Letter of Jeremiah 8
Print
The Gentiles take gold and place crowns on their gods’ heads, like a young girl playing dress up.
Their tongues are smoothed by the carpenter, and they themselves are overlaid with gold and silver; but they are false and cannot speak.
People take gold and make crowns for the heads of their gods, as they might for a young woman who loves ornaments.
Their tongues are smoothed by the craftsman, and they themselves are overlaid with gold and silver; but they are false and cannot speak.
For why the trees (or the wood) of them be polished of (or by) a carpenter; also they be arrayed with gold, and arrayed with silver, and be false [or they also engolded and ensilvered be false], and may not (or be not able to) speak.
