Everyone who was moved by the word of the Lord of Israel gathered around me as I mourned over this unlawful deed, and I sat there depressed until the evening sacrifice.
‘The people of Israel and the rulers and the priests and the Levites have not put away from themselves the alien peoples of the land and their pollutions, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Edomites.
And all who were ever moved at the word of the Lord of Israel gathered around me, as I mourned over this iniquity, and I sat grief-stricken until the evening sacrifice.
“The people of Israel and the leaders and the priests and the Levites have not put away from themselves the alien peoples of the land and their pollutions, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Per′izzites, the Jeb′usites, the Mo′abites, the Egyptians, and the E′domites.
The kindred of Israel, and the princes, and the priests, and Levites (or deacons), and alien folks, and (the) nations of the land, have not parted away [or severed] their uncleannesses from the Canaanites, and Hittites, and from (the) Perizzites, and Jebusites, and from the Moabites, and Egyptians, and Idumeans (or Edomites);
