¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are ^(A)the ^[a]Christ, ^(B)the Son of ^(C)the living God.” ¹⁷ And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, ^(D)Simon ^[b]Barjona, because ^(E)flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are ^[c](F)Peter, and upon this ^[d]rock I will build My church; and the gates of ^(G)Hades will not overpower it.

⁴² They were ^(A)continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to ^(B)the breaking of bread and ^(C)to ^[a]prayer.

^43 [b]Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many ^(D)wonders and ^[c]signs were taking place through the apostles. ⁴⁴ And all the believers ^[d]were together and ^(E)had all things in common; ⁴⁵ and they ^(F)would sell their property and possessions and share them with all, to the extent that anyone had need. ^46 (G)Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and ^(H)breaking bread ^[e]from house to house, they were taking their ^[f]meals together with gladness and ^[g]sincerity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and ^(I)having favor with all the people. And the Lord ^(J)was adding to ^[h]their number day by day ^(K)those who were being saved.

⁵ so we, ^(A)who are many, are ^(B)one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another.

¹² For just ^(A)as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, ^(B)so also is Christ. ¹³ For ^[a](C)by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether ^(D)Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to ^(E)drink of one Spirit.

¹⁴ For ^(F)the body is not one part, but many. ¹⁵ If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason ^[b]any less a part of the body. ¹⁶ And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason ^[c]any less a part of the body. ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? ¹⁸ But now God has ^(G)arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, ^(H)just as He desired. ¹⁹ If they were all one part, where would the body be? ²⁰ But now ^(I)there are many parts, but one body. ²¹ And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again, the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” ²² On the contrary, ^[d]it is much truer that the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; ²³ and those parts of the body which we ^[e]consider less honorable, ^[f]on these we bestow greater honor, and our less presentable parts become much more presentable, ²⁴ whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked, ²⁵ so that there may be no ^[g]division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another. ²⁶ And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is ^[h]honored, all the parts rejoice with it.

²⁷ Now you are ^(J)Christ’s body, and ^(K)individually parts of it.

²⁰ which He brought about in Christ, when He ^(A)raised Him from the dead and ^(B)seated Him at His right hand in ^(C)the heavenly places, ²¹ far above ^(D)all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every ^(E)name that is named, not only in ^(F)this age but also in the one to come. ²² And He ^(G)put all things in subjection under His feet, and made Him ^(H)head over all things to the church, ²³ which is His ^(I)body, the ^(J)fullness of Him who ^(K)fills ^(L)all in all.

³ being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the ^(A)bond of peace. ⁴ There is ^(B)one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one ^(C)hope of your calling; ^5 (D)one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all ^(E)who is over all and through all and in all.

⁷ But ^(F)to each one of us ^(G)grace was given ^(H)according to the measure of Christ’s gift. ⁸ Therefore ^[a]it says,

⁹ (Now this expression, “He ^(K)ascended,” what ^[b]does it mean except that He also ^[c]had descended into ^(L)the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is Himself also He who ascended ^(M)far above all the heavens, so that He might ^(N)fill all things.)

¹⁴ In addition to all these things put on love, which is ^[a](A)the perfect bond of ^(B)unity.

¹⁵ Let ^(A)the peace of Christ, to which you were ^[a]indeed called in ^(B)one body, ^[b]rule in your hearts; and ^[c]be thankful.
