10 На третий год правления Кира, царя Персии (в 537 г. до н. э.), Даниялу (называемому также Валтасисаром) было дано откровение. Его весть истинна и относится к великой войне[a]. Понимание вести было дано ему в видении.
2 В то время я, Даниял, скорбел в течение трёх недель[b]. 3 Я не ел вкусной пищи, мясо и вино не касались моих губ, и я совсем не умащался благовонными маслами, пока не прошли три недели.
4 На двадцать четвёртый день первого месяца (23 апреля 536 г. до н. э.), когда я стоял на берегу великой реки Тигра, 5 я поднял глаза и увидел: стоит некто в льняных одеждах, с поясом из уфазского золота. 6 Его тело было как хризолит, лицо – как молния, глаза – как пламенеющие факелы, руки и ноги – как блестящая латунь, а голос – как шум от множества людей.
7 Я, Даниял, был единственным, кто видел это видение; люди, бывшие со мной, не видели его, но их охватил такой ужас, что они убежали и попрятались. 8 Я остался один и смотрел на это великое видение. Во мне не осталось сил, моё лицо смертельно побледнело, и я ослабел. 9 Затем я услышал, как он говорит, и, слушая его, упал в глубокий обморок, лицом на землю.
10 Но рука прикоснулась ко мне и поставила меня, дрожащего, на четвереньки.
11 Он сказал:
– Даниял, любимый Богом, вникни в слова, которые я тебе скажу, и встань, потому что я послан сейчас к тебе.
Когда он сказал мне это, я, дрожа, встал. 12 Тогда он продолжил:
– Не бойся, Даниял. С самого первого дня, когда ты решил обрести понимание и смирить себя перед твоим Богом, твои слова были услышаны, и по твоим словам пришёл я. 13 Но ангел-покровитель Персидского царства противостоял мне двадцать один день, и Микаил, один из верховных ангелов, пришёл мне на помощь; я оставался[c] там с ангелом-покровителем Персидского царства. 14 А теперь я пришёл, чтобы объяснить тебе то, что произойдёт с твоим народом в будущем, потому что видение относится ко времени, которое ещё лишь грядёт.
15 Когда он говорил мне это, я припал лицом к земле и был безмолвен. 16 Тогда некто в облике человека прикоснулся к моим губам, и я открыл рот и начал говорить. Я сказал тому, кто стоял передо мной:
– Мой господин, от этого видения меня охватила такая скорбь, что во мне не осталось сил. 17 Как же мне, твоему рабу, говорить с тобой, мой господин? Во мне нет сил, и я едва дышу.
18 И снова тот, кто был похож на человека, прикоснулся ко мне и придал мне сил.
19 – Не бойся, любимый Богом, – сказал он. – Мир тебе! Мужайся, мужайся.
Когда он говорил со мной, я укрепился и сказал:
– Говори, мой господин, потому что ты придал мне сил.
20 И он сказал:
– Знаешь, почему я пришёл к тебе? Скоро я возвращусь, чтобы воевать с ангелом-покровителем Персии, и когда я возьму над ним верх, придёт ангел-покровитель Греции. 21 Но сначала я скажу тебе то, что написано в книге истины. (Никто не поддерживает меня против них, кроме Микаила, вашего ангела-покровителя.

