Letter of Jeremiah 15

Just as a person’s utensil is useless after it’s broken, so are the Gentiles’ gods after they have been placed in their temples.
Another has a dagger in its right hand, and an axe, but cannot defend itself from war and robbers.
From this it is evident that they are not gods, so do not fear them.
It has a dagger in its right hand, and has an axe; but it cannot save itself from war and robbers.
Also they have in the hand a sword, and an ax; but they deliver not themselves from battle and from thieves. [Forsooth they have also in the hand sword and ax; forsooth they deliver not themselves from battle and day thieves.]
