Ps 96

Ps. 96 The psalmist calls on all nations to proclaim God as their King. The psalm contrasts God with the lifeless idols of the nations (vv. 4–6). The theme of God’s universal kingship is similar to that seen in Ps. 47; 93; 97; 99, and particularly Ps. 98. 1 Chr. 16:8–36 records the thanksgiving song of David when he brought the ark to Jerusalem, a song composed from Ps. 96 and 105. See especially 1 Chr. 16:23–33 for Ps. 96.