10 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

10 En el año tercero de Ciro, rey de Persia, un mensaje[a] fue revelado a Daniel(A), a quien llamaban Beltsasar(B). El mensaje[b] era verdadero y acerca de un gran conflicto[c]; él comprendió el mensaje[d] y tuvo entendimiento de la visión(C). 2 En aquellos días, yo, Daniel, había estado en duelo(D) durante tres semanas completas. 3 No comí manjar delicado[e] ni entró en mi boca carne ni vino(E), ni usé ungüento alguno, hasta que se cumplieron las tres semanas. 4 Y el día veinticuatro del primer mes, estando yo junto a la orilla del gran río(F), es decir, el Tigris[f], 5 alcé los ojos y miré, y he aquí, había un hombre vestido de lino(G), cuya cintura estaba ceñida con un cinturón de oro(H) puro de Ufaz(I). 6 Su cuerpo era como de berilo[g], su rostro tenía[h] la apariencia de un relámpago, sus ojos eran como antorchas de fuego, sus brazos y pies como el brillo del bronce bruñido(J), y el sonido de sus palabras como el estruendo de una multitud. 7 Y solo yo, Daniel, vi la visión(K); los hombres que estaban conmigo no vieron la visión(L), pero un gran terror(M) cayó sobre ellos y huyeron a esconderse. 8 Me quedé solo(N) viendo esta gran visión; no me quedaron fuerzas, y mi rostro[i] se demudó, desfigurándose(O), sin retener yo fuerza alguna. 9 Pero oí el sonido de sus palabras, y al oír el sonido de sus palabras, caí en un sueño profundo sobre mi rostro, con mi rostro en tierra(P).
10 Entonces, he aquí, una mano me tocó(Q), y me hizo temblar sobre mis rodillas y sobre las palmas de mis manos. 11 Y me dijo: Daniel, hombre muy estimado[j](R), entiende(S) las palabras que te voy a decir y ponte en pie[k](T), porque ahora he sido enviado a ti. Cuando él me dijo estas palabras, me puse en pie temblando(U). 12 Entonces me dijo: No temas(V), Daniel, porque desde el primer día en que te propusiste en tu corazón entender y humillarte delante de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras, y a causa de tus palabras he venido(W). 13 Mas el príncipe del reino de Persia se me opuso[l] por veintiún días, pero he aquí, Miguel, uno de los primeros príncipes(X), vino en mi ayuda, ya que yo había sido dejado allí con los reyes de Persia. 14 Y he venido para darte a conocer(Y) lo que sucederá a tu pueblo al final de los días(Z), porque la visión es para días aún lejanos(AA). 15 Cuando habló conmigo estas palabras, volví[m] mi rostro a tierra y enmudecí(AB). 16 Y he aquí, uno semejante a un hombre[n](AC) tocó mis labios; entonces abrí mi boca y hablé(AD), y dije al que estaba delante de mí: Señor mío, a causa de la visión me ha invadido la angustia[o] y me he quedado sin fuerzas(AE). 17 ¿Cómo podrá, pues, este siervo de mi señor hablar con uno como mi señor(AF)? Porque a mí en este momento no me queda fuerza alguna, ni tampoco me queda aliento(AG).
18 Entonces el que tenía semejanza de hombre me tocó otra vez y me fortaleció(AH), 19 y me dijo: No temas, hombre muy estimado[p]. La paz sea contigo[q](AI); sé fuerte y esfuérzate(AJ). Cuando habló conmigo, recobré las fuerzas, y dije: Hable mi señor, porque me has fortalecido(AK). 20 Entonces él dijo: ¿Sabes por qué he venido a ti? Ahora vuelvo para luchar contra el príncipe[r] de Persia, y cuando yo termine[s], he aquí, el príncipe[t] de Grecia[u](AL) vendrá. 21 Sin embargo, te declararé lo que está inscrito en el libro de la verdad, pero no hay nadie que se mantenga firme a mi lado[v](AM) contra estas fuerzas, sino Miguel, vuestro príncipe(AN).

Daniel’s Vision of a Man
10 In the third year of Cyrus(A) king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar).(B) Its message was true(C) and it concerned a great war.[a] The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.
2 At that time I, Daniel, mourned(D) for three weeks. 3 I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips;(E) and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank(F) of the great river, the Tigris,(G) 5 I looked up(H) and there before me was a man dressed in linen,(I) with a belt of fine gold(J) from Uphaz around his waist. 6 His body was like topaz,(K) his face like lightning,(L) his eyes like flaming torches,(M) his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze,(N) and his voice(O) like the sound of a multitude.
7 I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it,(P) but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves. 8 So I was left alone,(Q) gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left,(R) my face turned deathly pale(S) and I was helpless.(T) 9 Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.(U)
10 A hand touched me(V) and set me trembling on my hands and knees.(W) 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed,(X) consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up,(Y) for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid,(Z) Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble(AA) yourself before your God, your words(AB) were heard, and I have come in response to them.(AC) 13 But the prince(AD) of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael,(AE) one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain(AF) to you what will happen to your people in the future,(AG) for the vision concerns a time yet to come.(AH)”
15 While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.(AI) 16 Then one who looked like a man[b] touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.(AJ) I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish(AK) because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. 17 How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”(AL)
18 Again the one who looked like a man touched(AM) me and gave me strength.(AN) 19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,”(AO) he said. “Peace!(AP) Be strong now; be strong.”(AQ)
When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”(AR)
20 So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece(AS) will come; 21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth.(AT) (No one supports me against them except Michael,(AU) your prince.
