Пророштво о Моаву
48 Овако каже ГОСПОД над војскама, Бог Израелов, за Моав:
»Тешко гори Нево, јер је опустошена.
Кирјатајим је извргнут срамоти и освојен,
високо утврђење извргнуто срамоти и срушено.
2 Више нико неће хвалити Моав.
У Хешбону ће му сковати несрећу:
‚Хајде да докрајчимо тај народ.‘
И ти ћеш умукнути, Мадмене,
и на тебе ће доћи мач.
3 Из Хоронајима се чују повици:
‚Насиље! Пропаст велика!
4 Моав је скршен!‘
Вриште малишани његови.
5 Уз Лухит се пењу,
горко плачући.
Низ пут ка Хоронајиму
разлежу се јауци због пропасти.
6 Бежите! Спасавајте живот!
Трчите као магаре пустињско!
7 Пошто се уздаш у своја дела и богатство,
и ти ћеш бити освојен.
Кемош ће у изгнанство
са својим свештеницима и службеницима.
8 Уништитељ ће доћи на сваки град,
ниједан град му неће измаћи.
Долина ће бити разорена,
висораван опустошена
као што каже ГОСПОД.
9 Дигните надгробни споменик Моаву,
јер ће бити опустошен.
Опустеће му градови,
нико неће становати у њима.
10 »Проклет био ко немарно обавља посао ГОСПОДЊИ! Проклет био ко свој мач не натопи крвљу!
11 »Моав је од своје младости био на миру,
као вино остављено на дрозги,
из бачве у бачву непретакано.
Није ишао у изгнанство,
па му је укус као пре
и мирис му непромењен.
12 »Али, ево, долазе дани«, говори ГОСПОД, »када ћу послати оне који истачу, и они ће га источити. Испразниће му бачве и поразбијати врчеве. 13 Тада ће се Моав постидети због Кемоша као што се израелски народ постидео што се уздао у Бетел.
14 »Како можете да кажете:
‚Ми смо ратници, храбри у боју‘?
15 Моав ће бити опустошен,
а његови градови освојени.
Његови младићи пашће у покољу«,
говори Цар, чије име је ГОСПОД над војскама.
16 »Примиче се невоља Моавова,

20 ‚Моав је извргнут срамоти,
јер је скршен.
Закукајте и заплачите.
Објавите покрај Арнона
да је Моав опустошен.‘
21 »Суд стиже на висораван – Холону, Јахци и Мефаату, 22 Дивону, Неву и Бет-Дивлатајими, 23 Кирјатајиму, Бет-Гамулу и Бет-Меону, 24 Керијоту и Боцри – свим моавским градовима, близу и далеко. 25 Сломљена је Моавова моћ и скршена његова снага«, говори ГОСПОД.
26 »Опијте Моав,
јер хтеде да буде већи од ГОСПОДА.
Нека се ваља у својој бљувотини,
да му се смеју.
27 Зар се ти, Моаве, ниси смејао Израелу?
Зар је Израел затечен међу крадљивцима,
па одмахујеш главом
кад год га поменеш?
28 Оставите своје градове, житељи Моава,
и настаните се међу стенама.
Будите као голуб,
који своје гнездо свија на улазу пећине.
29 »Чули смо за Моавову охолост –
његову охолост превелику и умишљеност,
његову бахату охолост и надменост.
30 Знам његову бахатост,
али на лажи је заснована«,
говори ГОСПОД,
»и лаж су његова хвалисања.
31 Зато над Моавом кукам
и над свим Моавцима плачем,
због људи Кир-Хереса јецам.
32 Плачем због вас, лозе Сивме,
као што плаче Јаазер.
Розге су вам се пружале све до мора,
досезале до мора Јаазера.
Уништитељ се обори
на ваше летње плодове и грожђе.
33 Нестаде радости и клицања
из воћњака и са моавских њива.
Учиних да вино више не тече из муљача.
Никог више нема да гази грожђе
уз радосне повике.
»Повици се чују, али нису радосни.
