Йеремия пророкува в храма за отхвърлянето на Израил
7 Словото, което дойде към Йеремия от Господа:
2 (A)Застани в портата на дома Господен
и възгласи там това слово, като кажеш:
Слушайте словото Господне, всички юдеи,
които влизате през тези порти, за да се преклоните пред Господа.
3 (B)Така казва Господ на Силите, Израилевият Бог:
Поправете пътищата си и делата си
и Аз ще ви утвърдя на това място.
4 (C)Не уповавайте на лъжливи думи, за да казвате:
Храмът Господен, храмът Господен,
храмът Господен е това.
5 (D)Защото ако наистина поправите пътищата си и делата си,
ако съдите съвършено право между човека и ближния му,
6 (E)ако не угнетявате чужденеца, сирачето и вдовицата
и не проливате невинна кръв на това място,
нито следвате чужди богове за ваша вреда,
7 (F)тогава ще ви направя да живеете на това място,
в земята, която дадох на бащите ви отвека и довека.
8 (G)Ето, вие уповавате на лъжливи думи,
от които няма да се ползвате.
9 (H)Като крадете, убивате, прелюбодействате
и се кълнете лъжливо, и кадите на Ваал,
и следвате други богове, които не сте познавали,
10 (I)идвате ли после да стоите пред Мене в този дом,
който се нарича с Моето име,
и да казвате: Отървахме се, за да вършите всички тези мерзости?
11 (J)Този дом, който се нарича с Моето име,
вертеп за разбойници ли стана във вашите очи?
Ето, Аз сам видях това, казва Господ.
12 (K)Но идете сега на мястото Ми, което беше в Сило,
където в началото настаних името Си,
и вижте какво му сторих
поради злодеянието на народа Си Израил.
13 (L)И сега, понеже извършихте всички тези дела, казва Господ,
и Аз ви говорих, като ставах рано и говорих,
а вие не послушахте,
и ви виках, но не отговорихте;
14 (M)затова ще направя на дома, който се нарича с Моето име,
на който вие уповавате,
и на мястото, което дадох на вас и на бащите ви,
както направих на Сило.
15 (N)И ще ви отхвърля от лицето Си,
както отхвърлих всичките ви братя,
цялото Ефремово потомство.
16 (O)Затова ти недей се моли за този народ
и не възнасяй вик или молба за тях,
нито ходатайствай пред Мене;
защото няма да те послушам.
17 Не виждаш ли какво вършат те в Юдейските градове
и по йерусалимските улици? –
18 (P)Децата събират дърва и бащите кладат огъня,
а жените месят тестото,
за да направят пити на небесната царица
и да направят възлияния на други богове,
за да Ме разгневят.
19 (Q)Но Мене ли разгневяват? – казва Господ. –
Дали не разгневяват себе си за посрамване на своите лица?
20 Затова така казва Господ Йехова:
Ето, гневът Ми и яростта Ми ще се излеят на това място,
върху човек и животно,
върху полските дървета и земния плод;
и ще пламне, и няма да угасне.
21 (R)Така казва Господ на Силите, Израилевият Бог:
Прибавете всеизгарянията си към жертвите си
и яжте месото и от тях.
22 (S)Защото не говорих на бащите ви, нито им дадох заповеди
за всеизгаряния и жертви
в деня, когато ги изведох от Египетската земя;
23 (T)а това им заповядах:
Слушайте гласа Ми
и Аз ще ви бъда Бог,
и вие ще Ми бъдете народ!
И ходете по всички пътища, които ви заповядвам,
за да благоденствате.
24 (U)Те обаче не послушаха, нито преклониха ухото си,
а ходиха според намеренията и упоритостта
на своето нечестиво сърце
и отидоха назад, а не напред.
25 (V)От деня, когато бащите ви излязоха от Египетската земя, до днес
пращах всичките Си слуги, пророците, при вас,
като ставах рано всеки ден и ги пращах;
26 (W)те обаче не Ме послушаха, нито преклониха ухото си,
а закоравиха врата си;
постъпиха по-зле от бащите си.
27 (X)Затова говорѝ им всички тези думи,
но те няма да те послушат;
също извикай към тях,
но те няма да ти отговорят.
28 (Y)Тогава им кажи:
Този е народът, който не слуша гласа на Господа, своя Бог,
нито приема наставления;
честността изчезна и се изгуби от устата им.
29 (Z)Острижи косата си, дъще йерусалимска, и я хвърли,
и плачи със силен глас по голите височини;
защото Господ отхвърли и изостави поколението,
на което се разгневи.
30 (AA)Защото юдеите сториха това, което беше зло пред Мене, казва Господ;
поставиха мерзостите си в дома,
който се нарича с Моето име, и го оскверниха.
