Hebrews 11:35-40

New King James Version

³⁵^(A)Women received their dead raised to life again.

Others were ^(B)tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. ³⁶Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and ^(C)of chains and imprisonment. ³⁷^(D)They were stoned, they were sawn in two, ^[a]were tempted, were slain with the sword. ^(E)They wandered about ^(F)in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— ³⁸of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, ^(G)in dens and caves of the earth.

³⁹And all these, ^(H)having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰God having provided something better for us, that they should not be ^(I)made perfect apart from us.

³⁶and others of mockings and scourgings did receive trial, and yet of bonds and imprisonment;

³⁷they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tried; in the killing of the sword they died; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins -- being destitute, afflicted, injuriously treated,

³⁸of whom the world was not worthy; in deserts wandering, and [in] mountains, and [in] caves, and [in] the holes of the earth;

³⁹and these all, having been testified to through the faith, did not receive the promise,

⁴⁰God for us something better having provided, that apart from us they might not be made perfect.