34 »Запомагање из Хешбона и Елала чује се до Јахаца, од Цоара па све до Хоронајима и Еглат-Шелишије, јер су пресахнуле и воде Нимрима. 35 Учинићу«, говори ГОСПОД, »да се у Моаву више не приносе жртве на узвишицама и пали кâд њиховим боговима.
36 »Срце ми као фрула јечи за Моавом,
као фрула јечи за људима Кир-Харесета.
Нестаде богатство које су стекли.
37 »Свака је глава обријана и свака брада одсечена, по свим рукама урези, око свих бокова кострет. 38 По свим крововима у Моаву и на његовим трговима само оплакивање, јер сам разбио Моав као крчаг који нико неће«, говори ГОСПОД. 39 »Викаће: ‚Како је скршен Моав! Како постиђен окреће леђа!‘ Моав постаде предмет подсмеха и ужасавања свим својим суседима.«
40 Овако каже ГОСПОД:
»Ено, лети као орао
и шири крила над Моавом.
41 Градови ће бити заузети
и тврђаве освојене.
Тога дана ће срце моавских ратника
бити као срце жене у трудовима.
42 Моав ће бити затрт као народ,
јер хтеде да буде већи од ГОСПОДА.
43 Чека те ужас, јама и замка,
народе моавски«,
говори ГОСПОД.
44 »Ко умакне ужасу,
упашће у јаму.
Ко се испентра из јаме,
ухватиће се у замку.
Јер, ја ћу на Моав довести
годину његове казне«,
говори ГОСПОД.
45 »У сенци Хешбона
стоје избеглице, исцрпљене.
Јер, огањ изађе из Хешбона,
пламен из палате Сихонове,
и прождире чела Моаваца
и лобање народа галамџијског.
46 Тешко теби, Моаве!
Нестаде народ Кемошев.
Синове ти одведоше у изгнанство,
кћери у сужањство.
47 Али у будућим данима
вратићу благостање Моаву«,
говори ГОСПОД.
Овде завршава суд над Моавом.

48 Así dice el Señor de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, acerca de Moab:
«¡Ay de Nebo, porque será devastada!
¡Quiriatayin será capturada y puesta en vergüenza!
¡Su fortaleza[a] será humillada y destruida!
2 La gloria de Moab ha desaparecido;
en Hesbón[b] maquinan el mal contra ella:
“¡Vengan, hagamos desaparecer a esta nación!”.
También tú, Madmén,[c] serás silenciada,
y la espada te perseguirá.
3 Se oye el clamor desde Joronayin:
¡devastación y gran destrucción!
4 Moab será quebrantada;
ya se oyen los gritos de sus pequeños.
5 Por la cuesta de Luhit
suben llorando sin cesar;
por la bajada de Joronayin
se oyen gritos de dolor, por causa de la destrucción.
6 ¡Huyan! ¡Sálvese quien pueda!
¡Sean como las zarzas[d] del desierto!
7 Por cuanto confías en tus obras y en tus riquezas,
también tú serás capturada.
Quemós, tu dios, irá al exilio,
junto con sus sacerdotes y oficiales.
8 El destructor vendrá contra toda ciudad
y ni una sola de ellas escapará.
El valle quedará en ruinas,
y la meseta quedará destruida,
tal como lo ha dicho el Señor.
9 Coloquen sal[e] sobre Moab,
pues será dejada en ruinas;
sus ciudades están desoladas
y sin habitante alguno.
10 »¡Maldito el que sea negligente para realizar el trabajo del Señor!
¡Maldito el que de la sangre retraiga su espada!
11 »Moab ha vivido en paz desde su juventud;
ha reposado como el vino.
No ha pasado de vasija en vasija
ni ha ido jamás al exilio.
Por eso conserva su sabor
y no pierde su aroma.
12 Pero vienen días», afirma el Señor,
«en que enviaré gente que moverá a Moab;
vaciará sus vasijas y romperá sus cántaros.
13 Entonces Moab se avergonzará de Quemós,
como Israel se avergonzó de Betel en quien confiaba.
