Letter of Jeremiah 63

There’s no reason at all to believe in them or call them gods. They aren’t able to judge anyone’s case or do good for anyone.
And the fire sent from above to consume mountains and woods does what it is ordered. But these idols are not to be compared with them in appearance or power.
Therefore one must not think that they are gods nor call them gods, for they are unable either to decide a case or to do good to anyone.
And the fire sent from above to consume mountains and woods does what it is ordered. But these idols are not to be compared with them in appearance or power.
Also (the) fire sent from above, to waste mountains and woods, doeth that, that is commanded to it [or doeth what thing is commanded to it]; but these idols be not like to one of those things, neither by forms, neither by virtues (or in power).