31 (AB)И издигнаха високите места на Тофет,
който е в долината на Еномовия син,
за да горят синовете и дъщерите си в огън –
нещо, което не съм заповядал, нито Ми е идвало на ум[a].
32 (AC)Затова, ето, идат дни, казва Господ,
когато няма да се нарича вече Тофет,
нито долина на Еномовия син,
а долина на клането;
защото ще погребват в Тофет, понеже няма да остане място другаде;
33 (AD)и труповете на този народ ще бъдат
храна за небесните птици и земните зверове
и няма да има кой да ги плаши.
34 (AE)Тогава ще направя да престане в Юдейските градове
и по йерусалимските улици
гласът на радостта и веселието,
гласът на младоженеца и невястата;
защото земята ще запустее.

7 Palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte del Señor, diciendo: 2 Párate a la puerta de la casa del Señor y proclama allí esta palabra, y di: «Oíd la palabra del Señor, todos los de Judá, los que entráis por estas puertas para adorar al Señor(A)». 3 Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Enmendad vuestros caminos y vuestras obras(B), y os haré morar en este lugar. 4 No confiéis en palabras engañosas(C), diciendo: «Este es[a] el templo del Señor, el templo del Señor, el templo del Señor». 5 Porque si en verdad enmendáis vuestros caminos y vuestras obras(D), si en verdad hacéis justicia entre el hombre y su prójimo(E), 6 y no oprimís al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda(F), ni derramáis sangre inocente en este lugar(G), ni andáis en pos de otros dioses para vuestra propia ruina(H), 7 entonces os haré morar en este lugar(I), en la tierra que di a vuestros padres para siempre(J).
8 He aquí, vosotros confiáis en palabras engañosas(K) que no aprovechan, 9 para robar, matar, cometer adulterio, jurar falsamente, ofrecer sacrificios[b] a Baal(L) y andar en pos de otros dioses que no habíais conocido(M). 10 ¿Vendréis luego y os pondréis delante de mí(N) en esta casa, que es llamada por mi nombre, y diréis: «Ya estamos salvos»; para luego seguir haciendo todas estas abominaciones(O)? 11 ¿Se ha convertido esta casa(P), que es llamada por mi nombre, en cueva de ladrones delante de vuestros ojos(Q)? He aquí, yo mismo lo he visto(R) —declara el Señor.
12 Ahora pues, id a mi lugar en Silo(S), donde al principio hice morar mi nombre(T), y ved lo que hice con él a causa de la maldad de mi pueblo Israel(U). 13 Y ahora, por cuanto habéis hecho todas estas obras —declara el Señor— y a pesar de que os hablé desde temprano y hablando sin cesar(V), no oísteis; os llamé, pero no respondisteis(W), 14 haré con la casa que es llamada por mi nombre(X), en la cual confiáis(Y), y al lugar que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres, como hice con Silo(Z). 15 Y os echaré de mi presencia(AA), como eché a todos vuestros hermanos, a toda la descendencia[c] de Efraín(AB).
Abominación y castigo
16 En cuanto a ti, no ruegues por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración, ni intercedas ante mí, porque no te oiré(AC). 17 ¿No ves lo que ellos hacen en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén? 18 Los hijos recogen la leña, los padres encienden el fuego, las mujeres preparan[d] la masa para hacer tortas a la reina del cielo, y derraman[e] libaciones a otros dioses(AD) para ofenderme(AE). 19 ¿Me ofenden a mí(AF)? —declara el Señor— ¿No es a sí mismos que se ofenden para su propia vergüenza[f](AG)? 20 Por tanto, así dice el Señor Dios[g]: He aquí, mi ira y mi furor serán derramados sobre este lugar(AH), sobre los hombres y sobre los animales, sobre los árboles del campo y sobre el fruto de la tierra; arderá(AI) y no se apagará.
21 Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Añadid vuestros holocaustos a vuestros sacrificios(AJ) y comed la carne(AK). 22 Porque yo no hablé a vuestros padres, ni les ordené nada en cuanto a los holocaustos y sacrificios(AL), el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto. 23 Sino que esto es lo[h] que les mandé, diciendo: «Escuchad mi voz(AM) y yo seré vuestro Dios y vosotros seréis mi pueblo(AN), y andaréis en todo camino que yo os envíe para que os vaya bien(AO)». 24 Mas ellos no escucharon ni inclinaron su oído, sino que anduvieron en sus propias deliberaciones y en la terquedad de su malvado corazón(AP), y fueron[i] hacia atrás(AQ) y no hacia adelante. 25 Desde el día que vuestros padres salieron de la tierra de Egipto hasta hoy, os he enviado a todos mis siervos los profetas, madrugando cada día y enviándolos(AR). 26 Pero no me escucharon ni inclinaron su oído, sino que endurecieron su cerviz(AS) e hicieron peor que sus padres(AT).
