12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run^(A) with perseverance^(B) the race marked out for us, ² fixing our eyes on Jesus,^(C) the pioneer^(D) and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,^(E) scorning its shame,^(F) and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.^{(G) 3} Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary^(H) and lose heart.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham^(A) rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it^(B) and was glad.”

²² Jews demand signs^(A) and Greeks look for wisdom, ²³ but we preach Christ crucified:^(B) a stumbling block^(C) to Jews and foolishness^(D) to Gentiles, ²⁴ but to those whom God has called,^(E) both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God^(F) and the wisdom of God.^(G)

¹⁹ Do you not know that your bodies are temples^(A) of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;^{(B) 20} you were bought at a price.^(C) Therefore honor God with your bodies.^(D)

²³ You were bought at a price;^(A) do not become slaves of human beings.

¹⁸ I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened^(A) in order that you may know the hope to which he has called^(B) you, the riches^(C) of his glorious inheritance^(D) in his holy people,^{(E) 19} and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power^(F) is the same as the mighty strength^(G)

⁸ Now there is in store for me^(A) the crown of righteousness,^(B) which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day^(C)—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.^(D)

¹⁸ The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless^{(A) 19} (for the law made nothing perfect),^(B) and a better hope^(C) is introduced, by which we draw near to God.^(D)
