“^(A)Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, ^(B)to obey is better than a sacrifice,
And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

⁸ The ^(A)sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But ^(B)the prayer of the upright is His delight.

¹¹ “^(A)What are your many sacrifices to Me?”
Says the Lord.
“I ^[a]have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fattened cattle;
And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.

⁷ Does the Lord take pleasure in ^(A)thousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of ^[a]oil?
Shall I give Him my ^(B)firstborn for my wrongdoings,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
⁸ He has ^(C)told you, mortal one, what is good;
And ^(D)what does the Lord require of you
But to ^(E)do justice, to ^(F)love ^[b]kindness,
And to walk ^[c](G)humbly with your God?
