Letter of Jeremiah 27

Their priests misuse the sacrifices by selling them and using the money for themselves. Their wives also preserve some of the meat, but they don’t share it with the poor or disabled. Menstruating women and others who have just given birth have handled their sacrifices.
because, if any of these gods falls to the ground, they themselves must pick it up. If anyone sets it upright, it cannot move itself; and if it is tipped over, it cannot straighten itself. Gifts are placed before them just as before the dead.
The priests sell the sacrifices that are offered to these gods and use the money themselves. Likewise their wives preserve some of the meat with salt but give none to the poor or helpless.
And those who serve them are ashamed because through them these gods are made to stand, lest they fall to the ground. If any one sets one of them upright, it cannot move of itself; and if it is tipped over, it cannot straighten itself; but gifts are placed before them just as before the dead.
be they shamed also that worship them. Therefore if they fall down to (the) earth, they shall not rise (up) of (or by) themselves; and if any man setteth that idol upright, it shall not stand by itself, but as to dead things [or as to dead men] shoulders shall (or must) be put to them.