14 »¿Cómo se atreven a decir:
“Somos guerreros,
hombres valientes para la guerra”?
15 Moab será devastada
y sus ciudades, invadidas»,
afirma el Rey,
cuyo nombre es el Señor de los Ejércitos.
«Lo mejor de su juventud
descenderá al matadero.
16 La ruina de Moab se acerca;
su calamidad es inminente.
17 Lloren por él todos sus vecinos,
los que saben de su fama.
Digan: “¡Cómo se ha quebrado la vara de mando
tan poderosa e imponente!”.
18 »Tú, que habitas en Dibón:
desciende de tu lugar de honor
y siéntate en el sequedal,
porque el destructor de Moab te ataca
y destruye tus fortificaciones.
19 Tú, que habitas en Aroer,
párate a la vera del camino y observa;
pregunta a los que huyen, hombres y mujeres:
“¿Qué es lo que ha sucedido?”.
20 Moab está humillado;
ha sido destrozado.
¡Giman y clamen!
¡Anuncien por el río Arnón
que Moab ha sido devastado!
21 El juicio ha llegado hasta la meseta
contra Holón, Yahaza y Mefat;
22 contra Dibón, Nebo y Bet Diblatayin;
23 contra Quiriatayin, Bet Gamul y Bet Megón,
24 contra Queriot, Bosra,
y contra todas las ciudades de Moab, cercanas y lejanas.
25 El poder[f] de Moab ha desaparecido;
¡su fuerza está abatida!»,
afirma el Señor.
26 «¡Emborrachen a Moab,
porque ha desafiado al Señor!
¡Que se revuelque en su vómito,
y se convierta en objeto de burla!
27 ¿Acaso no te burlabas de Israel,
y con tus palabras lo despreciabas,
como si hubiera sido sorprendido entre ladrones?
28 Habitantes de Moab,
¡abandonen las ciudades
y vivan entre las rocas!
Sean como las palomas
que anidan al borde de los precipicios.
29 »Conocemos bien el orgullo de Moab,
ese orgullo exagerado.
¡Tanta soberbia y tanto orgullo!
¡Tanta arrogancia y altivez!
30 Yo conozco su arrogancia,
pero sus jactancias no logran nada»,
afirma el Señor.
31 «Por eso lloro por Moab;
gimo por toda su gente,
sollozo por el pueblo de Quir Jeres.
32 Lloro por ti, viña de Sibmá,
más que por Jazer;
tus ramas sobrepasan el mar
y llegan hasta Jazer,
pero caerá el destructor
sobre tu cosecha y sobre tu vendimia.
33 De los fértiles campos de Moab
han desaparecido el gozo y la alegría.
Acabé con el vino de tus lagares;
ya nadie pisa las uvas entre gritos de alborozo;
los gritos ya no son de regocijo.
34 »El clamor de Hesbón llega hasta Elalé y Yahaza,
su voz se alza desde Zoar hasta Joronayin y Eglat Selisiyá.
Porque hasta las aguas de Nimrín
se han secado.
35 Acabaré con la gente de Moab
que ofrece sacrificios en altares paganos
y quema incienso a sus dioses»,
afirma el Señor.
36 «Por eso, con sonido de flautas gime por Moab mi corazón;
con sonido de flautas gime mi corazón por Quir Jeres,
porque han desaparecido las riquezas que acumularon.
37 Toda cabeza está rapada
y toda barba rasurada;
en todas las manos hay incisiones,
y todos están vestidos de luto.
38 Sobre todos los techos de Moab,
y por todas sus plazas,
solo se escuchan lamentos;
porque rompí en pedazos a Moab
como a una vasija desechada»,
afirma el Señor.
39 «¡Cómo quedó hecha pedazos!
¡Cómo gimen!
Moab ha vuelto la espalda del todo avergonzada.
Es para todos sus vecinos objeto de burla y de terror».
40 Así dice el Señor:
«¡Miren! Vuela el enemigo como águila;
sobre Moab despliega sus alas.
