Letter of Jeremiah 54
Print
When a fire breaks out in the home of their wooden gods covered in gold and silver, their priests will run and save themselves, but the gods will be destroyed like the supporting beams.
They cannot judge their own cause or deliver one who is wronged, for they have no power;
they are like crows between heaven and earth. When fire breaks out in a temple of wooden gods overlaid with gold or silver, their priests will flee and escape, but the gods will be burned up like timbers.
They cannot judge their own cause or deliver one who is wronged, for they have no power; they are like crows between heaven and earth.
Also they shall not deem (a) doom, neither they shall deliver the country from wrong. For those may (or be able to) (do) nothing, as little crows betwixt the midst of heaven and of (the) earth. [Also they shall not describe, or judge, a doom, neither they shall deliver a country from wrong. For they may (do) nothing, as little crows betwixt the middle of heaven and earth.]
