Adventure Bible Family Devotions
Go-Karts and Real Cars
Logan’s dad was winning as they raced around the track on go-karts. Logan kept trying to pass him. But his father hugged the curves to prevent it. Risking a spinout, Logan took the last curve fast and wide. They were side by side coming out of the turn. Logan floored the pedal, pulling ahead just before the finish line.
“Nice race!” his dad said as they climbed out of their go-karts. When they got back to the car, Logan slid behind the steering wheel. “I’ll drive, since I’m better at it,” he joked.
His father laughed and shook his head. “Nice try, kiddo. Move over!”
Is there an adults-only version of God’s kingdom? Do kids only get the go-kart version? No way! There’s only one kingdom of God, and you’re part of it. Your prayers aren’t go-kart prayers. They’re real prayers. Your Bible isn’t a go-kart Bible. It’s a real Bible, full of real truth and real wisdom and real power. When children go to Jesus, he makes them real members of God’s kingdom.
Bible Verse: Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” – Luke 18:16
Live It!: When it comes to faith, don’t just ride in the backseat of your parents’ car. Pick up your Bible when you’re alone. Pray when no one’s around. Build your own relationship with Jesus!