41 Sus ciudades serán capturadas
y conquistadas sus fortalezas.
En aquel día, el corazón de los guerreros de Moab
será como el de una parturienta.
42 Moab será destruida como nación,
porque ha desafiado al Señor.
43 El terror, la fosa y la trampa
aguardan al habitante de Moab»,
afirma el Señor.
44 «El que huya del terror caerá en la fosa;
el que salga de la fosa caerá en la trampa;
porque yo hago venir sobre Moab
el tiempo de su castigo»,
afirma el Señor.
45 «A la sombra de Hesbón
se detienen exhaustos los fugitivos.
De Hesbón sale un fuego;
de la ciudad de Sijón, una llama
que consume las sienes de Moab
y el cráneo de los arrogantes y revoltosos.
46 ¡Ay de ti, Moab!
El pueblo de Quemós está destruido;
tus hijos son llevados al exilio;
tus hijas, al cautiverio.
47 »Pero en los días venideros
yo restauraré la fortuna de Moab»,
afirma el Señor.
Aquí concluye el juicio contra Moab.

A Message About Moab(A)
48 Concerning Moab:(B)
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:
“Woe to Nebo,(C) for it will be ruined.
Kiriathaim(D) will be disgraced and captured;
the stronghold[a] will be disgraced and shattered.
2 Moab will be praised(E) no more;
in Heshbon[b](F) people will plot her downfall:
‘Come, let us put an end to that nation.’(G)
You, the people of Madmen,[c] will also be silenced;
the sword will pursue you.
3 Cries of anguish arise from Horonaim,(H)
cries of great havoc and destruction.
4 Moab will be broken;
her little ones will cry out.[d]
5 They go up the hill to Luhith,(I)
weeping bitterly as they go;
on the road down to Horonaim(J)
anguished cries over the destruction are heard.
6 Flee!(K) Run for your lives;
become like a bush[e] in the desert.(L)
7 Since you trust in your deeds and riches,(M)
you too will be taken captive,
and Chemosh(N) will go into exile,(O)
together with his priests and officials.(P)
8 The destroyer(Q) will come against every town,
and not a town will escape.
The valley will be ruined
and the plateau(R) destroyed,
because the Lord has spoken.
9 Put salt(S) on Moab,
for she will be laid waste[f];(T)
her towns will become desolate,
with no one to live in them.
10 “A curse on anyone who is lax in doing the Lord’s work!
A curse on anyone who keeps their sword(U) from bloodshed!(V)
11 “Moab has been at rest(W) from youth,
like wine left on its dregs,(X)
not poured from one jar to another—
she has not gone into exile.
So she tastes as she did,
and her aroma is unchanged.
12 But days are coming,”
declares the Lord,
“when I will send men who pour from pitchers,
and they will pour her out;
they will empty her pitchers
and smash her jars.
13 Then Moab will be ashamed(Y) of Chemosh,(Z)
as Israel was ashamed
when they trusted in Bethel.(AA)
14 “How can you say, ‘We are warriors,(AB)
men valiant in battle’?
15 Moab will be destroyed and her towns invaded;
her finest young men(AC) will go down in the slaughter,(AD)”
declares the King,(AE) whose name is the Lord Almighty.(AF)
16 “The fall of Moab is at hand;(AG)
her calamity will come quickly.
17 Mourn for her, all who live around her,
all who know her fame;(AH)
say, ‘How broken is the mighty scepter,(AI)
how broken the glorious staff!’
18 “Come down from your glory
and sit on the parched ground,(AJ)
you inhabitants of Daughter Dibon,(AK)
for the one who destroys Moab
will come up against you
and ruin your fortified cities.(AL)
19 Stand by the road and watch,
you who live in Aroer.(AM)
Ask the man fleeing and the woman escaping,
ask them, ‘What has happened?’
20 Moab is disgraced, for she is shattered.
Wail(AN) and cry out!
Announce by the Arnon(AO)
that Moab is destroyed.
