Be Prepared!
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:3
By this time, you may have begun to prepare for Easter. You’ve been pondering its coming in your heart. Perhaps you’ve been planning an Easter meal or where you’ll attend worship services that day. You’re preparing somehow.
Often the Bible speaks to us of preparing. David took comfort knowing that God prepares a table for him in the presence of his enemies (Psalm 23:5). Jesus declared that our inheritance has been prepared for us since creation (Matthew 25:34). At the Last Supper, Jesus reassured His disciples by telling them that He was going to prepare a place for them (John 14:3).
Jesus’ ministry was focused on preparing. From the time He resolutely set out for Jerusalem (see Luke 9:51), He was preparing His disciples for His crucifixion and resurrection. He Himself would endure the torturous suffering, yet He was intent on getting His friends ready. Imagine that!
Preparation was part of God’s plan. He is preparing the way for you and me. Let’s get ready for the celebration of the greatest event in history: the resurrection.
