echo through the windows,
    rubble will fill the doorways,
    the beams of cedar will be exposed.
¹⁵This is the city of revelry^(AR)
    that lived in safety.^(AS)
She said to herself,
    “I am the one! And there is none besides me.”^(AT)
What a ruin she has become,
    a lair for wild beasts!^(AU)
All who pass by her scoff^(AV)
    and shake their fists.^(AW)

²Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord’S anger come upon you.

³Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’S anger.

⁴¶ For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

⁵Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

⁶And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

⁷And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the Lord their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

⁸¶ I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

⁹Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.

¹⁰This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.

¹¹The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

¹²¶ Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

¹³And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

¹⁴And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.

¹⁵This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