27 Les dirás, pues, todas estas palabras(AU), mas no te escucharán; los llamarás, y no te responderán(AV). 28 Entonces les dirás: «Esta es la nación que no escuchó la voz del Señor su Dios(AW), ni aceptó corrección; ha perecido la verdad[j](AX), ha sido cortada de su boca.
29 Córtate el cabello[k](AY) y tíralo,
y entona una endecha en las alturas(AZ) desoladas;
porque el Señor ha desechado(BA) y abandonado
a la generación objeto de su furor».
30 Porque los hijos de Judá han hecho lo que es malo ante mis ojos —declara el Señor—, han puesto sus abominaciones en la casa que es llamada por mi nombre, profanándola(BB). 31 Y han edificado los lugares altos de Tofet, que está en el valle de Ben-hinom(BC), para quemar a sus hijos y a sus hijas en el fuego(BD), lo cual yo no mandé(BE), ni me pasó por la mente[l]. 32 Por tanto, he aquí vienen días —declara el Señor— cuando no se dirá más Tofet, ni valle de Ben-hinom, sino el valle de la Matanza(BF); porque enterrarán en Tofet(BG) por no haber otro[m] lugar. 33 Y los cadáveres de este pueblo servirán de comida para las aves del cielo y para las bestias de la tierra, sin que nadie las espante(BH). 34 Entonces haré cesar de las ciudades de Judá y de las calles de Jerusalén la voz de gozo y la voz de alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia(BI); porque la tierra quedará desolada(BJ).

7 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Stand(A) at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:
“‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. 3 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways(B) and your actions, and I will let you live(C) in this place. 4 Do not trust(D) in deceptive(E) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!” 5 If you really change(F) your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,(G) 6 if you do not oppress(H) the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood(I) in this place, and if you do not follow other gods(J) to your own harm, 7 then I will let you live in this place, in the land(K) I gave your ancestors(L) for ever and ever. 8 But look, you are trusting(M) in deceptive(N) words that are worthless.
9 “‘Will you steal(O) and murder,(P) commit adultery(Q) and perjury,[a](R) burn incense to Baal(S) and follow other gods(T) you have not known, 10 and then come and stand(U) before me in this house,(V) which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?(W) 11 Has this house,(X) which bears my Name, become a den of robbers(Y) to you? But I have been watching!(Z) declares the Lord.
12 “‘Go now to the place in Shiloh(AA) where I first made a dwelling(AB) for my Name,(AC) and see what I did(AD) to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. 13 While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke(AE) to you again and again,(AF) but you did not listen;(AG) I called(AH) you, but you did not answer.(AI) 14 Therefore, what I did to Shiloh(AJ) I will now do to the house that bears my Name,(AK) the temple(AL) you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors. 15 I will thrust you from my presence,(AM) just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.’(AN)
16 “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea(AO) or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen(AP) to you. 17 Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven.(AQ) They pour out drink offerings(AR) to other gods to arouse(AS) my anger. 19 But am I the one they are provoking?(AT) declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?(AU)
20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign(AV) Lord says: My anger(AW) and my wrath will be poured(AX) out on this place—on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land—and it will burn and not be quenched.(AY)
21 “‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices(AZ) and eat(BA) the meat yourselves! 22 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands(BB) about burnt offerings and sacrifices,(BC) 23 but I gave them this command:(BD) Obey(BE) me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.(BF) Walk in obedience to all(BG) I command you, that it may go well(BH) with you. 24 But they did not listen(BI) or pay attention;(BJ) instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts.(BK) They went backward(BL) and not forward. 25 From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again(BM) I sent you my servants(BN) the prophets.(BO) 26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention.(BP) They were stiff-necked(BQ) and did more evil than their ancestors.’(BR)
27 “When you tell(BS) them all this, they will not listen(BT) to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.(BU) 28 Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction.(BV) Truth(BW) has perished; it has vanished from their lips.
29 “‘Cut off(BX) your hair and throw it away; take up a lament(BY) on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned(BZ) this generation that is under his wrath.
The Valley of Slaughter
30 “‘The people of Judah have done evil(CA) in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols(CB) in the house that bears my Name and have defiled(CC) it. 31 They have built the high places of Topheth(CD) in the Valley of Ben Hinnom(CE) to burn their sons and daughters(CF) in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.(CG) 32 So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter,(CH) for they will bury(CI) the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 33 Then the carcasses(CJ) of this people will become food(CK) for the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away.(CL) 34 I will bring an end to the sounds(CM) of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom(CN) in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem,(CO) for the land will become desolate.(CP)