21 Judgment has come to the plateau(AP)—
to Holon,(AQ) Jahzah(AR) and Mephaath,(AS)
22 to Dibon,(AT) Nebo(AU) and Beth Diblathaim,
23 to Kiriathaim,(AV) Beth Gamul and Beth Meon,(AW)
24 to Kerioth(AX) and Bozrah(AY)—
to all the towns(AZ) of Moab, far and near.
25 Moab’s horn[g](BA) is cut off;
her arm(BB) is broken,”
declares the Lord.
26 “Make her drunk,(BC)
for she has defied(BD) the Lord.
Let Moab wallow in her vomit;(BE)
let her be an object of ridicule.(BF)
27 Was not Israel the object of your ridicule?(BG)
Was she caught among thieves,(BH)
that you shake your head(BI) in scorn(BJ)
whenever you speak of her?
28 Abandon your towns and dwell among the rocks,
you who live in Moab.
Be like a dove(BK) that makes its nest
at the mouth of a cave.(BL)
29 “We have heard of Moab’s pride(BM)—
how great is her arrogance!—
of her insolence, her pride, her conceit
and the haughtiness(BN) of her heart.
30 I know her insolence but it is futile,”
declares the Lord,
“and her boasts(BO) accomplish nothing.
31 Therefore I wail(BP) over Moab,
for all Moab I cry out,
I moan for the people of Kir Hareseth.(BQ)
32 I weep for you, as Jazer(BR) weeps,
you vines of Sibmah.(BS)
Your branches spread as far as the sea[h];
they reached as far as[i] Jazer.
The destroyer has fallen
on your ripened fruit and grapes.
33 Joy and gladness are gone
from the orchards and fields of Moab.
I have stopped the flow of wine(BT) from the presses;
no one treads them with shouts of joy.(BU)
Although there are shouts,
they are not shouts of joy.
34 “The sound of their cry rises
from Heshbon(BV) to Elealeh(BW) and Jahaz,(BX)
from Zoar(BY) as far as Horonaim(BZ) and Eglath Shelishiyah,
for even the waters of Nimrim are dried up.(CA)
35 In Moab I will put an end
to those who make offerings on the high places(CB)
and burn incense(CC) to their gods,”
declares the Lord.
36 “So my heart laments(CD) for Moab like the music of a pipe;
it laments like a pipe for the people of Kir Hareseth.(CE)
The wealth they acquired(CF) is gone.
37 Every head is shaved(CG)
and every beard(CH) cut off;
every hand is slashed
and every waist is covered with sackcloth.(CI)
38 On all the roofs in Moab
and in the public squares(CJ)
there is nothing but mourning,
for I have broken Moab
like a jar(CK) that no one wants,”
declares the Lord.
39 “How shattered(CL) she is! How they wail!
How Moab turns her back in shame!
Moab has become an object of ridicule,(CM)
an object of horror to all those around her.”
40 This is what the Lord says:
“Look! An eagle is swooping(CN) down,
spreading its wings(CO) over Moab.
41 Kerioth[j](CP) will be captured
and the strongholds taken.
In that day the hearts of Moab’s warriors(CQ)
will be like the heart of a woman in labor.(CR)
42 Moab will be destroyed(CS) as a nation(CT)
because she defied(CU) the Lord.
43 Terror(CV) and pit and snare(CW) await you,
you people of Moab,”
declares the Lord.
44 “Whoever flees(CX) from the terror
will fall into a pit,
whoever climbs out of the pit
will be caught in a snare;
for I will bring on Moab
the year(CY) of her punishment,”
declares the Lord.
45 “In the shadow of Heshbon
the fugitives stand helpless,
for a fire has gone out from Heshbon,
a blaze from the midst of Sihon;(CZ)
it burns the foreheads of Moab,
the skulls(DA) of the noisy boasters.
46 Woe to you, Moab!(DB)
The people of Chemosh are destroyed;
your sons are taken into exile
and your daughters into captivity.
47 “Yet I will restore(DC) the fortunes of Moab
in days to come,”
declares the Lord.
Here ends the judgment on Moab.
