¹⁹ Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you^[a] pray for, it will be done for you^[b] by My Father in heaven.

²² And if you believe, you will receive^(A) whatever you ask for in prayer.”

²⁴ Therefore I tell you, all the things you pray^(A) and ask for^(B)—believe that you have received^[a](C) them, and you will have them.

⁵ Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.^{(A) 6} But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

¹⁷ Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast by turning.^(A)

²² and can receive whatever we ask from Him because we keep His commands^(A) and do what is pleasing in His sight.

Effective Prayer

¹⁴ Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask^(A) anything according to His will, He hears us.^{(B) 15} And if we know that He hears whatever we ask,^(C) we know that we have what we have asked Him for.^(D)
