Letter of Jeremiah 69
Print
As a scarecrow in a cucumber field offers no protection, so do their wooden gods covered in gold and silver.
So we have no evidence whatever that they are gods; therefore do not fear them.
Like a scarecrow in a cucumber bed that guards nothing, so are their gods of wood, overlaid with gold and silver.
So we have no evidence whatever that they are gods; therefore do not fear them.
Therefore by no manner it is open to you, that they be gods. For which thing, dread ye not them. [And so by no manner it is known to you, for they be gods. For which thing dread ye not them.]
