“^(A)Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, ^(B)to obey is better than a sacrifice,
And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

³ To do ^(A)righteousness and justice
Is preferred by the Lord more than sacrifice.

¹¹ “^(A)What are your many sacrifices to Me?”
Says the Lord.
“I ^[a]have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fattened cattle;
And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.

¹⁸ “Come now, and ^(G)let us ^[a]debate your case,”
Says the Lord,
“^(H)Though your sins are as scarlet,
They shall become as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be like wool.
^19 (I)If you are willing and obedient,
You will ^(J)eat the best of the land;
²⁰ But if you refuse and rebel,
You will be ^(K)devoured by the sword.”
For ^(L)the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

^6 (A)With what shall I come to the Lord
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with ^(B)burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
⁷ Does the Lord take pleasure in ^(C)thousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of ^[a]oil?
Shall I give Him my ^(D)firstborn for my wrongdoings,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
⁸ He has ^(E)told you, mortal one, what is good;
And ^(F)what does the Lord require of you
But to ^(G)do justice, to ^(H)love ^[b]kindness,
And to walk ^[c](I)humbly with your God?
