Isaiah 55:9-11
Easy-to-Read Version
9 Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways,
and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.
10 “Rain and snow fall from the sky
and don’t return until they have watered the ground.
Then the ground causes the plants to sprout and grow,
and they produce seeds for the farmer and food for people to eat.
11 In the same way, my words leave my mouth,
and they don’t come back without results.
My words make the things happen that I want to happen.
They succeed in doing what I send them to do.
Isaiah 55:9-11
New International Version
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,(A)
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.(B)
10 As the rain(C) and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,(D)
so that it yields seed(E) for the sower and bread for the eater,(F)
11 so is my word(G) that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,(H)
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose(I) for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:9-11
King James Version
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
