The idols are just like the beams that support a house, but people say that their hearts melt before them. They don’t notice when vermin from the earth have eaten them and their clothing.
They light more lamps for them than they light for themselves, though their gods can see none of them.
They are just like a beam of the temple, but their hearts, it is said, are eaten away when crawling creatures from the earth devour them and their robes. They do not notice
They light lamps, even more than they light for themselves, though their gods can see none of them.
They tend lanterns to (or for) them, and soothly many lanterns, of which they may (or be able to) see none;
